We just got official word from Warner Bros that Mortal Kombat (2011) has officially gone gold, and has been released for final disc manufacturing. Congrats goes out to everyone at NetherRealm Studios for their hard work and dedication in finishing this game.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios today announce that Mortal Kombat has officially gone gold on the PlayStation(r)3 computer entertainment system and Xbox 360(r) video game and entertainment system from Microsoft. Scheduled to launch on April 19, Mortal Kombat is the most brutal installment of the legendary fighting game to date and is currently available for pre-order at all major retailers across North America.

Being developed by NetherRealm Studios, led by Mortal Kombat co-creator Ed Boon, the newest chapter of the iconic fight franchise marks a triumphant return to the series' mature presentation and a reinvention of its classic 2D fighting mechanic. Driven by an all new graphics engine, the fan favorite Fatality is back and presented in more gory detail than ever before. In addition, Mortal Kombat introduces a number of new game-play features including tag team, a deep story mode, and, exclusively for the PS3, Stereoscopic 3D. Players can choose from an extensive lineup of the game's iconic warriors and challenge their friends in traditional 1 vs. 1 matches, or take on several new game modes including Challenge Tower and the soon-to-be-announced online modes.

NetherRealm Studios also provided us with some new screenshots to post. Click to enlarge the thumbnails below.

With the release of Mortal Kombat (2011) less than two weeks away Warner Bros. is really starting to flex it's marketing muscle to get word out on the upcoming game. Billboards have been popping up all over the place over the past week. In one case it's literally as large as life, like the photo below from the Mortal Kombat ad in Times Square.

Click Thumbnail to Enlarge

Sometimes the billboards will even be moving at 200mph! For the upcoming NASCAR race, Aaron's 312 at Talladega, on April 16th the GameStop #20 Toyota driven by Joey Logano will be decked out in Mortal Kombat themed imagery as seen below. The car will have a Mortal Kombat Dragon on the hood along with Sub-Zero and Scorpion on each side. There will even be a WB Games logo on the back deck lid. You can tune in and root for the #20 GameStop Mortal Kombat car April 16th at 3PM EST on ESPN 2.

Keep your eyes out for more Marketing popping up from Mortal Kombat (2011) and if you see anything new be sure to send it to us via email or to on @TRMK Twitter.

Update 4/7 2pm: Reader Damien Nichols sent in this video of a hilarious animated Mortal Kombat Ad which was seen inside of a men's bathroom. It even has Scorpion doing his Get Over Here catch phrase.

Update 4/7 3pm: NetherRealm Studios Producer Hector Sanchez just tweeted this link for a guerilla Mortal Kombat marketing stunt in Europe where Mortal Kombat (2011) logo signs are spun about in an acrobatic manner. Very cool and impressive, watch it below.

The MKCommunityManager YouTube account uploaded some new videos featuring the behind the scenes of creating the Mortal Kombat (2011) cosplay outfits for the models attending the European Mortal Kombat Tournaments. Models were hired to portray Sonya Blade, Kitana and Mileena, and from what we can see they look just like their in-game counterparts. They will be appearing next at Mortal Kombat pan-European tournament final held at the The Gadget Show on Sunday April 17th at Birmingham's NEC Centre, UK.

Here are the videos below. Beware though, the outfits are quite revealing and may not be considered "work safe" depending on where you work.

Those in Europe can also head on over to The Mortal Kombat Facebook Page to vote which of the three is your favorite. You can also tell us in the comments who your favorite is!

Just a few days after Mortal Kombat: Legacy's Teaser Trailer was released we got the first look at the Mortal Kombat: Legacy Full Trailer tonight. Looks like the series will be covering the back stories of how each fighter got into the tournament.

We're not sure what time the series will actually debut tomorrow. We originally heard that it'd debut after the Machinima Live Stream tomorrow afternoon, but earlier today series director Kevin Tancharoen himself posted to Twitter today that the series will debut at 12:01am. Either way it shows up tomorrow courtesy of Machinima.com, so keep an eye on @machinima_com on Twitter and stalk their YouTube page tomorrow.

The first episode is free courtesy of Machinima.com but we're not currently sure what will happen with the remaining 10 episodes. Be sure to come back to Machinima this afternoon from 12pm – 4pm PST to watch the cast and crew of Mortal Kombat: Legacy playing the new Mortal Kombat (2011).

What do you fans think? We think this is a great start to hopefully a series that gets to go beyond just the Legacy of Mortal Kombat.

Finally after long wait, the first online mode video has been revealed. In this new video over on IGN, NetherRealm Studios Senior Producer Adam Urbano and Senior Software Engineer Tony Smith discuss the new online feature King of the Hill. In King of the Hill mode matches are spectated by friends which can then Boo or Cheer you along which thusly reward the players with Respect Points after the match. A nice touch is that every player can use their Xbox 360 Avatars or custom chosen PlayStation 3 Avatars and are all seen sitting and watching the game happen.

The whole thing reminds me Mystery Science Theater 3000. Can't wait to get into my first King of the Hill match myself! Do you think you can meet Adam Urbano's challenge and find the hidden things in King of the Hill?

Today's Penny Arcade Comic features Mortal Kombat. In the comic they recreate the moment we all have been before, when we forget the Fatality movements just as we finally defeat our opponent.

View the Full Sized Comic on Penny-Arcade.com

Tycho of Penny Arcade also had things to say about the game in today's related News Post. Here's a snippet describing the idea behind the comic:

Being able to perform a Fatality (or, indeed, any -ality) was akin to Alchemy in the arcades and pizza parlors of my youth, I've never really been able to muster it; the new one lets you go right into the menu and look at the commands, with your eyes, which communicate the needed inputs to your brain, and I am still unable to do so.

Has anyone else found themselves embarrassed by forgetting the finishing moves? I know I did this exact thing a few times over the past week. If you don't mind a REALLY negative crowd reaction you can always hit the pause button to look up the Finishing Moves at the end of the match.

Thanks to Scott Bishop from MKO for the tip.

It's been a full week since the release of Mortal Kombat (2011), arguably one of the best fighting game of this generation of consoles. Since then, a lot of information - along with a fair share of misinformation - has been revealed. Here is a recap of what TRMK offers for your all your fatality and unlocking needs.

The first place you need to head out to is our Mortal Kombat (2011) Moves Guide. Also, for those who don't have a computer or smartphone close to their couch, we also feature a handy Printable Moves Guide. We have every single special move, stage fatality, fatality and the elusive secret babality.

Klassic Costumes and Fatalities
Each character has two fatalities each, with exception to the following characters: Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero. These male ninja characters have a third "klassic" fatality that is unlocked when you enter the PSN or Xbox Live redemption code obtained when you pre-ordered the game at Amazon.com, GameStop and Best Buy respectively for now. The motions to perform these fatalities are listed in our Mortal Kombat (2011) Moves Guide. You do NOT have to wear that character's classic costume to perform the "klassic" fatality.

As of today, the only way that you can perform these "klassic" fatalities is via the redemption code. If you didn't manage to buy 3 separate copies of the game from all of the aforementioned retailers, fear not. The "klassic" costumes and fatalities will be available shortly. As for now, they are retailer exclusives. We don't know exactly when they'll be released, but we do know they are coming.

Krypt Guide
All characters' alternate costumes are unlockable in the krypt or by beating the arcade ladder with that character. Don't want to randomly spend your "koins" on finding these costumes? Check out our Mortal Kombat (2011) Krypt Guide where we've cataloged every koffin for your spending needs. Remember to head to the Nekropolis after you unlock the alternate costume and select the character to enable the costume.

Babalities
These finishing moves are all performed at jump distance during the standard fatality time. It is also important to note, however, that there is a single restriction. You cannot block an attack during the match. You can tap the block button as much as you like, even use it during the fatality input time. But as soon as you block an attack, you cannot perform the babality.

Boss Babalities
Also, another easter egg is that babalities can be performed on bosses in the arcade ladder. Those bosses include unique babies for Goro, Kintaro and even Shao Kahn. From what we can figure out you need to be set on Medium difficulty and higher, but need to keep the rounds at 2 and time set to 90 seconds. To get Goro, Kintaro and Shao Kahn you need to perform a babality on every fighter in the arcade ladder up until Shang Tsung. You also can NOT lose a match, you can lose a round but never a match. Look to our Mortal Kombat (2011) Tips & FAQs section once we've narrowed down the criteria even further.

Tournament Edition Arcade Stick Buttons
For those who have the Mortal Kombat (2011): Tournament Edition Arcade Stick and have not gone through tutorial mode, you can perform X-Ray Attacks by hitting the Front Kick + Block + Back Kick (Xbox 360: A+RT+B or PS3: X+R2+O) attacks at the same time when your power meter is full. Throws can also be done by hitting both the Front Punch + Front Kick (Xbox 360: A+X or PS3: X+Square) attacks at the same time. No need to use the smaller buttons at the top of the stick.

Hidden Fighters (Secret Achievements)
There are four hidden character fights that you can find in the arcade ladder. Smoke, Noob, Reptile and Jade.

Smoke: Smoke is hiding in the Living Forest. When he peeks out behind a tree, hit the Back or Select Button and you'll fight him immediately in his klassic costume.

Reptile: When you see silhouettes fly across the moon in The Pit stage, you must win with a Double Flawless and perform the Stage Fatality.

Noob: In The Temple stage - the one with a priest over a body on the alter and featuring colored stained glass windows - when you see Noob standing next to the alter in the background, you must win the match without blocking an attack.

Jade: As far as Jade's battle, we think we finally figured out the criteria with the help of Jason from MKBible. What you need to do is defeat Shang Tsung with Double Flawless after meeting certain criteria. The criteria is as follows: lose no MATCHES before Shang Tsung, perform a minimum of 3 Fatalities before Goro/Kintaro and have a minimum of three Flawless Victories before your Double Flawless on Shang Tsung for a total of 5. It's no easy feat, but you'll be so happy once you get that achievement!

Detailed instructions on how to find these hidden character fights will be available in our Mortal Kombat (2011) Tips & FAQs section.
