2:40 PM CST -
It's been a full week since the release of Mortal Kombat (2011), arguably one of the best fighting game of this generation of consoles. Since then, a lot of information - along with a fair share of misinformation - has been revealed. Here is a recap of what TRMK offers for your all your fatality and unlocking needs.

The first place you need to head out to is our Mortal Kombat (2011) Moves Guide. Also, for those who don't have a computer or smartphone close to their couch, we also feature a handy Printable Moves Guide. We have every single special move, stage fatality, fatality and the elusive secret babality.

Klassic Costumes and Fatalities
Each character has two fatalities each, with exception to the following characters: Reptile, Scorpion, Sub-Zero. These male ninja characters have a third "klassic" fatality that is unlocked when you enter the PSN or Xbox Live redemption code obtained when you pre-ordered the game at Amazon.com, GameStop and Best Buy respectively for now. The motions to perform these fatalities are listed in our Mortal Kombat (2011) Moves Guide. You do NOT have to wear that character's classic costume to perform the "klassic" fatality.

As of today, the only way that you can perform these "klassic" fatalities is via the redemption code. If you didn't manage to buy 3 separate copies of the game from all of the aforementioned retailers, fear not. The "klassic" costumes and fatalities will be available shortly. As for now, they are retailer exclusives. We don't know exactly when they'll be released, but we do know they are coming.

Krypt Guide
All characters' alternate costumes are unlockable in the krypt or by beating the arcade ladder with that character. Don't want to randomly spend your "koins" on finding these costumes? Check out our Mortal Kombat (2011) Krypt Guide where we've cataloged every koffin for your spending needs. Remember to head to the Nekropolis after you unlock the alternate costume and select the character to enable the costume.

Babalities
These finishing moves are all performed at jump distance during the standard fatality time. It is also important to note, however, that there is a single restriction. You cannot block an attack during the match. You can tap the block button as much as you like, even use it during the fatality input time. But as soon as you block an attack, you cannot perform the babality.

Boss Babalities
Also, another easter egg is that babalities can be performed on bosses in the arcade ladder. Those bosses include unique babies for Goro, Kintaro and even Shao Kahn. From what we can figure out you need to be set on Medium difficulty and higher, but need to keep the rounds at 2 and time set to 90 seconds. To get Goro, Kintaro and Shao Kahn you need to perform a babality on every fighter in the arcade ladder up until Shang Tsung. You also can NOT lose a match, you can lose a round but never a match. Look to our Mortal Kombat (2011) Tips & FAQs section once we've narrowed down the criteria even further.

Tournament Edition Arcade Stick Buttons
For those who have the Mortal Kombat (2011): Tournament Edition Arcade Stick and have not gone through tutorial mode, you can perform X-Ray Attacks by hitting the Front Kick + Block + Back Kick (Xbox 360: A+RT+B or PS3: X+R2+O) attacks at the same time when your power meter is full. Throws can also be done by hitting both the Front Punch + Front Kick (Xbox 360: A+X or PS3: X+Square) attacks at the same time. No need to use the smaller buttons at the top of the stick.

Hidden Fighters (Secret Achievements)
There are four hidden character fights that you can find in the arcade ladder. Smoke, Noob, Reptile and Jade.

Smoke: Smoke is hiding in the Living Forest. When he peeks out behind a tree, hit the Back or Select Button and you'll fight him immediately in his klassic costume.

Reptile: When you see silhouettes fly across the moon in The Pit stage, you must win with a Double Flawless and perform the Stage Fatality.

Noob: In The Temple stage - the one with a priest over a body on the alter and featuring colored stained glass windows - when you see Noob standing next to the alter in the background, you must win the match without blocking an attack.

Jade: As far as Jade's battle, we think we finally figured out the criteria with the help of Jason from MKBible. What you need to do is defeat Shang Tsung with Double Flawless after meeting certain criteria. The criteria is as follows: lose no MATCHES before Shang Tsung, perform a minimum of 3 Fatalities before Goro/Kintaro and have a minimum of three Flawless Victories before your Double Flawless on Shang Tsung for a total of 5. It's no easy feat, but you'll be so happy once you get that achievement!

Detailed instructions on how to find these hidden character fights will be available in our Mortal Kombat (2011) Tips & FAQs section.

Story Mode
Mortal Kombat (2011) features probably the most epic story mode in a fighting game ever. Here is a glimpse of the first chapter from story mode.

Umm, Kratos's Stage Fatality is D,D,D,FK not D,D,F,FK As for Boss Fatalities, you can lose a "round" just not a "match"

Thanks for the corrections, I have been ignoring the PS3 since PSN went down and forgot to correct these. As far as the Boss Babalities, still trying to find the trigger for the Goro/Kintaro Babality. Losing 0 rounds and 0 matches and doing a Babality on Shang Tsung doesn't trigger it, so it must require a Single or Double Flawless thus making the Shao Kahn one even more difficult if so. I'll keep working on pinpointing it.

Looks like Boss Babalities work as follows: - Game difficulty must be on Medium or Higher - Game setting to Two Rounds Mimimum, likely needs default 90 seconds as well - No blocking of attacks in final round (for Babality) - End every fight with a Babality from start on Ladder until Shang Tsung - Can't lose a match, but a round is okay If you follow the above, then you will get an automatic Babality on Goro/Kintaro and Shao Kahn once you defeat them without losing a match to them.

Now you got it pin pointed, oh and I ment to type Boss Babalities, not Boss Fatalities...lol

Good job. However I feel that these guides would be of more use if you guys included character specific strategies and provide more value addition to the things that are already universally available.

Our strong suit is finding and well documenting the secrets in the game and in the best or most minimal way possible. These secrets have NOT been pin pointed by anyone, lots of rumors and hearsay. If someone wants to create character specific strategies for us we're all ears but there is no way our small staff can put together something like that. Sorry.

Question about the moves guide, ever consider making a PS3/Xbox specific version in terms of which buttons correspond to FP, BP, etc? I don't think it would be a lot of work (all you would need would be the button icons for each controller), and it would be easier reference to players than having to pause and bring up the move list. Someone posted a link to an iphone app move guide that did this and it looked really neat, thought it was something worth suggesting here.

What about combo vids? or Matchups? frame data? tier listings? unblockables? character setups? best/worst x-rays to use in crunch situations? tag combos? best/worst tag matchups? best button layout for stick use? homemade sticks? top players? EVO? the community response to MK competitively? community feedback(in general...not just trmk ie SRK or tekkenzaibatsu)? top player interviews on the game and mains? non-gameplay issues like no config interface during gameplay - only preset commands which leads to constant quitting game and referencing main menu options 2 set config? theres plenty more but i see ur just focusing on cosmetics (fatalities, secret fatalities, secret fights, how to unlock such and such, etc)

I would LOVE to cover everything you mention, but I am only one person who does the majority of work around here as Jeff is mostly busy. We have full time jobs besides running this site (since 1997 mind you). So over the years we have found that it's best for us to cover a wide base of information here and on our social networks that reach to a wide range of players and fans. We don't focus on a small subset of players want to know about. Why re-invent the wheel and let those people who do that continue to do just that. Why people like you hate on us for doing what is clearly popular for a large number of fans is beyond me.

i can respect that now that that has come 2 light. why not increase your staff? only 2 heads running the site plus Tim Static on the field pushing approval for MK? u would think u have a well rounded team of site editors after 14yrs. keep doing your thing though.

We're always looking for contributors to bring upwards, and always look to the forums for where to find people to bring upwards as they contribute and build guides, great threads, etc. We have a great moderator staff, who have helped out with data entry stuff, etc just haven't grown our editorial staff it's actually shrunk over the years as we've lost a few great people to real jobs. Now we've had people ask to be editorial staff but they never prove themselves when asked to contribute, they just PM me and say "I want to do XX YY" but with nothing behind them to show how they can contribute. Then given the task to contribute to the forums they typically fail in amazing ways. Most people just want handouts and can't show how they can really contribute to the site.

There is no need to hate. The staff here have been doing an incredibly good job at maintaining this site. I have yet to see any MK site that compiles secrets and data better than TRMK. I also find the forums here much better organised and moderated compared to other Mk sites. I also really appreciate the Mobile version of the TRMK forum which was made few weeks before the game release to always have MK related news on the go. Due to their constrains it may not be possbile for them to make elaborate guides and strategies but they do make very user friendly, quick referencer type of guides which caters to majority of the MK fanbase. We should appreciate the TRMK staff for what they do because whatever they do, they do it wonderfully.

well i guess my approach to that situation is creating general conversation on those subjects to generate interest in those topics. But there really isnt any need 2 contribute to the site when u may feel your efforts may go in vain (i.e. a full section containing to strats, combo vids, character breakdowns, etc and most will just complain as to why this kinda stuff is up when everyone just plays for fun?). lol u know whats funny is how a lot tourney players say "we're closing the gap" as in America is closing the gap in skill with Japan and South Korea. i think we're having a gap widening rapidly with casual and competitive players that is not closing. so with that being said, i have to definitely respect what your doing and have been doing for all these yrs as i have been monitoring MK through your site since Deception. im mentally congested with homework and power point presentations to even make a valid pint here LOL. Basically keep pushing MK as I see trmk and MK itself is getting a lot reference and attention now from other sites such as SRK, sdtekken(tekkenzaibatsu), and evo2k.com.

By the way, it's appears you don't have to complete all those conditions to do bosses babalities. Just complete Ladder doing a babality on Kintaro without doing it on ALL fighters before except on Shang Tsung. Then lost couple of times with Shao Kahn. I was playing on medium difficulty with Johnny Cage. Greetings!! -WolfScythe.

I have a question about getting the Noob secret fight. It says: "Noob: In The Temple stage - the one with a priest over a body on the alter and featuring colored stained glass windows - when you see Noob standing next to the alter in the background, you must win the match without blocking an attack." Does this mean we can use X-rays? I have gotten to the fight, but did not dare use the X-ray...

Just put it on Beginner difficulty. You shouldn't need to block or use Xrays.

What is that first point talking about? You need a minimum of 2 rounds? What does that mean?
May 3rd, 2011 11:12 PM CST - Patrick McCarron
Can't do it with the game set to One Round Matches
