Ermac confirmed for mkx? (pic in thread)

I honestly think this Ermac looks pretty cool.

I wouldn't have been able to instantly tell it was Ermac if the MKX trailer wasn't out yet.

But if Boon randomly posted that w/o the green. I think I would be able to recognize that as Ermac, simply because I got to see Scorpion and Subzero before hand so I know what to expect sort of for other re-dos.

If a random dude posted that image w/o the green on smash boards, or somewhere not-MK related. I probably might not be able to tell.

But I can tell as long as I know it's MK related before looking at it.

If you look at the face image really closely, you can see his nose/skin behind that mask. It's light purple dead looking skin. Pretty cool.

Obviously, I don't play those games as much, so I apologize, but from the stuff I've seen, it just looks like the same stuff with minor changes to the costume.

I might of understood with Tekken...but Soul Calibur? You can't form opinions out of such a small sample.

But the point I'm trying to make, is that I don't want to keep looking at the same old costume over and over again. Sure, characters have their iconic features, but is it that bad of a thing to want a change of appearance? According to majority of you, yeah, it is.

The way you worded it, you made it seem like consistent is a negative thing. I'm not resistant to change, I just don't like change for its own sake.

Which I find completely funny because I can think of two characters that had a drastic change and they're Sub-Zero and Reptile.

So many people "liked" (*shivers) Reptile's Deadly Alliance look, and that was a completely different costume that we've never seen before with Reptile. And people STILL recognized him as a Reptile.

Sub-Zero's Shredder look was a look we've never seen before with the "ninjas" of Mortal Kombat. But people jumped on the fan wagon for his look (not sure about his pony tail one).

In spite of Reptile's inhuman appearance in DA, he still wore the costume that is associated with MK ninjas. Helmet and other embelishments aside, the base design for Deception Sub-Zero hasn't changed that much. Like all MK ninjas, he still has black with a colored vest that splits in a V shape.

There can be change to the look and people can still recognize the characters. It's not that hard to just look at something for a bit and appreciating the work instead of immediately going to the first thing that pops into the mind, which is either Scarecrow or an Assassin's Creed character.

Kudos to the artist for his excellent technical ability. Aside of from excessive straps on the coat, I like the design in a vaccuum. However, it's barely recognizable from previous iterations of Ermac, especially without any context to work with. Replacing most of the brown with black would be a step in the right direction.

After seeing the gameplay reveal, the new Ermac design suits the game perfectly. Much want for the new Ermac.

If Ermac really is in, then I hope to see a revision of his MK3 Telekinetic Slam fatality, as 1 of them..
Based on the fatalities shown last night (Holy SHIT!!!! by the way), I think NRS could do Ermac's MK3 fatality revamp, without it looking cheesy.

Speaking of fatalities, did anyone else notice skin rotting (Bee Lady's fatality), and that there didn't seem to be cut-points for fatalities?
(Sub-Zero and Scorpion's fatalities).

Looking at this Ermac kinda gives me the Scarecrow from Batman vibe. With that being said I think this render looks dope and would love to see Ermac in MKX. He has always been a favorite of mine.

If it's not a red ninja, then it's not Ermac.

I'm ok with this design, don't care that it isn't as ninja like since mk ninjas never resembled actual ninjas, and technically i think scorpions the only one officially referred to as a ninja at this point in the canon. sub zero and lin kuei have been retconned as NOT ninja, since they're based on a chinese group of assassins and ninjas are not and never have been chinese. reptile is, well a lizard from another dimension, rain is edenian, and ermac isn't even a human being, the term "ninja" is used so loosely by MK fans it basically means anything with a mask.

i like the pic but i dont see ermac. i get more of a tim burton whimsical forrest elv vibe from it rather than a Ninja. much prefer the Mk9 designs for ermac.

this silhouette does not appear to be on the roster.... Ermac is my favorite... sooo fingers crossed....

I really like this design.

Absolutely love this! i hated the red scorpion/sub zero rip off and didnt like any of his ones after that. This fits him perfectly.

But he totally is a dark red. it's like the said "we want this one to be darker" and then they went from bright red to burgandy. i mean it's a different shade, but he's red.

I like what they did to the character in MK9.
And love Ermac's intro in the storymode, but hey when i play as Ermac i only play in his Classic Costume.

I can understand people not liking the design, to each his own (I love it, personally), but, really, it`s way better than being a palette swap. It`s great that the other ninjas have been getting their own designs over time. Being a swap is just lazy.

Rain, plz.

Being a palette swap is a huge NO this far into the game. Keeping the colors that made these characters identifiable in the past is definitely necessary I think... But the design needs to be its own thing.
