Why not Shinnock as DLC?

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

even though i desperately want to play as him, it would be the right thing to postpone him for the next game. the problem there is that if he's going to be a main villain in the game, then NR might not make him playable if they have the same views on bosses as they did on mk9.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

On a side note:

Who else wants to see MK: Fire and Ice as the next NRS project?

Fire and Ice would be pretty badass. A new Shaolin Monks-style MK game would be really cool and my vote goes to either Fire and Ice or something based on the Lin Kuei, more specifically the Cyber Initiative. I'd really like to see what's really going on in the Lin Kuei, but Fire and Ice could be all kinds of awesome, though it'd prolly end up being less than fully-canon.

Hahahahaha that picture actually made me laugh out loud. Props.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

i love shinnok he his one of the few characters i like after MKT. he should be in the next game not in this one, add reiko he is awesome

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

Absolutely not. They need to keep him away from this game (excluding his little appearance near the end). He's probably gonna be the big bad in the next game. You don't want to ruin it by making him a DLC character. Save his wowness for a better time and place.

Well said! I'm hoping for Shinnok to be a more threatening and less *****-made (cheap) end-boss than Shao Krap in the next MK. I mean, of course, he'll more than likely have some degree of cheapness, but I actually want Shinnok to make Kahn look like a joke.

So I agree with many have said here, Shinnok as a SICK endboss. Not just a throwaway DLC character.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

As much as I love Shinnok (the look, the outfit, the powers, the voice, the character possibilities), I would prefer if he was not DLC for this game. Save him for the next game and make him badass. Yes, I would really really really like to play as him right now, but I feel that it would ruin any hype for him, considering that it's pretty much a give away that he'll be a major part for any future story of Mortal Kombat (retelling of 4-7, or post Armageddon).

But a cheap boss in Mortal Kombat is fun. That's what makes it MK.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

To be honest, I don't think a fighting game engine could show off how epic and foreboding Shinnok could become. As a fallen Elder God with immeasurable powers, he'd be much more suited for an adventure game *hint hint nudge nudge*. I agree with his MK4 look, that was terrible for him. The Mythologies look would be great for him. I also think his status as the "Ruler of the Netherrealm" should be explored a lot more; maybe seeing a legion of Oni and other demons worshipping him as he stands above a cliff or a volcano in the Netherrealm would make him more badass. The little attention that was given to his special moves in Armageddon was tantalizing enough for me to see a full revamp of his fighting style. He shouldn't be just a clown with Shang Tsung's shapeshifting abilities. It needs to feel like we are fighting as an Elder God, or fighting against one. He needs to be a cheap bastard like Kahn is in MK9.

Also, I want the fight against him to be a real struggle in the story. All that careful planning and millions of years of being tormented, and as soon as his treachery comes to light, he gets his ass kicked by Liu Kang. And after that, he just disappears into the air. That really pissed me off about the original timeline. If possible, I think the struggle should last for 2 games instead of one; MK10 should focus on the Forces of Light recruiting new warriors while at the same time recovering the fallen warriors from MK9 (Cyber Subby, Nightwolf, Kitana, Jade, Smoke, etc.). MK11 is the game where they ultimately plan to attack Shinnok and the Forces of Darkness.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

I agree that the Myth. look looks better Aldo, but isnt it too heavy and uncomfortable to fight? it is even to move. Maybe something similar but more loose.

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

I actually love everything about Shinnok. However I'm sure that he'll be saved for MK10, as that's what the end of Story Mode is hinting at. I'd prefer this actually, so long as they make him playable.

Precisely! As much as I hate Shao Kahn, I think NRS did a great job on making bosses old school and cheap like they should be. What I want is more of a threatening vibe from boss characters. If you catch my drift. :-)

I know exactly whatcha mean! He's a fallen Elder God, lol. He should have crazy amounts of power at his fingertips and not be shy at all about throwing it around. His corruption should be present in his design, maybe all the clown colors were how he looked as an Elder God, but he's fallen. His colors should be muted and muddied, burgundy and rust, not red. His blue should be deep midnight horizon. Yellow should be tarnished with gray and brown hues mixed in. Make him more than just maliciously corrupt, make him dark and violent and hateful. Make him truly evil, not that fru-fru "I'll beat you all up!" evil that seems to permeate the MK universe.

Totes. I REALLY hope they make him a bad-ass this time. I loved the idea of him in MK4, but he was such a little ***** in the end. I want Shinnok to completely blow us away.

Definitely digging Shinnok being "maliciously corrupt". He's a vengeful fallen Elder God; he should be portrayed in that matter. On the MK wiki, it said something about Shinnok "demanding unwavering faith and loyalty from his followers, and that he won't hesitate to kill anyone who challenge or even doubt him." I would love for Shinnok to be depicted in such a heartless way. He's the Satan of the MKverse, with millions of years of knowledge and power at his hands, not some evil clown reject.

In MK4 Shinnok shouted "I was going to be Shang Tsung but Midway wanted a new face so... Hi I'm Shinnok, I transform myself without transforming..."

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

I AGREE WITH THIS 100%. You sir, know how to make a Shinnok look like a freaking BOSS. +Rep

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

Shinnok would be a great addition, but I think I would prefer he not be added since he's a boss type...

Add Tanya instead lol

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

I'm more interested in the upcoming mkvsnintendo they just announced for the new nintendo system.

:P

JK...

...or am I...

Bahahaha, oh god... that would be horrible! They'd have characters like Mario and Princess in it, perhaps Toad and Yoshi too?.... lol....

If anything, they would HAVE to call it: NetherRealm Studios VS. Nintendo. Nintendo is the company, as is NRS. Mortal Kombat is the game developed UNDER NRS.... But ANYWAYS, lets hope that this is NOT happening!
