[SPOILER] Everything about story mode. Pics, videos, discussion, etc.

I can't get over how silly Corrupted Shinnok looks. Instead of a menacing monster, we get a Dark Kahn-inspired goober that looks like something out of a Saturday morning cartoon. Even the generic Netherrealm Oni are more fearsome. Tsk tsk, NRS.
Tekken's been turning their bosses into Devils for 20 years. Care to show me how many people cried foul over Devil Kazuya?

Ok so i finally gave in and saw the Corrupt Shinnok. I like the look and everything but once again i am disappointed with the finish. Its always generic across the board no matter what character you finish him with. i just wish with the next gen n new tech, they could give slight changes when he is beaten so we're not watching the same thing over and over.

Would have been cooler if after you beat Shinnok first round, a quick cutscene plays where his bones start spurting out of his body. Twisting and mutilating until they envelop and turn him into a skeletal nightmare.
Not a bad idea. Bringing back the monster form is an excellent idea if you're going to make Shinnok the boss, but they didn't succeed with their design, IMO. I would have liked something that's more scary to look at. Not as ugly as something out of Bloodborne, mind you, but I'll take that over something my friends are gonna laugh at.

Well, I just watched Mileena's death scene. :barf:

Seriously, that was disgusting! I have no self-control. I'm so angry that I spoiled it for myself. :(

It really bugged you, didn't it?

I'm so happy that story leak was fake and Torr doesn't actually die. I'm sure he wont make it into the next game, but it's good to know that NRS didn't immediately abandon him.

I'm upset that Mileena actually didn't even seem to have a chance against D'Vorah or Kotal. I would have liked to see her slap and kick D'Vorah around a little before being captured and executed.

Also, Jacqui's chapter was one of the most exciting I've seen so far. Seeing the bad guys (the joobers) take the spot for a moment was pretty nice.

Their ending was rather strange, but interesting. Not sure why Torr just died waiting for Ferra to look like this:

NRS had a great chance to create some dynamic characters with D'Vorah and Kotal. But at the end of the day just turned them into generic, power hungry villains. It would have been great to have Outworld be seen as an ally of Earthrealm for once.

It said he "withered and died" so he probably just died of old age.
As much as I don't want that ending to be canon, I'd love to see a "Lil Torr" do the intros in the next game

While Kotal's final decision was pretty disappointing, I did like how threatening he and his compatriots were in that chapter, to the point that Cassie and friends had to be rescued by Sub-Zero.

Why is everyone complaining about the story? It's really good IMO. Its like a movie within a game. Yeah it's corny, but isn't that what MK is known to be? Only part I don't like is how demon Shinnok looks, although that's a minor gripe.

All of the new characters are very well developed and show promise. What do you expect from a fighting game story? This is the best fighting game story ever made and people keep on complaining. Nitpickers.

With all the sub plots that couldve been adressed it felt like they missed some oppurtunities. Some of the chapter's dont feel like they move that particular character foward even when its theyre chapter i.e subzero. That liu kang raiden angle was hyped, bit just glossed over in the end. Maybe my own expectations were too high

Well if you use logic Cassie beating Shinnok is nonsense. She couldn't even beat Tanya or Subzero one on one. What's to tell us if Jax was being killed Jacqui wouldn't be able to beat Shinnok? What makes Cassie so special? Why can she beat Shinnok and not Kung jin Takeda or Jacqui. It would have made more sense if they beat him as a team working together as one. The power levels in this story makes no sense Jacqui can kick Sub zero's butt the other kids get owned. i will say it again. there is no reason in letting her beat him up and be fazed on his knees. he wanted to school her just like the others and be c***y with her but she got back up and just beat him up thats how the things went. tont make up non existing context because it doesn't even sound logical. he didn't plan to stay on his knees for kung jin. he just was fazed and then kung jin spots him and attacks him. lucky for sub zero he came into his senses fast enough to react and continue to fight. this is what happened and what we see. please don't make up context that never was there in the first place. he wanted to train them yes. but training does not mean getting your ass kicked. by the way i am very confused with all this. in chapter 1 Johnny cage beats both scorpion and sub zero. in chapter 5 sonya beats the both of them. they are losers. and yes they were under control of Quan chi but it doesn't mean they fought worse suddenly or became weaker. it just means they used their skills for Quan chi. later on in scorpions chapter he becomes human again and he beats both sonya and johny cage along with Sub zero. what the f*** is up with that? so when you are an undead ninja you cant fight for s*** but when you return to be a human you become more powerful? Jax beat Kung lao, liu kang and then Quan chi is beyond. but can't beat shinnok. later on in raidens chapter they rape him and beat the living crap out of him. i don't know what to say to this messed up storyline.

Cassie's ancestors were warriors, she inherited their power from her father (Who also beat Shinnok one on one, in this timeline and the original). It isn't that farfetched that she could beat him.

Still seems like a cop out. Johnny only distracted shinnok long enough for raiden to get the amulet. Just because he comes from a line if warriors doesnt mean much. Liu kang was an orphan at one point of his life. He just trained with bo rai cho and raiden to becone the badass that whoops both shinnok(x1) and shao kahn (x2). he got that based on his kombat skill. If they wouldve explained that part of johnnys lore better. I wouldnt be so salty. It seems that they just only mentioned that now

At least Johnny's powers have an explanation. Do we know yet why Liu Kang can shoot fire or turn into a dragon?

I dont mean his already established abilities. I mean how he can suddenly absorb projectiles. And go super cage when he couldnt do that before. Its not like his ladder ending in mk9 where he has some surge of power. Up until now he was the same johnny we saw at the end of mk9. Now allof a sudden he can go super saiyan? Nah bruh. Not buying it. nrs was just being lazy with writing. A bacjstory on how he got stronger or something wouldve been nice

I think we've all been spoiled on good writing by the comic and were expecting the game to match the same level of depth as the comic.

Woops.

I agree that my expectations were certainly not met because of this, but it was still a fun ride nonetheless. I'll definitely be playing the story multiple times for the sake of let's plays, get togethers, and whathaveyou.
