What character surprised/disappointed you?

Surprised:
- Kano - a very very noob friendly character in his default cuttroat variation, couple of quick moves you can start match with to get a first hit (at least against AI), very easy 20%+ combos, fast projectiles, dropping from air special that hits low, anti air special.
- Jackie Briggs - i thought i will hate her, but she is really fun to play as
- Goro - i expected him to have some big fat restrictions, but no, he is increadibly fun to play for me, i didn't have this fun with a shokan since MK4, i really missed it for years, thank you NRS.

Dissapointed:
- Cassie Cage - i thought her specials were better than that, i love to incorporate special moves in my gameplay, but with her i only used her easy combos in story mode and that's it, maybe i should try this "space weapon control" variation one day, but so far i have no intentions to play as her.
- Kotal Kahn - i knew he was slow, but THAT slow? Goro feels so much faster and stronger in comparison to him (and i thought it must be other way around), this not even funny. The character itself is great, but he clearly need better moves for the next game.

Surprises :
Kano - I've always loved his character concept and design but always hated his gameplay. He's my main now, I love all his variations.
Jax - I love his pumped up and full auto, they just feel natural for me.
Jacqui - I felt she was a wasted slot, but I've ended up using her a lot. She feels great in all variations. But I like High Tech the most.

Ferra / Torr and Kotal play how I expected and I love them. Though Kotal could have been given a few more unique specials on Sun God.

Quan Chi - disappointed in how slow his combos can be with physical attacks. Though I haven't properly given him the amount of time as I fell in love with others.

can you explain about Kitana? what about her gameplay is disappointing?

You know what? I'm actually glad you asked, because leading up to launch, I was very excited about assasin. But when I actually tried it in game, it just didn't feel right. I didn't feel there were enough pressure options for a rushdown variation. And it's a little clumsy. But today, I tried royal storm for a couple hours and LOVED it. Feels like classic Kitana. Might have found a new main.

Really suprised how little i miss some of the old mainstays being left out of the roster. The newbies are all really fun to play. Ive been trying to play more with Ferra/Torr instead of maining Raiden just due to the freshness and great writing for the characters dialogue.

I rarely get to play it, but the times I did get to so far,
Kotal Kahn disappointed me, big time. I can't get a handle on him and his moveset is literally all over the place to me. I'll never be playing him except for his ending.
Kung Jin disappointed me.
D'vorah was alright, but she still didn't catch my attention.
I was surprised to say that I enjoyed playing as Ferra/Torr. Thought I'd hate 'em.
I'll come back after I get to play again.

Surprises:
-I actually like a female character, that NEVER happen; D'vorah. I like her in the story and I'm doing ok with her play style.
-nice krypt full of surprises xD

Disappointment:
-Kotal
-Kano

Surprises: Mileena. Never used her in MK9, now her piercing variation has just become my main. I am also surprised with D'vorah and Sub-Zero, really liking those two.
Dissapointments: For now just Kotal Kahn. I used to love him in the comics, but I didn't really like the way he acted in story mode. Also, his gameplay is just too slow for me.

I had high hopes for Jacqui, but I never expected her to go above and beyond them. She plays exactly how I wanted her to. A zoner/rushdown hybrid with great damage output. Seriously, some of her damage comes close to rivaling Sektor's. It's beautiful.

Torr also blew me away. I only liked him aesthetically at first, but after tons of practice, I'm finding him pretty viable. He's slow as all hell, but he has certain moves that make you respect him.

Sub-Zero also has my attention. I hated him in MK9 because of how slow he was, but he's a damn speed demon in this one. cryomancer is much fun.

Kotal Kahn disappointed me pretty hard. The guy has so few combo strings. Juggling with him is definitely possible, but not as satisfying as others.

Yeah I will agree on Ferra Torr's ending being sad. That was an ending I honestly did not expect. But I will say, they are extremely fun to use. I just think they're cute. I've always thought they have been since the beginning. Mortal Kombat literally made a cute character. If you don't do any finishers with them and just let them do their victory pose, I cannot tell you how freaking adorable it is. Ferra screaming and Torr doing some random imitating grunt... then... wait for it... MUSCLE TWITCHES!!!

They're cute. Nuff' said.

Sub-Zero is definitely my main! Although I have not touched "Unbreakable" as much as the other two variations, he can be really awesome if used in the right way. I have not gotten defeated while using Sub-Zero so whatever I'm doing, I guess I'm doing swell. I really cannot complain about this character because they've perfected him. Others might disagree, but I truly feel this is THE best Sub-Zero EVER.

Although, if I were to make an improvement, I would definitely love to have seen his teleport move from Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe come back because I did some pretty nasty combos using that ability and no one wanted to play against me anymore (friend-wise not online) because they think I did something to the game itself.

Erron Black is another great character. I really didn't think I'd be picking up this character, but I did, and from what I managed to get out of playing gunslinger with, my god is that variation fun. Money shot is deadly when used in end combos or just when you want to add that last "ha-ha" towards your opponent. I still have a bit to go with him to get him to where I want, combo wise. I still struggle with a few things.

Same goes with Mileena's Ethereal variation. I know what to do and how to perform them, but sometimes I struggle in getting what I want out of her and end up either losing, or barely coming out of the match alive.

And last but not least, I'm actually playing as Sonya. The first time in history of this series, I'm touching Sonya and playing as her. Demolition is the variation I do well with because those grenades are just so powerful at times and I love that there are some combos that have you throw them at your opponent. You can tell what people haven't seen or played this variation yet because they freeze every time you call in the drone to collect more grenades. They either think it's gonna do something to them, or have no idea what the drone even does for you.

So yeah.

Have you seen their "too close" round win animation? Torr grabs Ferra's hand and walks her away from the body before slinging her on his back.

I'm not disappointed. But I am very surprised about who I would like and who I didn't. I've always been a Scorpion loyalist. But not anymore. I love his Hanzo design, but I've barely touched Scorpion and getting into him is so prohibitive. I thought I could roll out with him like I did with MK9 and was getting brutally punished for it. That's not a disappointment to me, but right now, I'm drawn to Jacquie (knew I'd love her), Jax, Cassie, and Takeda. I want to at least get good with 1 variation from each of these characters. Particularly Jacquie's shotgun variation and Jax's Wrestler variation. My god, those two are amazing. Cassie is just god damned fun. My lady friend/roommate kicks my ass with her all the time.
