Online is STILL an issue - Despite the "fixes"

Well I don't know if its got anything to do with the 4th Compatability pack, but my online experience this evening was superb.

Very little lag, quick connections to most games, very few desyncs/game session has ended. I still can't get into KOH, but meh...who cares about KOH??

They need to make this mandatory, I stopped playing online because I couldn't use any of my classic costumes or fatalities after paying for the packs. It's sad when you have more desynchs than actual matches.

Umm.... they patched the Klassic Costume Pack a while ago, and the comp. packs are free...
And really? You stopped playing online because you couldn't dress up your fighter??? Just select default costumes...

And as a side note, it seems that Xbox players are having a lot more issues with desynchs and comp. packs...

Because I have had NO problems with desynchs after the patch and only a few probs with comp. packs...... as well as a lot of ps3 users..

I get alot more desynchs and 'no game session' messages than actual matches when playing randoms. I also have a weird issue sometimes with selecting characters...like sometimes when a random will choose Smoke, Sonya, or Stryker a desynch follows that. When I find a good fighter I add the person and play with them later instead of gambling on Anonymous cooperation.

ALL online games have issues though. NRS isn't OMGTERRIBAD. Look at friggin' UMVC3. Oh boy! UMVC3 is going to feature all the things MVC3 SHOULD'VE had from the start--rebalancing updates, 12 new characters, SPECTATOR MODE?!, and 8 new stages. And guess what? UMVC3 is on a disk, not DLC, and is being sold for $40. MK9 has given us the choice to individually buy the DLC characters we want, rebalances are free, our spectator mode was already in the game, and we get nice free alternate costumes in compat. packs too. I'm not bashing on Capcom and pledging my loyalty to NRS, but UMVC3 is a pretty bad deal. At least Super Street Fighter 4 AE was available for DLC.

What we have in MK9 is great, not perfect, but great. This is pretty much congruent with my last post, but I wanted to offer a view at MK9's competitiom, I guess. I'm sorry if this was a waste of time to read, but then you can say it was a waste of time for me type up--so we'd be even, sorta-kinda^^

Well, I know that many people here have experienced this before, but every time I press start at the main menu my game freezes shortly after. I already tried to delete the "Downloaded settings" in my hard drive, but for the game not to freeze I need to delete this settings EVERYTIME I enter my game menu. Isnt there a better, definitive solution for this?

Super Street Fighter 4 is a standalone to be fair, any one who would pay full price for it on a disk is a fool when ive sen 2nd hand copys of SSF4 go for £8 and the dlcs around £12

so.....

did they ever fix the online lag issue? last time i was on here (long time ago) NRS were promising some sort of patch

i had the game for around 2 months from its release date, the online was impossible and everyone was upset about it and waiting for this patch

so what happened with that?,

i was looking around for a thread about it but couldnt find it, but from what ive seen in some of the complaints threads is that the lag must still be bad because a lot of people were saying they just play the game on single player!, (which pretty much sucks imo), so whats the crack did things not work out and we just have to live with a broken game? or did the patch work?, or are they still trying to fix it?

put in your own experiences in this thread

Re: so.....

It's not as bad as it used to be and it's definitely playable, but it's not as good as it should be either.

Amazingly its not lag that's a problem, its effing desyncs. Alt costumes, dlc costumes, using custom controls are what cause desyncs and its not good enough that stupid little things like this should be such a massive problem.

Yeah I barely have lag, I can just never play the damn match because of certain character selections or stupid costumes or damn fatalities even.

Did you know if you have custom controls and do certain combos with certain characters, the game crashes?

NRS are trying to go for some kinda record..

Is there a way I can test that? Give me specific controls and a specific combo please. I don't believe half of what I hear unless there is proof.

Lag is still a problem. Combos I do offline I can't do online. Try jump in punch with Kitana into Back 2+ air fan, dash, regular fan, then jump kick X-ray. Offline that's an easy 51% to execute but online you can't get the X-ray to connect. Try any combo with a neutral jump punch in the middle of it, practically impossible (except for Scorpion).

And it's still grating waiting for a single matchup. Takes long as hell, and 3 out of every 4 matchups disconnect. Then I go play Street Fighter and have fun for an hour with ease.

I swear Netherrealms made Mortal Kombat Arcade Edition's online in slow motion just to make MK9's look good in comparison.

I use a Madcatz pad. Top left is uppercut, bottom right is sweep. Middle top is block and middle bOttom is grab. Just like arcade set up. I've made a thread about this explaining it. Its a KNOWN problem, discussed on SRK, TYM, official Mortal Kombat site and various 360 forums. Pressing two attack buttons and plinking causes the game to crash in combos. Apparantly its to do with button mapping. Fightpads and fightsticks are most at risk and you need to rewire your buttons because this does not happen with default controls.

Ok thanks for replying back and giving me sources.

I take it you found my thread.

If not, it's here:
http://www.trmk.org/forums/showthread.php/24925-Desync-fast-input-commands

I put numerous sources down.

AT first I thought it was my imagination, but more and more my games were crashing if I was inputting combos at high speeds or pressing two attacks (some combos require this). A couple of nights ago I decided to search the web to see if anyone else has had this issues, and yes, they have. Those sources are just some examples. This is a known problem now, and it all makes sense.

Since the patch dropped a while back i've had very few problems with lag, even in King of The Hill...sucks that yall are still having trouble with it.
