3-2: Kahn's Invasion Continues (Ultimate MK3)

3-2-1. Amidst the chaos of Shao Kahn's forces intensely battling the defenders of Earth realm, many old faces gradually joined in on the action for different reasons.

3-2-1a. Scorpion was enlisted by Shao Kahn to aid his forces in the elimination of the chosen warriors, but he holds no true allegiance to anyone besides himself.

3-2-1b. Reptile and Jade were sent on a mission by Shao Kahn to track down Princess Kitana, who has been accused of treason by the high courts of Outworld (2-1-2a). Having worked alongside Kitana (2-1-1g), Jade had to choose between betraying her long-time friend or her emperor, so Jade was instructed to simply capture her and bring her back alive. Reptile, however, was directly told to stop Kitana at all costs, even if it meant killing her. Additionally, Mileena was brought back to life by her creator, Shang Tsung. Shao Kahn intends to rely on her ability to read Kitana's mind to stay one step ahead of Kitana. Meanwhile, Princess Kitana was desparately trying to find a way to warn the resurrected Queen Sindel, her mother, of their true past (0-4-2).

3-3: Beginning of the End (MK Trilogy)

3-3-1. The defenders of Earth realm became increasingly stronger.

3-3-1a. The path of Johnny Cage's soul was blocked by the merger of the Earth and Outworld realms, so his soul was able to remain in the Earth realm. He returned to his body on Earth to once again fight alongside his comrades.

3-3-1b. Shao Kahn's invasion barred Raiden from intervening (0-6-4). As a result, Raiden had to once again take his human form in order to aid the defenders of Earth, and he decided it was worth the risks.

3-3-1c. Mysteriously, Classic Sub-Zero, who was killed by Scorpion in Mortal Kombat (1-1-2a), and was the older brother of the one fighting alongside the defenders of Earth (3-1-1c), returned briefly. It is believed that he may have been sent on a mission to assassinate Shang Tsung during these chaotic times, but his intentions in this war were never truly discovered.

3-3-1d. Kano, serving as Earth weapons trainer to Kahn's forces (3-1-2c), faces Sonya Blade at a location near Kahn's fortress. Sonya defeats Kano in this fight. Although Kano survived, he soon faced his then master, Shao Kahn, who proceeded to incarcerate him as punishment for failing to win the battle. However, Sheeva soon betrayed Shao Kahn for personal motives (3-1-2d), and attempted to assassinate her emporer. Kano took this opportunity to regain Kahn's favor by preventing the assassination. He was then promoted to General in Kahn's army.

3-3-2. Gradually, Shao Kahn saw his once-powerful army slowly crumble before him. He was strongly overpowered by Earth's forces and its new allies. In his final war effort against the defenders of Earth, he sent his new General, Kano, back to the Outworld to recruited warriors to add to his forces.

3-3-2a. Ermac, a life force that existed by the spirits of extinguished Outworld warriors. Shao Kahn managed to take possession of these souls, making Ermac a physical warrior in his forces. By simply participating, Ermac aimed to prove his existence to the world.

3-3-2b. Rain, the son of a general in Edenia's army prior to Kahn's takeover (0-4-2a), agreed to join Kahn's forces against the Earth warriors rather than face the extermination squads.

3-3-2c. Baraka, after fulfilling other tasks within the Outworld, had no reservations about serving in Kahn's forces once again.

3-3-2d. Noob Saibot, having been a passive observer during the course of the recent events, was ordered by his master Shinnok to join Kahn's extermination squads.

3-3-3. Shao Kahn and his forces were defeated by the defenders of Earth, although Kahn himself was not killed at this time. His reign ended as the emperor of both the Outworld and Earth, which caused both realms to return to their original forms. The Outworld was restored into the living planet called Edenia.

3-3-3a. Johnny Cage was free to move on to a higher existence in the heavens of reality.

3-3-3b. The Lin Kuei, as it existed up until this point, was disbanded. However, a new reformed Lin Kuei (0-5-1b) would later be created by Sub-Zero.

3-3-3c. Queen Sindel remembers her past and took her rightful place ruling Edenia.

3-3-3d. Jax and Sonya returned to the Earth realm and formed the Outerworld Investigation Agency (0-5-5a). Sonya then went on a mission to capture the man she believed to be the last surviving Black Dragon member, named Jarek.

3-3-3e. Upon Shao Kahn's defeat, Reptile became a fugitive in the realm of Edenia. He searched for anyone in power to whom he could become a servant.
