Batman Movies

Batman Returns is my favorite Batman film, followed probably by Batman Begins and then the first Burton Batman ('89) film. I hated both Batman Forever and Batman and Robin. Both were atrocious films, a waste of time, money, and are a blight on the franchise. I may not like everything about the Nolan films, but the worst moments in any of the three are miles ahead in any of the final two 90s Batman flicks.

ill agree with you about batman and robin. that movie was a slap in the face to and batman fan. but i actually thought batman forever was ok (at the time), now its kinda meh whatever to me. dont love it dont hate it. you tellin me you liked batman (1989) better than TDK and TDKR????? now we're at a dissagreement. but i guess thats my opinion.

I kinda like Batman Forever. A guilty pleasure of mine, its stupid but its ok.

And freyith, what things do you dislike about the nolan movies? Sorry to ask questions but no one ever seems to mention any thing they dont like other than bale's voice. And if they do they just get alot of shit from fanboys. I think they are great movies, but there were some things I didnt like as well. I think they over explain and over analyze every detail at times and leave nothing to the imagination. Where the burton films did the opposite and were more creative. but oh well, I like both series and they are both very different.

Anyway, I recently rewatched the dark knight after not seeing it for a long time and I actually appreciate it more after seeing TDKR. They are just really different from eachother. TDK being more of a traditional batman movie, with him in his city just stopping senseless crimes from the joker. Classic Hero Vs Villain. Where TDKR is a much larger movie, possibly even too big and bloated. But its the last film and had to have a plot that could carry the weight of a good conclusion.

I don't know what is "the right height"
so if you know the exact measurements, please share.

maybe the actor is not as tall as bale/west, but during the movie keaton doesnt look out of place and abnormally small, so I see no problem.

Honestly, you may be right. I don't remember what the measurement was... I just remember reading something in a magazine when Batman Begins came out that touted Christian Bale as the first Batman actor to be tall enough since Adam West. I never actually noticed Keaton being short as Batman until after that.

Coming from someone who loved the Nolan trilogy, it did have flaws that hold it back from being perfect. The main thing that works for it is it's realism but it can also be its drawback at times. It explains how batman can do what he does through his gadgets and weaponry and is so grounded that when they have moments where something unrealistic happens, it makes you question the movie. Sometimes you just have to remember to say to yourself that it is a comic book movie. Then there are the small plot holes but the movies do so much good over bad and actually give me chills at times (joker home video snuff film) that it is my favorite trilogy ever.

Yeah I see what you mean, this was the first time they went in this direction and its cool to see, but in the end its still a guy dressing up as a bat based off comic books and theres a point where some things just dont need to be explained. Not hating on the movies though.

Harvey Dent's character and story probably would have ended up better if they had introduced him in Batman Begins first. They could have gotten his backstory out of the way there and then they could have made him better in TDK and not rush his character and Two Face would have been a better villain. But the burned face will always look kickass though.

After just rewatching the Dark Knight, that scene with video of The Joker and the fake batman in the meat freezer is the thing that stands out the most. Its such a good and important scene that defines this version of The Joker. Cause we all know who the Joker is, an evil guy that doesnt take anything serious and jokes around. I think most people had the same stereotype of what the joker is. Even in his scenes prior to this point. But then when you see him on that creepy shaky home video, and then he yells out "Look at me". At that moment you realize that underneath the makeup and jokes that there is something more fvcked up about this guy that we dont get to see. And it makes it that much creepier when you see him again, except clowning around.

I know its been said before, but seriously. Heath Ledger did an amazing job bringing this character to life. RIP.

Nothing else in TDK, not the interrogation scene or even the "magic trick", for me beats Joker burning up the pile of cash and the hospital scene

I wondered what happend to The Scarecrow after that parking lot scene in The Dark Knight, like did he get arrested or did he walk free again?

Also Gary Oldman is the best Jim Gordan ever.

Spoiler:
Watch The Dark Knight Rises ;)

As for Gary Oldman, there is something hawt about him as Gordon. I dunno, he doesn't LOOK hawt, but something about him, maybe his power as Commissioner, makes me wipe away genital drips.

Just watched The Dark Knight..... again. And well, Its safe to say I like it better than Rises.
When TDKR just ended and I had it on my mind for the following days, and because of it being a grand scale climactic conclusion, I thought maybe I did like it better than TDK.

But after thinking about it, TDK is the better film and will be remembered for years to come, more so than Rises. Both good movies though.

The Dark Knight Rises was by far the worst of all the batmans. Infact, I thought it was just generally a bad movie. Full of plot holes, disjointed and confused, and the action scenes/fighting was laughable. A "rent" movie for sure.

Batman Begins is still my favorite, I dunno, maybe I'll like Rises better when I actually get around to seeing it

Havnt seen rises yet? I suggest you stay away from anything batman related till you see it. Cause when it was new, it almost seemed like people were getting payed to spoil it for others. Thats how bad it was. Now most people just assume that everyone's seen it cause its been out for a while, so even more spoilers. Thankfully I saw it at midnight and didnt have to worry.

Wierd thing about Dark Knight Rises though, its either getting overpraised as the greatest movie ever(which it's obviously not and has problems) or getting over criticized in a very vauge way without much explanation. Much like the post above me. I guess cause its popular and fun to hate. I suggest not reading the reviews and just go see it.

Anyways, am I the only one who kinda felt bad for the joker at the end? When he gets caught he sounds like he's about to cry. I've always kinda wanted him to just die at the end by falling off, but I guess batman realized that he wanted that too and wouldnt let that happen. So now joker's gotta be in "APADDEDCELLFOREVER". Seriously, when batman says that he sounds so stupid. Sounds like he's saying "you'll be in a vat of jello forever"

I'm sorry, I didn't realize I had to justify my opinion with a full blown critical review to prove I'm not "hating".

Yeah idk why so many sites have so many spoilers out in the open. Glad I saw it on midnight too for that reason. And I can't figure out why it seems most either completely praise it as the best or worse movie ever made. Although judging by the reviews on IMDB, the average rating from almost 247,00 people was an 8.9 and rottentomatoes had an average of 4.5/5 from almost 433,000 people which are great scores which really makes me question the taste in movies for those that claim it was a "bad" movie. Flawed, yes and definitely not the BEST movie ever, but I still enjoyed every minute of it.

Batman won't kill people, at least that is his rule despite Harvey Dent and some members of the league of shadows lol so he had to save the Joker there. The Joker sounded exhausted to me cause he realized he couldn't break batman or the citizens (they didn't blow each other up on the ferries). I did love how he compared themselves to an unstoppable force meeting an immovable object and they were destined to do this forever, which just depresses me Heath died so he couldn't continue the story further with that.

Probably the massive expectations for it pre-releases are the reason why the reactions to it are so divisive
