What character surprised/disappointed you?

Have you seen their "too close" round win animation? Torr grabs Ferra's hand and walks her away from the body before slinging her on his back.

That's it. Screw Kitana and Mileena and Sonya and everyone else. I'm maining Ferra and Torr.

My only problem with Ferra/Torr is that Ferra speaks like a 4 year old.

"No deal, we paired forever!"
"Never end now!"
"Torr will hurt!"

Has Kano basically not having a move list always been a thing? I was surprised by the lack of strings compared to other characters. Playing him simply does not feel natural.

I know right, how am I suppose to get a 10x hit combo with his or lack of Combos...And he's my Favorite character/Main

But as far as disappoints go-
Kotal Kahn- He is so frustrating to learn and sluggish
Kung Jin- I guess Im just not meant to get how he is played...so annoying lol

Don't get me wrong I still love the game but these guess frustrate me the most right now

One thing that disappointed me even before the game came out, are some costumes. Jacqui,Cassie,Sonya, and Johnny have this military kind of outfit which I hate because they look too similar with each other. Nevertheless, they're gameplay is better than I expected.

Surprise
-Sub-Zero cryomancer is just awesome and fun to use.
-Shinnok - Didn't expect to steal Brutalities and have 42% combos
-D'Vorah!! I really love her gameplay

Disappointed with:
-Kotal (That guy is sooo slow)
-Reptile (Can't use him at all)

Not yet, but I'll totally do my cute face the moment I see that!

Being that they're not from Earthrealm, being that they're only used as guards, and being that they most likely come from an uncivilized background, Ferra wouldn't know how to speak English fluently and perfect. It makes her character even more unique.

1. They finally blessed Sub Zero and Scorpion, it was overdue.
2. The biggest surprise for me was how much I like Quan Chi's Warlock and Sorcerer.
3. Raiden is truly "The god of Thunder"!
4. I want to get good with Jaqui and Cassie but my brain is overloaded with Scorp, Quan Chi and Raiden.

I can't get sh!t right with my MK9 main Mr. Lao.

Kung Jin surprised me
such a cool character - never thought I would like playing a green arrow MKX style character lol but Kung Jin is dope

This is the first time, I've ever really enjoyed Reptile, while not enjoying Sub Zero who I usually play the most over the series history.

After playing for a while I'm disappointed with Kotal Khan. Seems slow, sluggish, and easily punishable, even more so than Goro. Not to mention trying to set up his totems is a PITA.

That said, my biggest surprise is Kenshi's humor. Goodness does he have some witty lines now.

This, sadly. I had been looking forward to Kotal for a long time, but I don't see how he's viable against good players online. Even an excellent Kotal player would surely get annihilated by a good Kitana or Kano player. I like his War God variation because it gives you much better reach and the weapon itself is pretty strong, but he's still slow as hell. I wish they'd speed him up a bit generally in a patch =/

I also miss MK9 Quan Chi. The new one is too tall and sluggish; not quite as bad as Kotal, but not too far off. I can't seem to do any decent combos with him, whereas in MK9 he had some nice strings and was surprisingly agile.

So far I am sticking to Goro (which I never anticipated) and have been pleasantly surprised by Kano. None of my favourites (Rain, Smoke, Noob) are in.

I'm pretty much the same, I just can't get used to the slowness of Kotal Khan or Ferra/Torr! Both seem far to slow for me to get anything going with.

Hardly tried anyone yet properly, other than Liu Kang and I've had Goro in the practice. Not found much yet, 30% no meter corner combo, keen to try and find some other stuff

A tip for you, by the way.

If you want to farm some wins/koins and XP/FXP, use Goro and play a load of towers. You can spam his main moves (punch walk, dragon fang spin, projectile, stomp) ad nauseum and the AI can't do much about it unless you're playing on hard or above.

I'm not saying it's classy, but if you're not a great player (and I'm not either) then it's a pretty safe strat to learn how to play Goro, get gold for the Krypt and level up your personal and faction profiles.

Cheers bud.

Think I'd do fine vs CPU with Goro playing normally anyway to be honest. I've done the arcade tower on medium with Kang easily and Kung Jin (was fine until Corrupted Shinnok spammed that chest blast over and over!)

The Goro 30% corner combo is super easy to learn though.

I'd like to try Jax out a bit. Never been a Jax fan in any of the games really but this time he looks pretty good

Yeah, Jax and Kano are the two characters who've surprised me in terms of being really fun to play. I wasn't that keen on Jax being in from a story perspective, but I will admit that he's fun to play. I want to give his Wrestler variation a shot.

I beat Super Shinnok first time with Goro, which was the first (and so far only) arcade tower I've done. As you say, his main tactic is just to spam that bloody annoying beam thing, but once you get close up he's relatively defenceless, and it's easy to just block his beam and stomp him.

I might try Jax as my next arcade run through, actually. Thanks for reminding me. I'll add you later tonight and we can try a few games if you like. I want to get some of those skins that require KOTH and vs. games so if you want to team up for that every so often we can help each other out.

Sounds good mate, don't think I will be on tonight though, not actually sure when I'm next on other than in the mornings before work!

I beat Shinnok easily with Liu Kang. I did the 5 character Shokan challenge tower the other day where you use Goro which was simple enough.

Need to get used to a few characters now so I'm keen to do some VS :)

Also, Takeda has been disappointing when i played as him, not sure what it is about him!

What has started to surprise me is that I may have separate 'neXt gen' and 'classic' favourites lists. MK9 being the classic remake it was kept my favourites in order from what they were in the 90's. This game has been a shock to the system. I don't like Mileena all that much and I prefer Sub Zero over Scorpion. Not been interested in Sub since MK2.

But you've gotta admit he's much better than the MK9 Sub-Zero (gameplay).
