Sandbagging, how do you feel about it?

Would picking a lesser used character be sandbagging? if so, I do that but nothing else and nobody ever attempted to sandbag me to my knowledge.

#2 is a given, but I find myself doing #3 the most. To start out I will definitely play my hardest but come the 3rd-4th game, and they just can't get anything going I start feeling bad when I have like 80-90% health left when they're almost dead. I'm a nicer guy than I thought I guess!!

Yeah I used to sandbag sometimes in SSF4. Especially when I'm having a set with a friend/forum member.

Like when I see that I'm way too good for my opponent and he has no chance of winning, I try to play it a little less serious. And if I'm winning a set like 3-0 I always feel a little bad inside, so sometimes I'll switch characters and use one that I suck with or don't know anything about.

If it's a random guy online then I don't really care tbh. I'll just destroy him as fast and as mercyless as I can. Though I gotta admit I sometimes sandbag a little because I'm afraid my opponent will rage quit if I beat him up too bad.

Depends on a players level really. I only sandbag vs casual and terrible players. If my opponent is remotely decent and I see he's serious about the game and has some advanced knowledge and skills, then I try to play my best because I know that's what he wants: to challenge his skills and get better.

I for one... don't give 2 shits about someone behaving like that. It RUINS it for me. Do I enjoy watching them get their ass beat? Sure... but I'd much rather watch 2 people "I think are cool" fight eachother and give eachother a No Homo man hug after grand finals, It intrigues me to see respect like that.

I like this. Good man. Wish more people would stop defending ******* behavior.

I ended up playing a number of matches with somebody the other day. We both used Sub-Zero, but he was better. The next game he picked Smoke and I picked Sub-Zero again. He won again. We chatted a bit and I mentioned I was practicing my Sub-Zero so don't expect much diversity from me lol. He picked Cyrax and won again. After that he picked Nightwolf and I beat him. His Nightwolf just didn't feel as smooth as his other fighters, I'm pretty sure he pulled a #3 on me thinking I might get discouraged lol. But it was really cool because we kept playing and at one point I asked for a Sub-Zero rematch (I thought I had figured out some of his thought process) and he obliged. I lost the first time, but the next match I beat him. It was a cool little exchange with a better player than myself. I didn't feel the need to quit after losing multiple times, but it was nice to get a W after all that lol.

I do #3 with my brother, mostly because he doesn't play the game as much as I do (only time he has is the three times he's been over to my house).

Heck, it wasn't until last time that he figured out how to Combo stuff like Back 1, 2 Freeze for Sub Zero. He's going to pick up the game soon enough, and so the training wheels will eventually come off, but not yet.

And for achievements? Such as getting 6 throws in one game?

i finished a match last night where i threw the guy 4 times to win lmao..it was someone on this site, i forget who it was. The player i believe was a better player then me and we usually spar and go even or he beats me. i NEVER throw when i play so the opponent doesn't expect it, ive been starting to throw alot more and think any amount of timew to use it in a match is good if the opponent is blocking constantly.

The more I play, the less I care what people think.

I sandbag a lot more now.
Sometimes I just spam jabs, or mix up my missiles or sometimes just jump around them so they can't hit me
Long past the point of caring on this.

A bit of carl here?

But in all seriousness, I do not sandbag at all.
Actually, I'll keep playing you until I win or I see someone else beat you.
But I've been sandbagged before, It doesn't feel good.

i'm guilty of this!!!i've seen people mention "sandbagging" a few times on here but i never know what it mean until i read this thread..thanx man...

when there's someone who's not very good with the game challenge me, i usually pick johnny cage and nut shots them to fatality :(

i just chase them around and nut shots all over the screen....

Sandbagging

3.) Intentional to not discourage lower level players, Some people are too nice and don't want to suck the fun out of their opponent by beating them so hard they literally can't do anything but watch a combo video and they are the victim. So the player purposely falls into traps to encourage them a little bit but NEVER lose the game. I'm guilty of this one too, I've tried to get people into fighting games on a competitive level but they get turned away really really quickly if I Rape them too hard. So I ease them in and tell them good job when they do something to encourage them.
That's what I do,haha when ever I'm playing my friends from TRMK,not all the time tho.

#4 all day lol..idgaf wat ppl think. everytime I get a challenge..I almost always pick my main (kitana) for the 1st right. I annihilate them in round 1, purposely lose in round 2, theb annihilate them again in round 3. and more often than not, ill end it with a babality lol. I mostly do it to spammers tho

I love playing noob players that just use shadow tackle the entire match... I let them do it 3 or 4 times to make them think they have a chance of winning.... then I wreck house and destroy them

I do #3 a lot with my beginner friends and I do #4 but we both find it funny. I don't piss them off. Like I'll keep trancing them with Quan and I teabag them as they walk lol and we all laugh. But I'd never do #3 or 4 online with a random.

ONE and THREE

all the time... dont mind teaching at first, giving games away.
but its annoying when they refuse to learn...
