kadell, agreed 100%.
While we're on the topic of cash grabs, these same type of hypocritical opinions / biases are also around with reboots / remasters / definitive editions / collections.
It's annoying when some 'tard goes around saying "I bought a next-gen console to play next-gen games, not remasters / ports. Hurr, durr," and then a little later down the line a remaster or port that they want comes out, and suddenly remasters and reboots are fine.
I get that people want more sequels instead of remasters / ports (I do to), but people need to understand that these remasters aren't aimed at them.
The people who've already played these games aren't their target market.
The target market for these remasters / re-releases that these devs aim at are usually people who haven't played the games, prior to a sequel coming out and I have 4 gaming examples to prove my point:
- Halo MCC
- Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection
- Fallout Anthology (PC only)
- Dishonored Definitive Edition
^^
Case in point.
All of those have had (or will have) a sequel coming out and they got the Collection / remaster / port treatment because a sequel was coming out after it, and they wanted to catch people up before said sequels came out.
These are many more examples, but these are just a few.
This also includes games that suddenly become BC, and a sequel comes out *cough*GearsOfWar4*cough*
