Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII

Barbie Simular 2014. Man, Final Fantasy has gone downhill. FFVIII is still my favorite game of all time though.

lol, when people want customized armor, they start calling it barbie simulator.

w/e floats your boat I guess.

While I liked VIII's story, the combat system had some pretty anti-fun flaws.

Spam draw, bosses are nerfed to match your level.

Because Square Enix has been stupid since the merger.

It's because games cost more to develop these days, so they plan to start doing sequels because it saves money. They can reuse models. Much like how Call of Duty runs their business.

They already plan to make sequels for FFXV

Don't hate. Lightning's wardrobe game is on point. It's not her fault your favorite female character is a dirty chick who wears the same 1-3 outfits everyday.

Tifa Lockhart is the Chuck Norris of female video game characters.

Well there goes any hope I had left for ffxv....

Why because it'll have sequels?

Well why are you still playing mortal kombat then? they're on their 9th sequel

FFXV is run by a different team, it use to be FFXIII Versus, they just went ahead and turned that into FFXV.

The only FF I didn't really care for was FFXII

I liked everything else, to an at least it was worth my money level.

Development for FFXV has been shaky though. When it was still called Versus XIII , it was pretty early in the PS3's life cycle, and now SE is planning to release FFXV for the PS4/XBone.

I'm still on the fence about Lightning Returns at the moment. A more open world is welcoming change over the level design over the original FFXIII (I'm not sure about XIII-2 since I haven't played it yet). The combat system seems really weird, and I wonder why they went for ATB rather than real-time.

FFVIII is the best one IMO, despite it's easy gameplay. I just loved the music, story and the characters.

Squall was the first gunblade wielder and had a better designed gunblade then Lightning's one.

I hear the story this time is lackluster, and the endings garbage. For LR that is.

And I read some complaints about textures in some parts being pretty bad.

Those are the only real complaints I see.

I'll make a video about the gameplay aspect when I get a hold of it. If you want an informed decision.

You can call it "armor" if you wish, but it's still dressing up a barbie in various outfits. I just don't like the direction that this game has gone. I love MK9, and I don't mind sequels, but Final Fantasy hasn't really been a sequel kind of game. From game to game, it's vastly different. There are exploits in every game, and not a single Final Fantasy game has ever been that hard to beat so it doesn't matter if the bosses are scaled. I thought the difficulty in VIII was just fine.

I played the demo for the new game, and it wasn't bad, but it just doesn't feel like a real Final Fantasy game. The only thing I liked was the graphics in the intro. but even the dialogue was vague like the original FF13.

As I've said, games use to be cheap to make, now its far more expensive. Do you really think they could gamble making a brand new game every time with all the resources?

FFXIV's original release was so bad, that if they flopped like that again right after, they would've been in HUGE trouble.

And I know what you mean, it's not turn based. I use to like turn base myself. Then I realized turn base isn't even that deep >.>;. There is a scripted answer to every action done against you. All you have to do is know the answer. Mobs don't mix you up. But at least the story was good. I liked FFVIII just cuz of the story alone. Same goes for 9,10,11,13. I've never played 7, and I never will.

I have the game I'm like 9 hours in(Lightning Returns).

I just got owned by the timer. Was almost to Snow and it reset to the next day. I do feel like I'm always rushing.

Messing up ONE FIGHT, loses you 1 hour in-game time. That was literally what caused me to run out of time otw to snow.

Normal mode is pretty hard. The timing to perfect block is pretty strict, and the mobs mix up their attacks deceivingly. The anubis for example has a REALLY slow overhead attack that you have to wait longer than you think to perfect block, and a normal attack that comes out fast, that you need to react to instantly.

Well what's the big deal? why do I need to perfect block?

Well unless their staggered. later in the game they barely take much damage, and each fight feels like a damn boss fight. I had to fight 2 Anubis, and their stagger trigger is perfect blocking, and two of them are attacking me at the same time. I have to move myself so I keep them in view or they rape me when I can't see them.

All mobs have different stagger triggers, once you figure it out. It'll be memorized in the data log for that mob. But if you don't know... well good luck sometimes it might be something you need to equip like say a mob is weak to Ruin. If you don't have ruin equipped you can't stagger the mob. So you have to customize for the area.

I like the battle system in this game, but so far the story does feel a bit half assed.
