The thing I liked most about that interview was how Ed said they would be trying to make a super comeback for MK10 and it won't be just MK9 with more characters.

Oh, this is glorious! I'd love it so much if they could add all the Teen Titans to the roster! The suspense is killing me!

Speaking of Mk10, I would LOVE to see something like Shaolin Monks with online co-op and upgrades! Eeeeeep!

GI information- I posted before and got almost no response to it hopefully it get's more play here

How obscure are you looking to get with the character lineup?

ED said
"I think the majority will be pretty mainstream, but we definitely have appearances that some of the more hardcore guy will be happy with. Obviously with a game like this we're launching a franchise, fingers crossed, we want to appeal to as many people as possible with recognizable characters."

the "B" button aspects for certain characters

ED said:
"We wanted to have a feature for each character that was unique to that character. We didn't want everyone to have the Batman version of this thing, the wonder woman version of this special move. we wanted a button that was completely accessible, right on the face of the controller that would be that was custom to all characters. Each character almost feels like they are from a different game in regards to the function of that button. For some one like Grundy, it will be like his throw button and he has all of these chainalbe throws that can beef up his defensive or offensive features. There is a whole meta game inside of that button for Grundy. With wonder woman, it changes her fighting style. it literally changes from a floating fighting style to a sword and shield style with it's own set of attacks. with Batman, he has a number of ways of controlling the bats that kinda fly around him that can be used in combos or for a shield around him. with superman it will power him up."

Ex moves and supers and breakers

ED said:
"Yes. Absolutely. Pretty much both. We diffidently Don't want it to use the exact rules as Mk, but kind of super moves are the equivalent of the X-Ray's that were in the previous MK."

other interesting stuff

The demo din't feature the standard "round 1, Round 2" format We're used to seeing. tell us about the health system

Ed said:

I'm not sure if you're familiar with a game called "KILLER INSTINCT," Which came out many years ago. It's kind of similar to that where, story-wise, this game isn't a tournament, So it's not as much like rounds. Basically, you can almost think of it as 2 health bars and whoever depletes the other's two health bars down wins the entire match. We have a pause time between when you lose one, just to kind of breakup the monotony and let yourself regroup and re-orientate yourself and what-not. The version we had at E3 doesn't represent the entire experience in terms of what event is going to happen when you deplete the person's first bar and what's going to be happening in between all of that, but the idea is that we're not not resetting everything when someone loses a bar. We're just kind of giving them a moment's pause, " a little breather."

The look of the DCC Characters on that series, or are you going your own direction with it?

ED said:
We are going off our own direction. The Arkham Batman is awesome, I'm certainly a fan of it, but we definitely did not want to say that this is The Arkham Batman that you've already seen.

From the official PlayStation magazine.

Direct quote
"One of our goals is to introduce new features that haven't been done in the fighting genre before and move it forward, while also maintaining these iconic characters from the Dc universe... we're going for a very realistic look, as well as a diverse cast of Characters." -Ed Boon

A caption on one of the pictures
Each hero has an enhanced version of their special moves

the stuff in blue is important and what's in red is what I liked personally.

New interview

Here's an excerpt from it

One concession NetherRealm might make for the EVO crowd is related to its interactive stages, unique in their ability to inflict damage on players.

"I think anytime you do something as, I guess, bold or out of the box as that, you're going to have people that question it," Boon said.

"Especially, how does that come into play in a tournament situation? If you play in the Batcave, you have a different strategy than if you play in the Fortress of Solitude. My guess is we will certainly offer at least one stage that is traditional, because you never know what's going to be banned in tournaments. We're definitely aware of the EVO guys and we're going to put things in the game to accommodate them with a more stripped down version."

Lolwut? They never said a stripped down version meant losing the interacting environments.

It could be a stage with nothing going on in the background or it's just silent.

I know they're not saying that.

I'm saying the interactive environments should be used at EVO and tournaments.

No, they're doing a traditional stage. Meaning no interaction.

I am for it, and Ed knows what he is doing. He is playing it safe. He doesn't know what will and what wont be banned. It would be a serious blow to have the entire game banned because every stage has something ban worthy. Or maybe it will become a general consensus that the interaction sucks.

Its a good call on his part.

I agree with the traditional stage idea. Mainly because people will be able to argue whether or not certain characters have more advantages on different stages. I know many of us (including myself) would say it doesnt really matter that much, but tourney players care about every little thing and detail, and in order for injustice to really gain respect and become a truly successful fighting game, it will have to appeal to both casual and hardcore/tourney players
