Fixed: You can now save your unlocked UMK3 fighters.
Added: You can now put multiple filters on your games, making them suit your liking.
Added: You can also make the screen look like it's in an arcade format.
Added: Online play for Mortal Kombat 1.
Lost: Fullscreen ability
Lost: Spectator mode
Glitches: A few minor sound bugs, computer attacking before "Fight" disappears of the screen sometimes, not being able to move after unpausing the game, not able to use kombat kodes online and lag online.
Glitches = patchable / fixable. And pretty easily, at that.
Lost = no big deal, really.
All in all, this -IS- a superior port than MKAT, you can now save your characters, play MK 1 and 2 online, and set up your filters to your liking.
Guys, seriously? OH, let's not forget: This also has a limited edition MK1 arcade stick. So if you bought the arcade stick with this game, you really lost nothing and shouldn't complain. If you straight up downloaded this game, relax, it was 10$. Give it a few weeks before going balls to the wall insane, and see what fixes they come up with. I'm sure they'll come up with something, they usually do patch/fix things, especially lag issues. For your own peice of mind, email Other Ocean.
But really, there's no reason to go hating on Ed Boon, or to bring Danny into this or anyone else. Other Ocean developed the game. Ed Boon probably briefly saw the game and had the same reaction we all did: "Nice port, better than MKAT". There's no reason to jump the gun. QA issues, yes, they probably should have play-tested better. But that's hard to do when you have deadlines. And deadlines are part of the industry.
Again, the beautiful thing is, there are always ways to patch things. So stop moaning on the forum, make a constructive thread (I think I saw one already, to whoever used my idea, good job!) and start being pro-active so the game receives the fixes it needs. Once those fixes are into place, you'll literally have as close of a port as you can get.
But even then I'm sure there's going to be something wrong with it, right? Like maybe Kitana's boobs are too big, or something. *rolls eyes*.
C'mon guys, seriously here.
It's OK to be constructive and to vent, but mkgame, for you to go off on those rants, it was a bit over the top.
If you're in love with SF go ahead and enjoy third strike. I'm a MK fanatic, and I'll be patient and wait for the guys who I have faith in and have always had faith in (The MK team) to at least patch up the lag, as let's face it, I am sure they will.
You guys always set your expectations far too high.
You can't just expect these guys to deliver an arcade machine to your door. And while yes, MAME is an amazing arcade perfect port, and while yes, I do see your frustration that a pirated arcade game is better quality than what's on consoles, keep in mind programming stuff on an emulator like MAME may be easier than doing it for a console operating system to read. The XBOX 360 / PS3 is a tad complex, you know?
I'm not by far a computer programmer so I do not understand how it works, but I've got enough common sense to realize that MAME emulating on a program (that, by the way, MAME took YEARS to make), and emulating for consoles where you have a corporate deadline, are two different things.
Vent your anger at corporate america, not at the guys who busted their asses to do their best in that short amount of time given to them. Be constructive and try to get patches made. If you're polite then these guys will work over the top for you, if you're rude and pissy, they'll be less inclined to do a good job even if a patch is 'demanded'. Think about it.
