Online Play

Re: PSN and MK online soon to be aftermath.

how is it different for xbox i am sure it's the same for both consoles you just might be the exception.

Re: PSN and MK online soon to be aftermath.

As a 360 user, I have two hopes:

1) This PSN outage will not drive any players away from Mortal Kombat 9.
2) This PSN outage WILL drive players away from the PlayStation copy of the game and towards the 360 copy.

The more the merrier, etc, etc.

I don't expect too many people to jump ship to a security system that was last updated in 2008 so all the information that just got leaked could get leaked a second time.

That is so true ^^ at least PSN has better security now :P. And 360 has gone offline before people, its not like only PS3 have only ever gone offline...

Re: PSN and MK online soon to be aftermath.

I would never buy a brand new console just because the PSN went down for a week...it just seems very unreasonable.

Re: PSN and MK online soon to be aftermath.

Mortal Kombat will be in stores all year round. Even if some are so impatient that they leave plenty will replace them once PSN is back up.

Re: PSN and MK online soon to be aftermath.

Sorry to say this, but you have to be a fool to think that this is not gonna hit Sony hard ! Harder than even they think. This is a big deal. A day or 2 would have been ok, but this long is unacceptable. What do you expect when you get it for free ???

How could anyone with sense ever believe that PSN's online experience is better than XBOX Live's online network ???

Again, not hating on PS3. It's a good system with great games, but jus sayin......

Honestly why is there always someone like this in a thread about PSN or XBL? Gotta love people with selective memory...
XBL has also gone down for over a week before, besides paying for something doesn't necessarily mean it's better, if that's the case then the PS3 hardware was lightyears ahead of the 360 upon release. $600 or $300? Does the $600 mean the PS3 was twice as good as the Xbox? Absolutely not!

Most of the people I know who have both actually prefer PSN online because of the generally great community as opposed to the notoriously poor XBL online community. It's all opinion based anyway, I say one thing you say another doesn't mean one of us is wrong or correct. Just makes us both look like fanboys.

MK Finally Acknowledges Online Issues. Working To Fix it. Weee!

From the official site...

"Thank you for supporting Mortal Kombat! Due to the overwhelmingly positive reception to the game, Mortal Kombat has millions of online matches being initiated worldwide every day, and we have run into some unanticipated technical issues. Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment and NetherRealm Studios are aware of the issues with the online gameplay – specifically with "King of the Hill" and Ranked 1 v. 1 matches - and we want to assure our fans that we are focused on resolving online issues ASAP. We have added a “Technical Issues” section to our forum so please be sure to let us know what issues you are having so we can address those as soon as possible. Users will begin seeing improvements in online play over the course of the next two weeks. In the meantime please note that none of this will impact the single-player or offline multiplayer experience, and we greatly appreciate your patience!"

Good news.

This makes me happy.

It sounds like they're saying that the online problems is from super heavy traffic.

Finally an update about online play!

I had twitter open, and suddenly I get a tweet from one of the many MK twitters I follow, it led to this link.

http://bit.ly/kZyuKo

Basically it says they're aware of the lag, in the next couple of weeks we should see an improvement.

EDIT: The twitter thingy is @MK_MortalKombat

For those of you that don't want to click on a link. Or just don't want to make an account on that site to read what it says. I'll double post just this once so I can paste what it says on that site.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

FINALLY an official statement from NRS. I'm very please about this. Goes to show the petition I made wasn't in vain to hehe. Time to get in ze lab with more Jade & Kitana stuff. ;p

Re: Finally an update about online play!

I guess all the pre-orders and purchases from last week didn't justify this being addressed earlier?:bs:

Re: Finally an update about online play!

At least it's finally been addressed though at all. Even better they're saying we should see improvements in the new two weeks. I was expecting some DLC announcement down the line, maybe next month or something, and MAYBE by then they'd go "also we're working on patch.." Then months would go by waiting on MS to get the patch online, etc etc.

The game hasn't been out THAT long. So personally I'm just plain happy that it's getting fixed at all. Hell, I'm happy just to hear them say something about it!

Re: Finally an update about online play!

Great news, makes me happy. I had the chance to play a handful of games online and they were hit and miss. I really hope they can get it worked out.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

I hate to burst everyone bubble but if anyone bought UFC Undisputed 2010 powered by Gamespy(pieces of ****) Then this is a walk down memory lane. The truth is the online won't be fixed for at least a year I'd put $ on it. Most people will have already put the game down before they can play online properly.
