Why not Shinnock as DLC?

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

No way, no bosses should be playable and he's most likely going to be the boss in the next game.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

I don't know why there would be a second game other than for the story

Finally, someone who gets it. If they do release more DLC (or an Ultimate Mortal Kombat 9) he'd fit right in. But as far being the main 'baddy' in any other segment, I just don't see it happening. In MK4 he wasn't that fearsome, and in every other MK game he seemed like just another fighter. Nothing was that super special about him to a point were I would deny him future release for this game.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

Am I the only one who would be MORE down with this alternate scenario...

how about it stays on mk9... and we just DLC the story... characters to fit the story... ect.

I mean.. if the next game is gonna have the same fighting engine I don't see a reason to waste money on resources for us to have a "personal disc" to put in when we could just down load it lol.

and you would have the option to play with *MK10* characters but avoid the story if you don't care. Ect.

I'm pretty sure Matt Wilson above you has a really similar opinion to you. There's a thread about it in the DLC section. I think it'd be a really cool concept too, I'm just unsure of whether or not NRS would go for it.

also a plus side we wouldn't have to worry about anyone getting "cut" from the roster.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

What Matt said.

And because that would make like.. 3 albinos total in this game.

shinnok is not even that albino looking. and besides that quan chi and shinnok play completely different and look different too. i didn't mention kratos because nobody cares about him.

Lol I'm not sure how the fans would take to that. If no characters got "cut" then the fans would lose something to b---h about and would have to move on to some other complaint. =P

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

This "he should be saved for the next game" drivel is so annoying.

Putting him in this game to show what is to come is a great thing. Not to mention he's one of the more interesting looking, relative and has some of the coolest abilities of characters from the Post-MK3 era. Not only do I think that THIS game that just came out that we were all soo excited about should be the prime focus of the NRS team as of right now, and showing off Shinnok in this beautiful game's glory could show just how destructive he can be.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

For those who are interesting to see Shinnok's specials and X-Ray, check this thread:

http://www.trmk.org/forums/showthread.php/16268-Shinnok

I thought up some moves based on Armageddon and some on my own he can use in MK10. I prefer him in the future as a powerful unplayable boss instead of being a playable DLC. Outfit-wise, I believe his Armageddon alternate will fit perfectly, not the MK4 one.

Had some pretty cool ideas in that thread. I think Shinnok could make a pretty badass boss, especially if they really make him into an unplayable boss character. He really needs an increase in badassery as a fighter, he's a fallen Elder God lol.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

The Fallen Elder God should not be DLC... save him for the boss of MK10.

There are plenty of other characters to make DLC for MK9... Shinnok is not one of them. I really want his threat level to be on par with Shao Khan in the next game.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

As much as I absolutely ADORE Shinnok, I like the idea of the suspense of saving him for the next game.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

SO. What you all think about my moveset and X-Ray for Shinnok, especially since his threat level should be far higher than Shao Kahn since he's a fallen Elder God?

He may not be in his definite prime when he had his real amulet, but he still poses a threat to both Earthrealm and Outworld.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

Well...
Spoiler:
His character model was at the end of MK9 Story Mode, So there's a chance.
(I put it in spoiler tags for people who dont have the game/havent played story mode yet.)

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

I think all the people with good sense have voted....KEEP SHINNOK FOR THE NEXT GAME !

And to all you boobs who say Shinnok is not a badass, go back and play MKM:Sub-Zero ! Shinnok is THE badass of MK. He is hands down, the smartest and most cunning of all the bosses. Shao kahn, Onaga, both of those bad@sses were defeated due to their arrogance ! That would never happen to Lord Shinnok cuz he is a hell of alot smarter than those brutes/idiots !

Shinnok is probably the only one in the MK Universe that knows how to defeat the Elder Gods cuz he used to be one of them.

I'm not sure how those saying "Keep Shinnok in the next game" are the ones with good sense, considering there's really no logic at all behind putting Shinnok off for the next game.

- We've waited so long for this game, teasing with a sequel already will just make it feel like we're going to be milked.
- Shinnok being the boss for the next game has yet to be confirmed, merely hinted. It's obvious we have no idea which way the story is going in this alternate timeline.
- Even if Shinnok is the boss, there is no reason he can't be playable in this game. Hell, if anything, that'd make it an even greater treat. To get a taste of what is to come.
- Shinnok is probably one of the most relevant characters to the MK3-era that wasn't in MKT (Hell, he was mentioned in some endings in MKT), and probably one of the most interesting power-wise in the rest of the MK roster.

I sincerely hope that Boon & Co. ignores the people asking for Shinnok to be left out of this game. If you think it's so important to not play as the boss of the next game:neutral:, simply don't download him. That's the beautiful thing about optional DLC. Besides, he'd probably sell better than some scrubby character like Reiko anyways.

No, really the ones saying keep him out are the smart ones :p

- Teasing for a sequel will keep us locked into the idea of buying/waiting for the next game, and playing this game until it is possible
- Yes, but the hints are pretty large, Shinnok will most likely be the big bad boss of MK10
- If Shinnok is playable in this game it will not coincide with the story because at the end of story mode, he said he is ALMOST ESCAPED, meaning he hasn't been yet. "okay, then, say it's like oh he gets escaped by the end." NO, I think it would make for a better story and cinematic scene if him being released was the opening of MK10
- True, but untrue, in that time his power was stealing whosever power he copied.

I understand where your coming from, Shinnok is one of my FAVORITE characters, and I would LOVE to play as him!! BUT, for him to be DLC in this game would be stupid because it would give us reason to believe he's not the boss in the next game, or that bosses will be playable (both upsetting)

!!!UNLESS!!! They make him weaker in this game, one of his moves being the ability to copy an opponents move. This would give homage to his MK4 moveset and could be explained as him being too weak to fully fight, having to copy moves because he is fresh from the Netherrealm and without his amulent. His other moves should also be a little dulled down (kind of like his Armageddon moves), and he should fight in a costume reflecting his time in the Netherealm.

AND IN THE NEXT GAME!! he should be a completely UNPLAYABLE Boss with BadAss moves consisting of Skeletal hands and all that jazz. (I like a few of Vigilante_FireDragons.) (Maybe even then he should be able to steal a random opponents moves for that little taste of MK4 Shinnok) and he should wear his alt. from Armageddon, cuz i found that costume PERFECT, or close to it (maybe dull down the color)

Teasing for a sequel at this point is idiotic. This game recently came out, and with all the hype that was around it, it needs to be the prime focus for a long while. DLC characters don't have to affect storyline, especially since they won't add to the Story mode. Shinnok didn't have his own moves in MK4 due to limitations or something, I see no reason he couldn't have his own moves in this game. We want character variety, and Shinnok can provide that with his own moves.

People seem to be drawing lines, connecting dots that just do not exist. Shinnok being DLC in this game just indicates that he will be playable in this game. I see in no way how it could be a precursor to him not being the boss in the potential sequel.

I really wish people would have read my thread on this. Alright, let's say for shits and giggles that Shinnok is the new bad ass boss for the next MK story line. I'll take that.

But what I won't take is investing another 60$ into a duplicate game with the same roster, if not crappier one with cut out characters, just so I can experience Shinnok as a boss in a story line that could easily be used as an expansion DLC content.

For those of you who seem to be against any future content after what's already been offered/announced, I don't see how adding a short, nifty story explaining Shinnok's 'escape' and adding the DLC characters to that story would seriously hurt the game. Aside from any possible story-arc involving Shinnok which people seem to have a boner for, what would be the problem with offering an added story-line + extra characters toward the holiday season? Or do you like blowing away your money and an extra 60$ for the same content but a little added extra.

Besides, if people are looking forward to an MK10 sooner than later, I ask you, what is it in the next game you wish to see that you dont have or cant get through DLC in this game?
