Do people still play online?

Hi everybody, I'm a new user. I would like to buy MK9 but I don't know if there are still people playing it online, and don't want to buy the game if an important part of it is dying because of a community that has lost interest. Thank you. :) Oh, and I'm a Xbox360 user.

Look at it this way, most of the noobs and casuals are gone, which is a good thing. I usually only play with TRMK or EU heads now in KoH. I do play Ranked, and that's usually only if no one else is online. The fact i've been running a online tournie probably has boosted things, somewhat round here at least. I really am quite keen to go to a offline tournie at some point, but i want to get my Fightstick skills down to the point that im able to play and do in exactly the same way I could on my pad, and then some.

People still play. About 100 in total as far as in-game lobbies. Really sad when you look at it compared to the first few months.

It is sad really how its died almost totally 112 people in the EU is the best ive seen over the past few months, allthough i rarely play atm. Its nothing to do with folk getting bored its, ****y arrogant attitudes of people who consider them selfs to be godlike players. The nonsense on the chat room, etc probably really puts a vast majority off. I started playing ranked more now just so i dont have read the crap people put on there. I shouldnt let it get to me but it really winds me up. Allthough sometimes i have a go back. Also i think people exploiting vortexes, frame traps etc will put alot of people off. Some people seem to think they are awesome bcause they have learned how to do these and exploit them over and over, but to be fair they should not be in the game. I highly doubt they set out to make a balanced fighting game and put these kind of things in as a actual strategy. I think it will put alot of folk of when they have done a reasonable amount of practice then go onlien only to put into a seemingly impossible battle loaded with cursing and homophobic/racist gibberish. The fans accidentally end up killing it in the end. goes without saying really considering they make it. Scrubs, noobs whatever gone id prefer to have more people playing of different skills for variety of fights.

Thank you for all of your answers, and sorry for possible grammar mistakes: I'm Italian. Uhm... I know what is the situation online, played the game for two months after its release but then I sold it because I completed it. Now I feel like playing it again, so should buy the game a second time with a new account, since have a new Xbox and no savegames, sigh! Anyway, I like playing online and don't mind about the community or the chat, never payed attention to that stuff: I was in top 50 in June so am pretty experienced, but I play for fun and, even though I like to win, at the end of the day it's just a game. After reading what you all wrote I'm quite doubtful: I mean, MK is still young, not even a year has passed, but fear that if I buy the game now I'm going to end up all alone, and totally adore the idea of working my way up the leaderboards from the scratch. :)

Re get the game, you won't regret it. I've run two online tournies from here and both have been really fun and competitive. Hit me up with a PM and you can be on the next one (for the 360 only).

yes ppl still play online, its actually more competative now that everybody knows how to use their mains properly therefore ppl are not spaming as much, is funny because ive been playing ssfiv a lot for like 3 weeks straight and then i try to play mk again and i was getting served left and right by noobs lol, as good as i am with sek and noob it felt like i was playing for the first time. its natural for an online community to not be as strong as it once was considering how nowadays theres great games being made more frequently. my top games will be umvc3,kof xiii,bf3 and mw3 but ill make sure i squeeze in a few hours a week for mk.

I don't mind really. It's mostly good players who are left.

Minus the large surplus of noobs we got during christmas.
