Why not Shinnock as DLC?

Re: Why not Shinnok as DLC?

Teasing for a sequel at this point is idiotic. This game recently came out, and with all the hype that was around it, it needs to be the prime focus for a long while. DLC characters don't have to affect storyline, especially since they won't add to the Story mode. Shinnok didn't have his own moves in MK4 due to limitations or something, I see no reason he couldn't have his own moves in this game. We want character variety, and Shinnok can provide that with his own moves.

People seem to be drawing lines, connecting dots that just do not exist. Shinnok being DLC in this game just indicates that he will be playable in this game. I see in no way how it could be a precursor to him not being the boss in the potential sequel.

I'd just rather see him in MK 10 because MK 9 is all MK 1 thru UMK 3 characters (Kratos doesn't count, and is a bull shit non-MK character, IMO).

Sure, you could argue that Kenshi is going to be DLC, but that's because Ed Boon has a hard-on for him.
He SHOULDN'T be considered as DLC either, but whatever.

MK 10 should be about 1/3 of the MK 9 roster, with Shinnok as the MAIN villain.
I'm thinking roughly 9 to 10 characters.
The more popular ones like Sub-Zero, Scorpion, Johnny Cage, Sonya, Raiden (Since they didn't die) and maybe 4 more that would be integral to MK 10's Story
(like Noob Saibot and Quan Chi, due to the whole "Trying to take over the NetherRealm" issue).

It wouldn't be an MK 9 with the same roster.
It would be MK 10 continuing from where MK 9 left off (as much as I hate the sound of it).

EDIT:
Think about it.
Ed Boon could continue the MK story from MK 9 and have another chance at rectifying the characters that everyone bashes him for.
You can't just throw in a whole bunch of post MK 3 characters in, without giving them a story.
Ed Boon also replied on Twitter that NRS wasn't doing extra Story Mode DLC.

You can't just throw in a whole bunch of post MK 4 characters in, without giving them a story.

Shinnok isn't post-MK4. He is an MK4 character. Quan Chi and Kenshi are fine, noone said this game had to be strictly MKTrilogy-era characters. Besides, at least Shinnok's presence was known in the MKT era. Check Mileena (and I think Noob's) endings in that game. All of these "reasons" I see that are against-Shinnok's DLC inclusion have so many holes in them, it's ridiculous. People are just nitpicking for the sake of nitpicking. He's a cool character, and can add more variety to this already awesome game.

Sorry, I meant post-UMK 3.
FIXED ;-)

EDIT:

I know what you mean about him being a good character to add, because NRS has shown that they can completely overhaul just about any character that was detestable, in the past games.
*cough*Stryker*cough*cough*Sheeva*cough*

I agree that Shinnok can add more variety to the game, but I just don't want to see NRS starting to dump off a whole mess of post-UMK 3 characters into MK 9, just for the sake of it.

For that, you just continue the story with the characters that survived MK 9 (even if it's means NO Sub-Zero :-(), and add those post-UMK 3 characters to the NEXT game, with a NEW story mode.

All I'm saying is that it would be nice to see MK having some sort of consistency, and getting the MK story straight this time around, by not just throwing in random characters.
Characters being thrown in, for no reason, in the first place, is what got us to MK: Armageddon.
For once, it would be nice to see NRS not repeat the mistakes that they made when they were better known as Midway.

Do you not know how the game industry works, or even MK for that matter. They're going to save Shinnok for the next game and build in an awesome story arch, plain and simple. They don't want your $5, they want your $60. Shinnok being in this game would simply be throwing in a character because he's kool. As you said, this game is already awesome, and people are going to keep on playing, so there is no need to throw in another "show stopper" character. They did that with Rain, and people are already excited to get him. I agree, Shinnok is a beast, but a beast best saved for the next game. If you want to play as him, play MK4 or MK Armageddon.
