Problems with MKAK...

i really hope that if they come out with mk10, they listen to fans and bring them in to test it. i'm so sick of their netplay, i mean really? did someone from NRS really not consider putting region-locking in the game? not even matching people up based on ping? letting players decide if they want to play someone in a ranked match cuz this person might be from butt-f*** egypt and we once again get screwed out of a loss to someone who's accustomed to playing slow-s***....

please, john... if by chance you're reading this. go back to MK, you have a gift bro.

in closing, test your bs NRS.

If you're talking about MK9, MK9 is region locked b.t.w. (don't know if MK:AK is, hope not) And the netcode (after the patch) is quite good here in Europe, it works good here because the internet providers almost all provide high quality fiber lines. I think it's quite hard to test online play before release. And with MK9, NRS can use it as somekind of test platform for future MK's.
I don't know about MK:AK, it isn't yet released here, but first of all it was Other Ocean that made the game and not NRS. Also NRS stated that they will patch the game so it will meet up with everybody's standards. I know, I was pissed off too after hearing bad things about the Kollektion. But after NRS's statement of patching and hearing standpoints of other community members, I slowly started thinking different and in favour of NRS.
Let's all stop ranting, maybe some should look at reviews first and just wait for a patch to come out (we even have to wait 'till the game gets released).

it's not region-locked, i'm talking about actually customizing your settings to where you only play people from your country. SF had the option, from what i've been told, the game tries to match u up with the closest person before searching for others. the problem is, since there isn't a SET feature, you end up matching up with people from other countries.

i will take a pic of my recent players list, about 7 of the 10 matches i played, were all Brazil or from Chile. the connection with them is some of the worst s*** i've ever seen in my entire life. i understand if you do player match, that's not a big deal. idc about who i'm playing then, but on ranked? c'mon, they should have at least done a region-locking setting or at most ping-matching. i don't even play ranked anymore cuz i run into south american players all the time, it's no use to try and get your rank up.

this guy uses nightwolf all the time, you can't move, you can't avoid anything he does. he just sits back and tags u with arrows and blows u up with lighting. you're trying to react to what you're seeing/hearing, but it's always too late and you end up getting ram-jammed or combo'd. they don't care either cuz they're use to that delay because 95% of their matches are played with people in other countries.

i don't mean to rant, but it's a fighting game. settings like that are a must and as far as MKAK is concerned, that game was dead before it came out. it's not just the lag issues, but all 3 ports are completely flawed. honestly, i'm a huge classic MK fan and didn't play any of the 3d MK's until mk9 came out and i wish they would have re-did all 3 games from the ground up, like umk3 on xbl. you run into so many problems when you try and port a game from it's original version.

i'll tell u this much too, UMK3 is not fixable. they might be able to fix some of the lag, but that game runs way too fast to fix it completely. mk1/mk2 will be some what playable, but there's no fixing umk3. that game needs to be made from the ground up, the reason why umk3 ran smoother is because it was emulated differently.

nightwolf has a lightnin move in umk3? anyways, today i had some of the worst lag ever, yesterday wwas actually ok, but man i just quit playing out of frustration today

oh no ive just come back from holiday and was hoping something would have been fixed!! ah well looks like ill have to save up for a mk1 cab if i drop on one. Silly question but has boon and pals even acknowledged any of the nuisances for this yet?

The official Mortal Kombat Facebook page posted last week or so that they know about all the issues with MKAK and that a patch is in the works, and to stay tuned for details on when it will be released.

i'm telling u, NRS is just blowing smoke outta their a**. there's no fixing the umk3 port, if it does then i'll be extremely happy, but i seriously doubt it. u can just tell the game is not fixable with a patch, it needs to be emulated from the ground up. hence the reason why umk3 on xbl played smoother online. the game was re-built from the ground up, they removed frames, added more details to the characters/backgrounds, and tweaked the AI.

i feel bad for anybody who hasn't played the klassics in awhile and were excited to get back on them. you guys missed a great run with umk3 on xbla, best umk3 port i've ever played... online and offline

100% agree with ya, the digital eclipse port of UMK3 (and MK2 on PS3) were PERFECT! Never realised how good they really were until playing this abomination. Where are digital eclipse? they should have done this, imagine the job they would have done on MK1, they already had the other 2 ported perfectly. I would have paid full retail for a digital eclpise MK:AK

ya man, umk3 on xbl, while it might have been different, was awesome. the only thing that held that game back from being great was its lack of button mapping. i never played mk2 on the ps3, but if digital eclipse made it and you say it's good, then i'll take your word for it.

i'm just keeping my fingers crossed for an arcade-port of mk4, but re-done from the ground up. i know a lot of people hated that game, but i still think it's one of those hidden gems, i love that game... so many memories playing that on the n64 and going to the mall and seeing this kid there that would spend his whole day playing it. i remember seeing him play and i was just amazed at how good he was at it. he use to just sit there and make sure nobody would beat his record for most wins, nobody could beat him.

i really hope NRS eventually releases that game and at least make one more sequel with the klassic's game play, a real HD Kollection. just don't try and make 3 separate games, just redo Trilogy with new art, chars, and refine the engine so we don't have to deal with cheesy infinite combos and punch-blocks. idc if people complain about defense jabs, kara-jabbing, offensive glitch jabs, and etc... it's all the same, it's a programming error that needs to be removed, case closed.

i reckon nrs will see this comment and bring out a MKAK by digital eclipse within the end of the year. The MK2 on PS3 is not perfect at all, better than MKAK mind

They should have just focused on the games individually releasing them separately instead in a bundle. I would have gladly payed $5 to $10 bucks per game. I bet we would have gotten a much more polished product in the end.

i don't know if this was reported but is a HUGE bug.
sometimes when i play online i can't perform any special moves, and sometimes even in the entire match... just basic moves works..

I'm not sure if this has been reported, everytime I beat UMk3, the game crashes. Anyone?
I still got the achievements though. Weird

100% agree with ya there mate, just re-release the digital eclipse ver of UMK3 and bring the MK2 port over from the PS3 and i'd be a very happy bunny, they were practically perfect, i'd pay £10 each for them no problem. I know i keep going on about it but where are digital eclipse?! they did the best ports! They did the MK franchise proud
