What Grinds your Gears, part 2

I hate excessively loud music as well. I once rode in a car with someone who cranked up the bass; I felt dizzy and lost my sense of balance. I never understand why people like to bring attention to themselves like that.

I can explain the mentality behind playing certain genres of music at such high volumes, such as metal. Metal's association with such volumes stems from the the fact that rock music in general (which, of course, metal is a part of) has glorified excessive volumes going about as far back as the British Invasion era, and that in turn stems from the old days of guitar amplification. If you had, for instance, a pre-1980s Marshall amp (such as the 1959 SLP), and you wanted that big rock distortion without having to use a pedal, the only way to do it was to crank that bad boy LOUD! Even the JCM 800, which was one of the first amps on the market to have a Master Volume, had to be cranked in order to achieve its full potential. Nowadays, guitarists are spoiled with amps that can generate a lot of distortion at reasonable volumes, even into the 100+ wattage territory (such as your Mesa Boogie Rectifier amps), and more recently, modelling technology (such as those Fractal Axe-FX preamp things, or whatever shit Line 6 is shilling these days).

As for complaints about music volumes, I stand by what Ted Nugent once said...if it's too loud, you're too old.

How this "play it loud" mentality transferred from the musicians to us as fans is something I'm still trying to figure out (and this coming from someone who was raised by his parents to listen to the likes of Zeppelin, VH, and AC/DC before eventually turning to Pantera and Slayer, mind you). Maybe in lyrics such as "I'm on the top as long as the music's loud" or something like that?

Thanks to the new YouTube my labtop is f***** up and it wasn't even my fault

The only solace I have was the fact I was going to take it to the shop to fix it's screen anyways

the new youtube is just all sorts of horrible. This is like what, the 9th time its been turned to shit, each time getting worse. This was the final nail in the coffin.

I have to edit this post mainly because I'm paranoid as to thinking that this one girl I'm currently in a feud with in my school having to find this, or a friend find this post and using it against me.

But I'm going to continue what this was about. Artists are complexed folks that really cannot come to a mutual understanding easily. We have to go through Hell, literally, Hell, just to make a point or to get what we want. And unfortunately, this is hurting me both mentally and physically and I'm really at a point to press charges against her for harassment.

To make a long story short, it's just a stupid fight that could easily be solved if we can sit down face to face with someone mediating the whole conversation and come to a mutual agreement over something so meaningless, so pointless to fight over.

Really, I wish I could re-edit this post again and explain what's going on but... knowing how some people are, this might bite me in the ass one day and I refuse to have a mark on my record for something that I know it's not my fault.

I have to study a lot for my new job. Actually jobs... Hospice Care and Home Health. Too much to find out about certain computer systems for notes. I'm going to sacrifice 3 months without going out and it better be worth it!!!

Got it right this time:proud: .Anyway...

You know what grinds my gears? Rebecca Black coming out with a new f#%kin song. Now, I have to hear that s#%t every time I turn on the morning news.

comic book purists who whine complain about a comic film not being exactly 100% of the comic and tear apart the casting writter and director choices

Book purists (not only comic books but book purists, in general) annoy me to no end, as well.

"That's not how it happened in the book. Boo-hoo."

Look, I like comic books and reading the original story in the books too, but it's very possible that the producer and / or movie director saw something in the original source material that would have sucked major ass, on the big screen, so they made some tweaks to it.

You can get away with being more vague and leaving the readers to their imaginations in the books than you can in when people watch movies, where you are showing something that's physically visual.

I also wish that one day, our favorite video games (especially MK) will have a wonderful movie!!!

Also, c***y pricks and arrogant employees who don't know how to orient new comers deserve to get shot.

I agree it is unreasonable to expect all films to follow books to the tee. Book authors simply have a lot more flexibility in expressing ideas that would be hard to translate to film, which leans heavily towards audio and visual effects. For example, in book an author can at length describe the describe the horrible taste and smell of moldy cheese, while the film would be limited to the character's reaction or in some cases internal monologue.

That being said, film adaptions of books tend to water down or diverge from what the author intended. Books that are larger in scope are better suited to be broken down in a series rather than crammed to into a 2-hour film.

While that's true, what I was going for was EXACTLY what you said below.

IMO, if producers think that it's too much to fit into a 2-hour film, then they should make a 2nd movie, rather than watering it down in 1 movie, to make it fit.

What grinds my gears is that someone fed a mother cat and its kittens at my front door, during Thanksgiving, and now the f***ing cats are always there and it always smells like cat shit.
So f***ing annoying.
I need to put something like coffee grinds or pepper to get rid of them.

I don't mind domesticated cats and dogs, but I already found a dead cat on my front lawn earlier this year, and I had to put it into a garbage bag and throw it away because it smelled to terrible and was bloated.
I don't want to have to remove more dead animals from my front lawn.

Should have fed them the dead cat. Then keeping feeding the stragglers to the pack until there is only one cat left. And allow said champion to feast on all the scraps he so desires

i agree 110%. books and movies are 2 very different mediums and just because it works in a book dosent always mean it'll work the exact same way on screen.

Nothing wrong with being a purist.
One of the larger reasons Annihilation sucked is because damn near nothing that happened in the movie happened in the game.

Sure casual fans could give a shit less, but when Shinnok turned out to be the father of Raiden and Kahn (lol so nerdy sounding) all of us collectively had aneurysms

Yeah but Annihilation was like 150% inaccurate.

No reason to NOT hate the movie.
