What character surprised/disappointed you?

Kotal is the biggest disappointment. he's super slow and his special moves take forever so half the time you won't even be able to get them off. Kratos was so much better.
 
I once again gave him a try, but, yeah, his inputs are not good IMO, and his attacks are slow.

I've been having a really hard time online against Erron Black players spamming rifle moves to where I can't get to them. Granted I'm missing something I'm sure because I'm a new player, but it's really frustrating to get matched up with multiple people a night that don't do anything except sit at one corner of the screen and spam a cheap move over and over. As far as general characters go, I like them all and think they're all cool looking and fit well into the story. I'm hoping to see more of the old roster back in the game as time goes along.
 
Good way to get through a zoner is one of the teleport characters or just plain outzoning them. I know playing as Shinnok i have alot of trouble with Scorpion/Mileena.

Which one do you prefer? I like Bone Shaper more than the other two.

Not only more kombos, but an Amulet strike of long range.
 
After my first online experience, I will say that I am highly disappointed in the way I've seen a lot of Shinnok users.

Spam, and it's not the good kind where they're virtually unstoppable or whatever. That damn Shang Tsung move he has with the amulet, I'd appreciate if the players I went up against could have used a better strategy against me because 1.) The move doesn't go all the way towards the end of the screen, it stops like right before it can touch me when I'm at the furthest point away from my opponent, 2.) Easily blockable and 3.) Could have been performed with an easy combo to do more damage than just blasting the move twice.

Granted that yeah, first week with the game, not everyone is experienced as much as they think they are, but I've seen some good players during the first week of online game play.


(A person really is asking for a better challenge with spam moves? What?)

I use Necromancer, limited on combos but its got a ton of mixup options for keeping them at a distance and if they get close you have the amulet/shoulder charge.

One thing I've found is that Jacqui's Full Auto variation can shoot faster than Black (I was the black player....), which is highly annoying.



Kotel is disappointing, as others have said. He's a good concept (A character that buffs his own damage very easily), but he's just too slow and his moves are too easy to see coming.
 
War God Kotal is pretty good. F1 into unblockable catches a lot of people off guard.

You've got to take advantage of his advancing normals like f1, f2 and b3,2
 
Kotal's sun burst is broken. I can use the Blood Code move, but I can't use the sun burst when it is essentially the same button command except the last button.

I feel that Erron's Gunslinger Variation can destroy his marksman variation if you use the slide and then spam the Stand-Off moves. Its what I call my troll variation.

Also, to those who have a problem defeating Shinnok players, just use Ermac Mystic, Subzero Grandmaster, or Mileena Ethreal to escape the Shang Tsung Style Move.
 
You can only use Sun Burst after you land his command grab. Depending on how many command grabs you've landed, Sun Burst will recover more.
 
Suprised with how much I enjoy playing Erron Black, Ferra/Torr (Lackey), and Shinnok.

Disappointed with Kotal Kahn the most. I'm seriously ok with him being slow movement wise since it suits him, but cmon it takes way too long to do a special. Also wanted Mileena to be better. I think taking out here bite move really annoyed me. Don't care for her variations.
 
Goro is not surprising. He was as amazing as I thought he'd be.
Kotal is the biggest disappointment, holy crap, I never thought I'd dislike a characters moves so much. His X-Ray is badass though.
