[SPOILER] Everything about story mode. Pics, videos, discussion, etc.

I want to play story mode to experience everything properly in HD, and to unlock the goodies... but primarily to see where those Shao Kahn references fit in, and who that guy in the lava pool type thing in Quan Chi's stage is.

Part of me is convinced that Rain and Tanya were supposed to be on the roster from the start, but they just ran out of time and/or money.
 
I'm waiting for the whole story YouTube video, then I will share my thoughts about the story and wasted slots. I hope it will be uploaded in a few days. I've decided to buy komplete edition so I'm not buying the game so far.

So im walking in the krypt for 2 minutes im getting kind of nervous because I know there's going to be some jump scares etc, after 30 seconds im like "its probably not going to happen" I take a left around the icey area, and MMMMMMMOOOOOOOOTHHHHHHEEEEERRRRRRR******* Like right in the mofo screen some sort of monster and a really loud noise.
I nearly had a stroke.
Im just going to say, when in the krypt please turn down your sound a little lmao

That's why I'm going as fast as I can in the Krypt.. A damn place I can't enjoy when I know there will be some scary shit in it.

Speaking of... I read on TYM that some stuff is unlocked on a timer. Is that true, and if so, what item types does it apply to? I really don't want to have to unlock the same costume multiple times, for example. Obviously I am fine with easy fatalities having limited uses.

What kind of other stuff have you found in the Krypt? Any chance you could make a list of types of unlockable, please?

Why are you asking me?! I don't have the game. I was talking about the MK9 Krypt.

I saw on a stream some guy going up to a chest and it said it only appeared because he found it at a specific time and it gave him an easy fatality token. Im guessing its like finding those chests in MKD conquest mode.
Or maybe Im hallucinating.

In Sonya's chapter during the Netherrealm war in a flashback Johnny Cage, Sonya and some soldiers are in the Brotherhood of Shadows lair searching for Quan Chi. He arrives. As they fight Revenant Jax stabs Johnny in the back and when Cage is dying he starts to grow in that lava and become a revenant. Raiden saves him.

I understand D'Vorah but it's like the third time I hear that about Kotal. I've only seen up until the end of D'Vorah's chapter and part of Scorpion's. What does Kotal do that's so generic?
 
The thing about Kotal is that he wanted to protect Outworld. He didn't trust the Blunder God to take care of the amulet again, as he had lost it. And the last bit where he wanted to appease Shinnok was out of fear and desperation. Kotal is afraid of Shinnok because he doesn't think he's powerful enough to take him on. He wanted to get a chance to fortify Outworld before the inevitable happened.

But they did explain it. It's a one-time deal where seeing a loved one in danger kicks his powers into overdrive. That's all the backstory there is, he hasn't gone "Super Cage" (which is what allows him to absorb projectiles, it's not a separate ability) before probably because he and Sonya weren't as close in the old timeline.

If Liu Kang can beat Shinnok, I really don't see why Johnny and Cassie with their crazy powers can't, either. Especially when power levels have never been a thing in MK. Raiden being the one to beat Shinnok would have been boring and a repeat of the last game's final battle, I'm glad they had the next generation stepping up to take the torch.
