Is Kung Lao really as bad as they say he is?

I don't think that Kung Lao is balanced or well round at all! LOL

6-6-6-6 Critical? Sorry, I don't agree. I even think Kung Lao in some ways may even excel characters that were intentionally designed to master a specifc gameplay style. Kung Lao's zoning is damn good, the recovery of his hats allows a lot of mobility in him, he can zone you low, mid and even in the air with his hat controling options, but Kung Lao can rush down like a crazy lion! The fact that he has an insane of amount of mix-ups simply confuse me. Sub-Zero and Nightwolf have barely mix-up options, no low starter, but it's understandable - those ARE balanced and well-rounded characters. Kung Lao has low starters, mix-up options that ends up in lows and overheads contantly (you literally have to guess what the heck he's going to do), a teleport with several options - one unblockable and one does a pop-up. Kung Lao has a FANTASTIC air control and SUPER FANTASTIC anti-air tools. Imagine if the dive kick wasn't so punishable? He's great for long, mid and close fights, his enhanced specials are ALL great (c'mon, a spin attacking from distance, armor in a already good teleport and a fricking hat that can hit you from anywhere?). Not to mention his amazing wake-up options and even if you block his spin, it's still quite hard to punish (before, it was impossible to do it). Well-rounded? Where exactly??? Oh, don't forget his speed! LOOOL Yes, because he already wasn't good enough you know...

He EXCELS in many fields and he's good for the rest. That's NOT a well-rounded character.

I still can't figure out why people even bother mentioning Kung Lao's teleport? It's insanely easy to punish; I just duck then uppercut as soon as I see him and it always seem to work for me. Maybe I'm just lucky?

Dung Lao doesnt bother me. Yeah he can piss you off from time to time but thats really it. Hes really fast though, only complaint. Besides that I dont see the big deal.

You haven't played many good Kung Lao players have you? I'd love to see you though to uppercut his enhanced teleport since it is not apparently a move worth mentioning for you...

The dude is equivalent to a Swiss Army Knife

Pretty much this.

Kung Lao has the tools for pretty much everything.
It makes me sad.

Before MK9 Kung Lao was the underdog, always playing second fiddle to Liu Kang.
And everyone loved him.

Now he's the face of MK evil

R.I.P Old Kung Lao.

o great. another kung lao post. lao is strong, no denying that. he can zone, turtle, rushdown, and spam better than most characters in the game. but people OVERLY exaggerate his strength. "spin has no recovery time. teleport has too many options. his dive kick is op. hat throw is two fast". I've heard it all and its mad annoying. I main kitana and she is lower on the tiers than lao and I can beat most lao with ease. his hat spin is PUNISHABLE, so punishable that you can land a full combo, especially if he whiffs it. his teleport is punishable also...just uppercut. I can punish his teleport with kitanas uppercut and she has a slow uppercut. his hats throws, either duck em or jump over em. not too hard. his dive kick is HIGHLY punishable and can be seen coming. did I mention that these punish tactics I just said can be done ONLINE? yes online...that's how punishable his moves are but people fail to realize that. learn how to bait and punish because that's one of the best ways to defeat lao.

Your exaggerating his recovery time. And look at all the things you just talked about. He has so many different ways to win a fight.

I'm really not. I block his hat and I can dash in and start a full combo starting with 2 1 Online all the time. and I never said he wasn't strong. he definitely is. I'm just saying people hype his hat specials and dive kicks to much because they are punishable

I think he has some serious Balancing issues,

for starters its easier for him to get knocked out of his EX spin, than his regular spin.

hell why dont NRS just take every special attack and combo out of the game and make it a bit like bushido blade, that would be really fun

allllll of this is gospel.

Vocroy,

Read what I said dude.

I did not say he was well rounded. I said that was the aim of NRS but they slightly failed and he's 1 notch too high in all categories. He's not 100% broken on anything. The closest thing is probaly his 2,4, 1+2 mix up with low hat. His normal overhead is average and leads to just a slight knock back that leads to nothing. Blocking low is the safest option cuz it beats everything except his very average overhead(that can anti air sometimes lol) it's also punishable when block high. Without that 2,4 mix up he's 10x less scary.

Spin is so dangerous kung Lao cant just throw it out. He has to wait for a opportunity like how scorpion waits for his teleport punch to be safe. Jades slow B1 can punish it in time with a dash added in.

Kung Lao is not so OP that you can take away tue players hard work and act like its the character not the player. I promise you. Even If you went back in time vocroy and you started Kung Lao. PL would still beat you. Because he's just a smart player. He read reo like a book. Almost everytime he did that average overhead reo ate almost every single one. And he did it to condition reo to block high. Same way mileena conditions you with her lows and mediums.

I said 6-6-6-6-6. Kung Lao cannot keep up with the main zoners of the game with his zone game. You didn't see pL challenging mileenas projectile with his own.

On the teleport thats your fault of you uppercut a EX teleport. You can see Kung Laos meter it's not hidden meaning you know it's EX or normal on reaction.
