What Grinds your Gears, part 2

kadell, agreed 100%.

While we're on the topic of cash grabs, these same type of hypocritical opinions / biases are also around with reboots / remasters / definitive editions / collections.
It's annoying when some 'tard goes around saying "I bought a next-gen console to play next-gen games, not remasters / ports. Hurr, durr," and then a little later down the line a remaster or port that they want comes out, and suddenly remasters and reboots are fine.

I get that people want more sequels instead of remasters / ports (I do to), but people need to understand that these remasters aren't aimed at them.
The people who've already played these games aren't their target market.
The target market for these remasters / re-releases that these devs aim at are usually people who haven't played the games, prior to a sequel coming out and I have 4 gaming examples to prove my point:
- Halo MCC
- Uncharted: Nathan Drake Collection
- Fallout Anthology (PC only)
- Dishonored Definitive Edition

^^
Case in point.
All of those have had (or will have) a sequel coming out and they got the Collection / remaster / port treatment because a sequel was coming out after it, and they wanted to catch people up before said sequels came out.

These are many more examples, but these are just a few.
This also includes games that suddenly become BC, and a sequel comes out *cough*GearsOfWar4*cough*

Commander Let me add something that's worse. Two things at that.

People love questioning why gamers love to purchase remastered games from the last gen. What they don't understand is that it's more than just buying a game to play a game. For example, for the 4th time, I purchased the first Resident Evil game. My reason for doing so is not only for the trophies and love of the game, but I also want to use my purchase to send a message to Capcom that I don't want another RE6, but instead I want RE game that'll be going back to it's roots. Another game is Tomb Raider. I could've easily bought the X-Box 360 game, but instead I wanted to play it for the full price because the game is amazing and I want an Amazing Sequel (which according to many people it is). Same could be applied to people who rebuy Dishonored (though I still haven't bought the PS4 version yet).

Then you have people who are fans of games that are no longer in the hands of certain developers anymore. This would bring fear to anyone who has their franchise in someone else's hands. So because people want sequels to their favorite games and they want the games to have better quality, they decide to go ahead and repurchase a remaster of the games. For instance, THQ got shut all the way down, so of course many of their games have been spread to other companies. People were actually questioning all of the people who said they were gonna purchase the Darksiders 2 remaster, and everyone said exactly what I was thinking: "We're buying the remaster because we want an amazing sequel." But then look at other THQ Games that went to other people: WWE 2K series? Saints Row 4? Homefront 2? To some extent the WarHammer Games? No, just no.

Which leads to my second thing, and that's the fact that the people complaining about these remasters haven't even played a game in said remasters' franchises. An example is Dishonored. They want to tell people stop accepting the Dishonored remaster but they don't even know who Granny Rags is, let alone what "Blink" is. They complained about the Resident Evil remaster, but don't even know what Raccoon City is. They complained about Darksiders 2 remastered, but don't even know the names of the four horsemen. They complained about people begging for the FF7 Remake, but they don't even know what Shinra is. People complained about FFX/X-2, but don't know who Tidus is. People complained about Uncharted remastered, but don't even know who Sully is. There are people who complained about the Zelda remasters, but still don't know what a Triforce is. Heck, there are gonna be people who'll be complaining about the Elder Scrolls: Skyrim remaster, but will question why we don't hold on to our money until Skyrim 2 comes out. And anyone who actually plays those games knows exactly what's wrong with that statement.

I for one, like remasters or simple re-releases. Too many older titles get wasted as gaming platforms advance, especially consoles. Hoarding old consoles and copies of games can only go so far, as they will eventually go through wear and tear (RIP my first PS3) and they will only get harder to find with time. The compilations that Sega released is a godsend, as I never owned a Genesis.

About, the FF7 remake, I think people are concerned that the remake being a radically different game than the original, especially scrapping the traditional ATB system for something more action-oriented.

I'm looking forward to the remastered FFXII. It is based on International Zodiac version, which wasn't available in North America.

Walgreens Exclusive Funko Pops.
Actually all exclusives grind my gears but Walgreens is absolutely the worst and most unorganized. I want this Unmasked Spider Gwen Funko Pop because unlike the Hot Topic Exclusive one, she has her hood up on her costume.

But finding one at a Walgreens is damn impossible. Not only does Walgreens always have low stock of Funko Pops, only having like five to ten total, but you cannot check stock on Walgreens. Even on their app, it only indicates how many Funko Pops are at the store, it doesn't tell which ones specifically. Then when you call, the employees have no idea what you're talking about. She's so hard to find that she's already quadrupled in price on EBay thanks to it being a Walgreens exclusive, and it JUST came out. So upset, I've ranted to so many about this.

it grinds my gears that i have never seen any MK funko pops.

I'm 1 of those people that did that with Dishonored on PS4.
I had it on PS3, but my disc got scratched up in October, so in November of last year I got it for PS4.
It'll be nice to have part 1 & part 2 on the same console, when the sequel comes out this year.
Kind of wish that NRS / WB would release an MK9 port to PS4 and X1, so that I can let go of the PS3.

Fake people grind my gears, especially in the work place. The ones that smile in your face and talk shit behind your back; they are vile scum of human beings that will do anything to get ahead. I'm a no nonsense type of person and I'm very real and open. Being a conniving person never ends well for anyone.

This Chicago weather. Because if I step outside, I'll have a heat stroke-inducing Syncopal episode.

What is syncope?

Syncope is temporary loss of consciousness and posture, described as "fainting" or "passing out." It's usually related to temporary insufficient blood flow to the brain. It most often occurs when the blood pressure is too low (hypotension) and the heart doesn't pump a normal supply of oxygen to the brain.

Except mine has more triggers than low blood pressure, and I've been battling this for almost ten years now.

What I have is actually called:
Vasovagal syncope (vay-zoh-VAY-gul SING-kuh-pee) occurs when you faint because your body overreacts to certain triggers, such as the sight of blood or extreme emotional distress. It may also be called neurocardiogenic syncope.

Had nine nice months of Syncope free, then what happens? I have one, and it made a LOT of my family members, two of which are nurses, thought I was having a seizure. One of them was so frightened that she thought I was going to need CPR because I was not moving, my eyes were fixed, and I just was not talking.

I hate this heat. But yet, I love summer.

One word... "Cliques". Whether in school and clubs (especially gay clubs). I hate to say this but I will not be surprised if another "Orlando" type of shooting occurs because of it. It's very disappointing and shameful especially for the gay community...

Same, I've never bought into the idea of alienating others. To me, this is one of the many flaws humans have. I've always been the outcast, so maybe that's why I despise it so much.

I didn't know it was like that in gay clubs; I've only been to them a few times though. Goth clubs tend to be cliquey as well.

cab drivers that always assume that youre paying with cash. they never look very happy if youre paying with debit lol.

also if you eat out, the cashiers always assume that your order is to go.

another thing when you eat out at like a real resteraunt you get this big freakin meal and they give you ONE napkin. they are so cheap.

self check out grinds my gears. i wont support it because its taking away jobs that people could have. even if im just getting a bottle of water ill go wait in a line up of 10 people.

Right?! Lol

And when we (gay community) say "Love Wins", I don't see it from those individuals who are territorial. They say it but don't actually do it. Talk about hypocrisy. :(

Businesses, they are charged a processing fee when customers use their credit or debit cards. That's way some business may even impose a miniminal charge for credit cards.

Of course it could also be simple matter of greed, especially in occupations that are dependent on tipping. Besides, the credit card companies carding a processing fee, it's a also money that is to be reported to the agency responsible for collecting taxes. I'm not sure if it applies to Canada, but in the US, waiters get taxed based on the tips they are expected to get. Card transactions can be tracked, while with cash you can under report the income made. Also, money is more valuable the sooner you have access to it. You will have to wait for paycheck from card transactions, while cash is what you get at the end of your swift.

I work at a restaurant, most guests are fine with one napkin. In the event that any guests want another, they can simply ask for it.

That being said, if it's a restaurant that serves inherently messy foods like barbecue slathered in sauce, , they could be more generous, especially if they use paper napkins.

Bethesda goes on stage at QuakeCon, shows Doom MP DLC on the live stream, shows new Prey footage on the live stream..............cuts off the stream and shows new Dishonored 2 Corvo gameplay footage behind closed doors.

Waiting around for nothing grinds my gears to no end. :_mad:

Ok. Shady attitudes of certain places drove me to decide that whenever I rate any place (whether in Yelp or Facebook), attitudes of people (employees and customers) are a MAJOR factor for the ratings. If certain customers are not doing well, employees should find a way to kick them out if they don't want their places to get negative reviews. That includes cliques if shady catty queens to be kicked out of any attitude is given. Employees can either kick the negative customers out or they can take the bad reviews. One or the other.

I say that they should take the negative reviews and learn from their mistakes.
If they get constant bad reviews from various customers, then most of the times it's the employees not doing their job right.
Sure, sometimes you get rude customers who want to get a freebie, but not everyone is like that, and if there are constant complaints about service from various customers then it's obviously not the customers.

Speaking of business establishments..
I work in customer service, (not always, thankfully) and it irks me when elderly people think I'm not knowledgeable about certain things because I'm younger. I'm almost 28, mind you..but I look 19 to some, apparently. Anyway, they shrug me off and ask the same question to an older employee. Wouldn't you know that they get the exact same answer? Don't assume things, people.

When you're throwing application after application in for some job, even if it has nothing to do with the field you're trying to get into and NO ONE responds.

Oh just follow up. Yeah, and get the same ole' response every time.

It gets frustrating, especially when you're trying to move into a condo and you're finding more issues that needs money to solve and your boyfriend can't always handle it.
