I completely agree, but wouldn't you say 30-50% damage is quite enough of a reward? That's almost half of your opponent's life bar! Not too shabby imo.
Maybe 'Maximum Damage' from MK4 should make a return.

OP, ever thought you might just need a break from this game?
Maybe play something else for awhile or give games a rest for a bit. MK9 is on temporary hiatus for me while i'm play SF III OE.
I wish the game didn't have online. Then I wouldn't be forced to play it either.
People will try harder to find a LIVE person to play... if online didn't exist.
And people in person are way cooler than online. I can tell your how many angry/ragers i've seen at tournaments on one hand and I've been to like 30+. That's because someone who seems like a dick by the way he plays may not actually be one. I've played against people with really boring styles and they even apologize to me lol. And then I'm like "It's cool man if it helps you win go for it"
I'd have to say my worst experience IN REAL LIFE.
I beat a guy, barely it was a really close game. But since I was from out of state and not well known in the area. I guess he thought he lost to a random and apparently he's expected to place decently high. So I knock him out round 1. he yanks out his controller HARD and scoffs and shakes his head and walks away w/o shaking my GG hand.
So I thought ok.....
Went on to do the rest of the tournament.
The guy followed me around for every game of mine. And would shout "That's GAY!" if I did a combo. And would shout "GOOD STUFF" when I got combo'd except more vulgar. It was a little distracting not gonna lie.
I wanted to punch his face. But I just kept ignoring him instead.
I've pretty much always agreed with your posts, Critical. We definitely need to form a more tightly knit local offline community. And online definitely makes that seem impossible. I also think that I'd rage less if it were in person and I could see the guy and know he's not heckling my play style the whole time.
And wow, lmfao. What a sore loser. That's such a horrible trait. I can only imagine how much respect he lost that day.
I called him out on the boards. Luckily he admitted it.
And then his real life friends schooled him for me.
yeah with online... no one wants to leave the comfort of their home. I use to regularly drive 2 hours+ every weekend to play friendlies/tournaments/fests to play offline with a bunch of people. Pigofthehut posted EVO afterparty vids. They looked like they were having SOOO MUCH FUN. If you saw them....
All of that shitty attitude just makes me long for the arcade days.. It would be awesome (Especially during these hot summer days) to go to an airconditioned arcade and beat down some people, and get beat down of course haha.
I love the game, but I have never been a fan of the online.

I miss the arcades since they died. Would save up a lot of money and spend a couple of hours there at a time. When I played KI2 I had people coming over with wide eyes asking me 'how the hell do you do that stuff?' Good times.
Let's start an arcade! please.
Omg, the fact that all my local arcades are closed makes me feel old D: "Jillians" and "Dave and Busters" don't count, dammit! Ahh, I LOVED it when I was a kid and I'd get to play Mortal Kombat, Time Crisis, and House of the Dead in the same loud, techno-blasting room with other people face-to-face, man. Online is NOTHING like that experience and never will be. Meanwhile, in Japan, they have tons of arcades with multiplayer virtual reality Gundam suits battles. They literally jump into a Gundam suit and have virtual battle. Not fair!

Japan makes almost everything cooler...
