Lightning Returns Final Fantasy XIII

Every pre-FFX Final Fantasy I've ever played was open-world. VII remains my favorite to this day. I'm focusing on IV right now; if only that item duplication trick from the SNES/PS1 games worked in the Android version...That's one reason I'm against a VII remake. If SE took away the item duplication cheat in IV's remake, then they're certainly capable of doing the same to a VII remake. I think ALL the cheats from the original should be carried over to the remake.

God forbid you be made to play the game the way it was meant to be played

like i said a sandbox with a road.

FF8 for example you always have a new point you're SUPPOSE to go to next. You can play some cards on the side or whatever. Or go to some old town. But doing so almost served no purpose. Illusion of open world.

You definition of open world is not my definition.

Open world = Do whatever you want, whenever you want, in whatever order you want.

and you can't do that most of the game.

The difference is literally

FFX = Road shape path, with a couple hubs otw.

Other FF's, yes there is a world, but most of it is locked, and you travel a specific linear main plot device that literally has you following the same path everytime you re-start the game.

Most of them aren't really that open until mid-late game.

Well I like how FF games are set up. I like to follow a certain path for the majorty of the game, with a section for exploration mid to late game when you get an airship or anything of the sort. The older FF games are still more open than XIII. A lot of the game was a hallway with a couple turns. That was a main problem across a lot of reviewers.

lol I never disagreed that FFXIII was super linear. It also opened up at the end. But the journey to get to that open end was much later than most previous games, and the end game content was just optional stuff that wasn't even necessary for end game win.

But Lightning Returns is NOT super linear, it's probably the MOST open world one thus far.

Just saying if you like how the old set ups are, then you're NOT looking for open world. That's all I'm saying lol.
