When Is It Okay To Rage Quit

Reading Riko's post I should clarify.

I only quit during fatalities in Ranked. In Player I sit through it. Outworld Goddess fatalities me every time she wins without exception. It pisses me off but I still sit there and wait for the select screen.

I am okay with it "being a part the game" but "pause and exit" is too. I hate RQs and people hate having to wait for the other guy to get his ego stroked by getting a fatality in. So to be fair, I'll skip the fatality if it prevents a RQ, now everyone is happy and I get a rematch screen instead of a disconect prompt.

RQing is a bish move if someone disconnects during a fatality, and both people get a disconnect and the winner doesn't get his W.
The winner won fair and square, so denying him a W because the loser doesn't want to sit through the fatality is bullshit.
NRS needs to fix that for MK10, so that the winner can still do the fatality and the loser can leave, WITHOUT disconnecting the match.

I agree with what your are saying but lets be realistic about the people who play this game:

On line lag = "lag exploits"
Players that are out-matched = "Babalities"
Projectile zoning = crying over "spammers"
A really good tool = "Broken"
Bigginers room = "Let's beat up some noobs"

On a high level, none of this matters because they learn ways to get around things or they adapt to the other players patterns and as long as you have meter you can still win. This is something you can't apply to online because of the mix skill levels, a casual player who plays the game on easy or normal once and a while and dosen't look for information online would lose half a life bar on one combo and see the match as over - so they quit and look for a player on their level. It sucks but that the cost for online gameplay.

I only play friends from here and the tournaments I go to near by for good games - Treadmill, CL, BBBLP, Squirrelpion, and OG have all bodied my best character - OG will pull a fatality almost (if not) every time - Squirrel will teabag and joke around the entire time - while the other three are more interested in the next match.

Finishing moves are a good thing. It gives the loser time to think and analyze the what they did wrong and what to do on the next match - that's why most pros skip them.

Rage quitting is a Bish move IMO but if you want a fair shake for your well played game then you need to look for local tournys near by or stick to playing friends.

She does that to me too. I don't mind because she doesn't get mad if I pick Kratos, if do them to her or if I pick Scorpion who she seems to really hate.

Agreed.
I don't play MK9 ONLINE anymore, MAINLY because of the people.
I haven't played some MK in a while online, but when I did it was against squirrelpion, DCP or some of the other peeps here.
While I don't win often, I am going to try to play again, get better and learn from my mistakes.
I just have to find a local tourney scene, so that I can practice more and get better.

I always play through to the end with everything. I only quit if I have real world shit to deal with. Other than that...

Never.

I suck it up like a man and do one of two things...

Reverse the odds and win like a beast.

Or...

Lose like a little biatch.

I stick it to the bitter end... Always. Why wreck things for everybody else. If both my allies quit in a match of Halo Wars five seconds into the game, I give the three players on the other team a run for their money, make them work for the win. Hell, sometimes I even win myself. I honestly can't recall a time where I quit a game out of frustration. The idea just doesn't sit well with me.

If you rage quit in a 1v1 game, thats stupid. However, I think that "rage quitting" is okay when for example on a fps, you join a match midway where your team are just getting slaughtered or there are blatant connection problems.

I seem to join lot's of matches where the odds are stacked in the other teams favor. No point in digging out of a hole I didn't make.

Wasne aware of that. Doesn't matter to me though. Fatalities are boring, I'm skipping them :fawkdance:

They get a win anyways.

They get a win even if you leave after the character selection screen starts.

A disconnect in the MK servers, gives you a disconnect.

as in if they PULL their cord. But he winner who DIDN'T DC still gets their win.

The loser gets out of a loss if they pull the cord.

But if you quit out through the menu. You get a loss, and the opponent a win.

but who cares?

even if they didn't get a win on their stats.

Nobody online cares about stats. trust me.

Nobody significant anyways.

I'll always back BBBLP on this subject. Let it be known I'm not quitting out of the game in rage. if your a stranger I'm quitting out because it saves me time. I can easily find someone else who'll do no blood code with me, or skip fatalities. I'lll leave you guys who like to waste hours of your life repeating fatalities.

There is a reason me and BBBLP spank that ass, and it's because we get more training in than the people who do a fatality in every single time.

Why does it have to be a troll move though.
Fatalities are a part of the game, just as much as characters and DLC are.
If the game has them in there, I want to do them because I like them.
If I tea-bagged then did a Fatality, THEN it would be trolling.

correct me if I'm wrong Araknyd.

but didn't you at some point get raged about freddy, and vowed to not even DL him as DLC?

you're upset for people quitting out during fatatlies because they don't wanna see it.

yet you block out an entire character yourself because you don't want to see it?

I mean I might be wrong please correct me if that's the case.

Never. Don't be stupid! It's just a video game who's servers will be gone after a few years anyway, who gives a shit if you have a losing record.

nah these servers will last longer than the last ones unless a new MK game comes out.

trust me the life of this game will be longer.

cuz it was actually good.

Completely wrong, sir.

I didn't DL Freddy, but I do have the Unmasked Sub-Zero and CSZ Klassic costume that came with it, which automatically brings the compatibility pack.
Just because I didn't DL him, doesn't mean people can't use him against me.
I voted, with my wallet, that I wasn't going to BUY the Freddy DLC and support something that I didn't like.
Plus, you forget that in order to play online, EVERYONE had to DL the mandatory patch, which included the Freddy compatibility pack.
So, regardless of my hate for Freddy, if you choose to use him against me, the option is there.
I'm not so petty as to not get the compatibility pack.
You must have me confused with someone else.
If others want to use him, that's their right, just as it's my right to do a fatality after I've won. ;)

The point is:
Unless you're playing in an actual tournament, rage-quitting / pulling the plug / quitting is a bish-made move.
I don't RQ when AMES uses Kratos against me, nor do I quit if someone uses Freddy against me, because it's a bish move. So is quitting during a fatality.
The fatality wasn't done by me restraining myself or playing differently throughout the match by doing something like using only low kicks, or not pressing certain buttons, so I really still don't see what all the butthurt is about.
Babalities and Friendships I understand 100%, but not fatalities.

Araknyd, baby we cool, but you're lying. I distinctly remember you and the other Freddy hater ranting about how you weren't going to download the compatibility packs. And how, just like now, Critical and I were against your idea.

Wasn't even that long ago, you can probably go and look in those locked threads.

Its things like this that make me wonder if you even read our posts. Nobody is mad, butthurt, sour, cross, angry, pissed or raging at a fatality. I don't throw my controller when you kill my character. You're just taking up my time. Don't be mad at me bro, I'm just doing the universal Hara Kiri command. Start, up, X, X ;)

I have all 4 compatibility packs, so I'm not lying.
They're there.
You can log in to PSN after 7pm when I get to my house after work and check it.
Kenshi, Skarlet, Rain and Freddy compatibility pack are all there.
The only 2 characters that I ACTUALLY downloaded are Rain and Skarlet, and I regret downloading Skarlet because I didn't care for her gameplay nor style.

I refused to play the a$$holes that were trying to shove Freddy down my throat, but if you CL, or anyone else on my friend's list wanted to use Freddy or Kratos against me that's fine.
You have to remember that back then, we had A LOT of MK bandwagon casuals, that got off of HALO and COD for 2 months to play MK, that had the shooter mentality of "I will kill you with Freddy, and shit down your throat" that they picked up from playing those games.

I NEVER denied ANYONE on my friends list any character that they chose against me.
squirrelpion, DCP, Mike Raizy, Jade, Pat, AMES, Freyith and any of the other various TRMK members that I have on my friends list can tell you that I've never denied anyone on my FRIENDS LIST from using a character.

Online randoms is a different story, and is what I was referring to in those past posts.
The a$$holes who boost up their post count with the cheapest character that they can find online, NOT people who legit play MK with skill.
I stopped playing randoms a LONG time ago, but when MK9 first came out, THAT'S what I was referring to.

I read all the posts, but I think we're not understanding each other.
You see fatalities as being a showboat move. I don't
You see quitting during a fatality as getting to the next match, but without prior context, it comes off as a RQ / Quit to the other person on the other side, and it also rubs people the wrong way.
No hard feelings. Just sayin.' ;)

Quitting during a fatality to get to the next game defys logic. Well atleast in the EU/UK considering how F'ing long it takes to get a game.

Then again these are probably manifestations of all the soot for toothpaste and tea we drink.
