Online Play

Re: Finally an update about online play!

And where exactly did you poke holes in my example?
BTW: yes, when Microsoft started with MSDOS, it was pretty much Bill Gates alone who sold it to IBM. And he had pretty much nothing to sell at the time.
MSDOS kept being arguably worse than Unix, and later, Windows always was second (or worse) to others (Amiga OS, MacOS, Linux, you name it).

Microsoft didn't even come up with windows, they bought it from xerox, who wrote it but didn't see the potential in it, so they almost gave it to Bill Gates for free.

Your argument that Windows 7 is a quality system is pretty much a prime example what marketing can achieve.
Have you even had a look at Linux or MacOS recently? Most GNU/Linux distributions and MacOS are by far still superior to Windows. The fact that Windows still can't manage multiple desktops like Unix already could decades ago is not even worth laughing at.

And still, after decades of being a sub par OS, Windows still dominates the market. And why? Because Bill Gates knows how marketing works, how to buy out or simply root out any competition.
You don't have to have the best product, you have to have people think you have the best product, or better yet: the only product.

And as I already said, this is ONE example and there are many many more for anyone willing to use their head and actually compare products themselves instead of relying on commercials and review magazines that sell out to the highest bidder anyway.

You are talking ******** tbh... the fact why so many ppl use Windows is simple... Games. Im a long time Linux user, currently Gentoo and Ubuntu and the ONLY reason why i use Windows is... Games, i want to play all Games and esecially in an easy way... no Wine/hq and all that crap is not acceptable comapred to how it works on Windows, and all the Bugs Mouse Problems and all that stuff which sucks on Linux if you wanna play serious... just sucks. And sorry to say, but that has NOTHING to do with marketing, i dont need Windows 7 ADs to let me know that Linux sucks when it comes to Gaming on a PC.

I made so much PCs of my Family with Ubuntu instead of Windows, and they are all happy, and they dont even care about any OS... they just bought a PC with Windows on it... thats it. Problem is, you buy a PC and you will get Windows, not Linux.

Then... tell me one single SERIOUS Gamer that prefers Linux over Windows for Games like Starcraft 2, World of Warcraft, CoD and all these great Games. If someone says that hes just gonna lie, that simple. So... tell the Game Developers to do native Linux Software then LOTS of ppl will switch to Linux, for sure.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

I played online for the first time yesterday and the lag is awful. A game like this is going to sell big for it's online play, so they need to sort it fast.

Re: PSN and MK online soon to be aftermath.

Not at all. PSN being down simply means that PS3 players will not have the ability to take MK online until PSN is back up. People who take fighting games online are serious gamers...they won't let the fact that PSN is down deter them from playing MK when it comes back up. Do you think everyone who was waiting for SOCOM is going to be done with it and not play it when PSN finally comes back up? If anything, sales will jump up from the release date and it'll see an online boom. Same goes for MK. Believe me, when PSN comes back the competition for MK will be fierce. Hopefully because im not buying a new system, i love my ps3 too much. But also i just hope NRS releases a new patch to improve online play. The thing is also im nervous for competitive play because i dont know anyone in my area, that wants to do competitve mk. also in the face that i play as Stryker even tho hes as even as sub-zero. but also my tag partner choices are baraka, nightwolf and johnny cage who ive played with. ive done well with either one.

yeah, because back in the MSDOS days, Bill Gates told IBM they could play on their machines. THAT'S how he sold his OS and started Microsoft...

How bloody dumb are you pathetic little scumbag whose whole life seems to evolve about nothing but games?

I won't even waste my time with you, NEXT.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

Im pretty sure there is always going to be some form of lag between people of different countries. The only people with super fast internet that i know of is korea and japan. your best bet is to try and play someone in your own country, atleast then you may have a chance at no lag.

Re: PSN and MK online soon to be aftermath.

I have ALL 7 Retro codes to put in, just waiting for PSN to come back up. Get a move on Sony!

For what it's worth, the Manager in GAME has just told me that he's heard that a skeleton PSN will be up on May 3rd.

Re: Online Grouping System

I have found that NRS put their focus on the player matches and not the ranked. Notice that in player matches you get to see the connection of the person you fight against, Notice that stats that are tracked, Notice that you get respect points that can be earned.

Now what do get for using ranked mode? Stats that are tracked, a long wait to fight someone, and laggy matches because you can not choose to decline a bad connection. The main reason to play a ranked match should be to get rank titles that show some level of your playing skill but NRS did not even bother to include online rank titles in the game.

I really wanted to get into rank matches for this game but NRS has made it so that there is no real reason not to just use player matches instead.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

Er.. there's still alot of lag with playing in your own country.. That's what the big fuss is about. These days good netcode you CAN play people from other countries depending on how much distance. For instance I can play a EU friend as if they were in the US on Blazblue for instance. So i hope the patch makes the netcode GOOD not jus decent. We'll jus have to wait and see.

U mad bro?

How cynical do you have to be to think every corporation is out to get you? I'm not trying to argue that Windows is best on the market, just that they don't sell a weak product. It does what it does well. It may not be the best for the computer geek, but it works for the average joe who picks it up.

Again, I doubt NRS is going to **** us over about online play. It would be an incredibly stupid thing to do, especially with a game they want to be tournament worthy.

Chill out, amigo.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

I just want them to fix freaking PSN so that I can play online, lag or no lag. >:C

I'm still not getting an Xbox. You can't make me. I refuuuuuuse!

Re: Finally an update about online play!

Apparently development online testing for games is totally inadequate considering how many games are released as blithering laggy messes - and must be patched after release.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

If NRS wants MK9 to be taken seriously they need to fix the lag ASAP. I can't even do a good amount of combos online because they require perfect timing.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

Does anyone seem to lag more on Ranked than Player Matches? It's annoying because any real challenges would be in Ranked. Not complaining though, lag or no lag this game was well worth what I paid.

Re: Finally an update about online play!

ITT: People who would have found something to complain about even if the game had came out completely perfect.

Give them a break guys, dudes work three years straight on this game, and put it out. I'm sure they figured on release day that people would have plenty single player stuff to do before going online. So they assumed wrong, or maybe they just took a week off to recharge? Either way, and in my opinion, all of your attitudes... Well at least the bunch of "they should have said something, this is stupid, fix it now"... are way out of line.

I still don't understand, that even after so many years of technology in general always being shaky and never completely perfect, there's still people out there that expect it to be.

It's okay you all, stuff happens like this and it's what keeps us human. Worry more about the day when nothing breaks. When that happens it'll be because robots control us, and have made us slaves. Be happy shit breaks, so that humans can still be number one on this earth.

Sure I understand it sucks, but adapt to it. I've timed the lag, and changed my play style accordingly. Yeah it can be frustrating, but I've been able to play around it. Try and do the same, because you can complain all you want, it won't help the matter, only make you look like a child.

Sorry this is just totally wrong. You don't work for three years developing a new type of car and market it intensively if you can only put it in drive and not reverse. You cannot sell this car to millions of people without reverse. Either you knew reverse didn't work when you sold the car and you are a crook, or you didn't know reverse didn't work and you are incompetent. No matter what, it is up to you, who sold the car, to fix the problem immediately, and not cry about how you need time off before you fix the crippled product that you dumped on the buyer.

If the company can repair the reverse gear defect in short order for all customers, and fix an otherwise great product, doubtless the flaw will be forgotten in a couple of months. However, if the company forces people to suffer for an extended period of time with their defective product, they will have to pay the price, and deservedly so.

Re: Online Private Match Customization?

It would be kind of cool being able to "fix" the Test Your Luck reels.

Because a car is just as important as a game. Cars have the potential to kill several people, games don't. Using an extreme to get your point across isn't a good strategy because car companies have to abide by certain regulations, and if they don't, they can face severe legal action. If a video game, however, lacks a good netcode, it isn't going to kill somebody or put somebody is harms way or make you waste several thousand dollars.

Besides, a netcode for a video game isn't as important as being able to go backwards in a car. I can still do a ton of shit with a bad netcode, but without reverse, I can't legally drive a car at all.

You need to chill bro. Stop acting like your hot shit because your sitting behind a keyboard and know that no matter what you say nothing can fall back on you. I doubt you would say this to someone's face.

Great point. But, at least you can play online. I would play with lag anyday then no online play at all. But, like you said I have adapted. I just sorely want to play online.

Re: Online Grouping System

I think this thread is the best one to ask this.
If i buy the new MK for the PS3 in USA and want to play with people form Europe will i be able to do that or is there a "blocade" or something, which allows me to play only with users that live in USA?
