It's you. She looks fairly pale there, and I'd say is darker in the render we've seen of her (though still not as dark as she used to be, obviously).

Ferra/Torr had a few scenes in story mode, and they had two fights. And they almost killed Takeda...like twice. Give them a break people!

25 Characters, 25 Chapters. What I think these chapters should be about, in no particular order:
The Veterans
Ermac- After Shao Kahn's death, a battle within Ermac began as the former Emperor bound apart of himself to his creation as a failsafe in case he was ever defeated. Ermac resumed his servitude with Mileena. (Ermac's fights would take place in flashbacks scenes. Ermac would fight JC, Kenshi, Reptile & Kano).
Jax- Being revived to serve Quan Chi as a Revenant, Jax fought his friends at the closing of the Netherrealm War. Fighting JC to prevent the Earthrealmer's from follying Shinnoks plans. Later he would be seen again as a revenant fighting against his best friend and fellow soldier Sonya Blade, preventing her from helping a dying JC. With Raiden Intervening, Jax and other Revenants' souls are stored and Heroes are brought back to life. (His fights would be JC, Sonya, Kung Lao & Sindel)
Johnny Cage- Teaming up up with Sonya and her SF, Johnny now join them along with the remain heroes. He fight Shinnok and defeats him becoming the Champion of Earthrealm. (Fights Scorpion, Sub Zero, Rev. Jax & Shinnok). Later becomes a mentor to the younger Generation of Defenders to prepare them for what's to come.
Kano- After the defeat of Shinnok, the Cunning and Dangerous Mercenary, retreated to Outworld serving Kotal Kahn as a Technical Advisor and a Weapon's Supplier through an Intermediary, Erron Black. Still a menace to the SF Kano's (in the past) his operation was foiled by Cassie leading to their first encounter. Kano has managed to keep a low profile but as Mileena's rebellion gains power Kano was captured and through resourcefulness survived. (His fights in the past are with Cassie, Kenshi, Ermac [His fight with Ermac is where he strikes a deal with Mileena] & Sonya in the present). After his fight with Sonya, he is imprison but still lives, he is still a threat.
Kenshi- After leaving Takeda with Hanzo and the Shirai Ryu he sets out to find the Red Dragon and end their threat with the death of Daegon their Leader who is responsible for the death of his sons' Mother, Suchin. Years have passed and kenshi has all but eradicated the Red Dragon. (Kenshi's fights involve Kano, Rev. Kitana, Quan Chi & Takeda)
Mileena- During her Reign as Empress of Outworld, Mileena refused an alliance with Earthrealm against the Netherrealm. This led to a coup from her advisors Kotal, D'Vorah & Reptile. Mileena's fights in the past will be (Sonya & Ermac) In the Present her fights will be (Reptile & D'Vorah). As in the story her she will but in her fight will best her and in the cutscene, about to perform the final blow but is interfered by Cassie.
Quan Chi- Quan Chi had retreated once Shinnok was bested. Once back at his Fortress Quan Chi has devised a plan to release his Master. But while SHinnok is imprisoned QC power isn't at full strength and therefore uses the Revenants to fight his battles spreading out Earthrealm defenses. QC fights include (Sonya, Kenshi, Jax & Scorpion)
Raiden- Guilted with the deaths of his "Sons" Liu Kang & Kung Lao, Raiden tirelessly searches for ways to restore them to their human selves and make amends for the events that transpired. Guiding and aiding the SF and WL Raiden hope to prevent the rise of Shinnok when he hears of a talisman of great power used by Mileena. (His fights include Kung Jin, Baraka, D'Vorah, Rev. Kung Lao & Liu Kang & Reiko)
Reptile- Keeping his loyalty with Mileena after Shao Kahn's death, Reptile has grew weary of her rule and constant berating of him and using his Sauron race as the only way to keep him in check. Reptile has had words with Kotal Kahn who has been very blunt agaisnt her reign. When the time came, Reptile was first to strike against Mileena and her Rule. (Reptiles fight include in the Past Rev. Kitana & Tanya & in the present Takeda & Jacqui)
Scorpion- Freed from QC, Scorpion managed to gain his control his Rage with the help from Kenshi. Scorpion then devoted his time to rebuilding the Shirai Ryu. Being tricked his his clan was once again destroyed. Set out on finding Raiden to exact revenge. Raiden Explains why he could not be fully honest with Scorpion and ask Scorpion for help in finding Sub Zero who has not returned from his mission. Years later Scorpion has fully trained Takeda and now assigns him with the SF. (Scorpions fight include JC, Kenshi, Sub Zero & Quan Chi)
Shinnok- Having been released from the Netherrealm he, continues his plan take Earthrealm and exact his revenge among the Elder Gods. His Fight include JC, Raiden, Kotal Kahn, Reiko, Quan Chi & Cassie Cage.
*His fight w/ QC is QC's punishment for abandoning him before he was imprisoned in his own Amulet. Still finding him useful he lets him live
Sonya Blade- Convincing her World Leaders of the opposing threat, they unify the worlds forces to detect and defend against other Worldly Threats. The death of her friends weighed heavy on her. Finding in peace Johnny Cage, they had a daughter, Cassie. For a time she knew happiness but once the threats had become bigger, Sonya put her family 2nd to her duties which is the cause of the tension between the family. Tasked with finding a way to end these threat, Sonya's job isn't made any easier with her old nemesis Kano, catching her ATTENTION. (Sonya's fights include Rev. Scorpion, Rev. Sub Zero, Quan Chi & Kano)
Sub Zero- Under Quan Chi's control Sub Zero foiled many of the SF missions. Once freed he set out to rebuild the Lin Kuei which was led by its Grandmaster Sektor who Cyberized all its members. Seeing no other choice but to fight and kill its members who he once called brother. Confronting Sektor in Battle for the right to be Grandmaster. Beating him and discovered the truth of his brothers Bi-Han and Shirai Ryu death. Sub Zero now rebuilds the Lin Kuei as Earthrealms protectors and sets out to let Hanzo know of the truth he discovered. (Sub Zero's fights include Sektor, Kano, Cassie, Jacqui, Takeda, Kung Jin, Scorpion & Kotal Kahn)
New Blood:
Cassie Cage- Serious like her mother & quick witted like her father, she is liked in the SF. Trained to be a Leader her mother gives no breaks. Given her first mission she disrupts an illegal arms trade. Encountering her mothers enemy Kano, they foil his plans but not before he escapes. Years pass and Cassie is given a team she is to Lead, being overlooked by her father, Johnny Cage. (Her fights include Kano, Sub Zero, Reptile & Shinnok)
D'Vorah- First Minister of Kotal Kahn, D'Vorah was present when the coup of Mileena took place. She protects him at all cost and at time and offers aid and optional plans. Year's of service and recently she has begun to question her loyalty to her Emperor. She remains at his side but for how much longer. (Her fights include Baraka, Tanya, Rain & Mileena)
Erron Black- Formerly from Earthrealm, EB found himself in Outworld enslaved by Tarkatans. Managing to break free, he killed his capturers'. Wandering the vast Outworld planes, he was discovered by Kotal Kahn and healed. Indebted to him he offered his services to the Emperor. Assigned with being the Mediary to for Black Dragon, EB has had his differences with Kano but realizes the importance of his supply's are to the Emperor. (His fights include Baraka, Kano, Takeda & Jax)
Ferra/Torr- Bound together, not much is known of these 2. They serve Kotal Kahn as personal bodyguards. (Their fights include Kung Jin, Johnny Cage, Scorpion & Sub Zero)
Jacqui Briggs- Specialist Briggs joined the SF along with her best friend, Cassie. After jax was restored, him and his wife Vera had Jacqui. Jax became overprotective of his family after everything he had been through. Her joining of the Military wasn't a popular choice, it had put a strain on his family and his friendship with General Blade. Spc. Briggs is now assigned to Cassies team as they set out to find information about an Amulet of immeasurable power. (Her fights include Sub Zero, Reptile, Ermac & Ferra/Torr)
Kotal Kahn- New Emperor of Outworld, Kotal's rise to power came from a coup to overthrow Mileena's rule. An Osh-Tekk and Honorable man Kotal's reign isn't to conquer or enslave as was his predecessors but is what's best for his people and Outworld. Abiding the Reiko Accordance he and Earthrealm have an uneasy alliance. Due to events that have unfolded, Kotal has been forced with making heavy important decisions that could jeopardize the Reiko Accordance. (His fights include Kano, Tanya, Rain, Mileena, Kung Jin, Sub Zero Reiko)
Kung Jin- A thief, KJ, raids Raidens Sky Temple to steal an heirloom that he thinks was unjustly given. Confronted by Raiden, he changes his mind and is urged to join the Wu Shi academy as his cousin once did. Years later KJ is with the SF and is assigned with finding intel on a Amulet. (His fights include Raiden, Ferra/Torr, Erron Black & Kotal Kahn)
Takahashi Takeda- Rescued by his father, Kenshi from an assassination attempt, Kenshi left Takeda with Scorpion to train with the Shirai Ryu. Years later Takeda is ready and assigned to the SF. Upon his completion he is greeted by his father which angers him even more. The truth revealed about his mother and the reason he left him behind explained. Kenshi finishes Takeda's training with their family gift. His skills and gifts are proven to be very useful to his team. (His fights include Scorpion, Kenshi, Reptile & Erron Black)
I left out Kitana, Kung Lao and Liu Kang bc they are unplayable anyway. I will replace them with 3 other who i think deserve to replace the and have a chapter mode themselve.
Li Mei- With the Outworld rebellion spreading to her village, Li Mei was forced to evacuate her people to Earthrealm for Sanctuary. Before they could all be evacuated, she was confronted by Kano who "requested" she let him through. The two fought and Kano escaped as he killed one her people before going through the portal. Li Mei informs Sonya, Raiden and others of the talisman that destroyed her village and warms them of a man with a "Glowing Red Eye". (Li Mei fights include Kano, Tanya & Rain)
Reiko- A General/Advisor to Mileena, he secretly aligns with Havik to overtake Mileena and claim the Throne of Outworld for himself. In his servitude to Emperor Shao Kahn, Reiko was his General who wanted ultimate power of the Realm. With his plan foiled by SK's death, Reiko bidded his time, gaining trust with Mileena to become her closest advisor and lover. With his plans ruined yet again he was thought dead. With Shinnok released from his prison, Reiko times his attack as to gain the upperhand and Rid the Realms of his biggest threats, Raiden & Shinnok! (His fights include Kotal Kahn, Quan Chi, Raiden & Shinnok)
Fujin- Fellow God of Raiden, Fujin seeks alternate means of success if the heroes plans does not work. Last reported to be on the skirts of the Netherrealm, Fujin devises a plan to to vanquish the evil that threatens all realms. (Kotal Kahn, Quan Chi, Rev Kung Lao & Shinnok)

Also, you know that it's also been proven that there are 2 Random Selects, for some reason, same way to access in MK9 as is in MKX, strange, probably nothin.
On a side note,
Cassie needs to check her messages, she's one of those people that always leaves people on 'unread'.
Most of the fujin fans slumber on twitter, in that awkward RP side of our fanbase. I took a trip there last month. It was funny to see a D'vorah and Reptile love RP, and hard to resist interrupting it.

My main question is will we see Liu and Kitana as the new way out for the dead since they have control of Quan Chis pit they can bring back anyone. The brotherhood of Shadows also states the more wars the more neatherrealms forces grow. We could see even more fallen return since no stays dead in MK, but this gives them another way to revive fallen warriors without using Onagas story and starting something new. Since Onaga brought back all the fallen heroes from DA in Deception to do his bidding. I have nothing against Onaga but I just don't see them following the same story that lead to a reboot, even though the gameplay was the real reason.

Maybe I should have clarified. Originally, you said that you wanted a return to MKD/MKDA style of storytelling, so I was just curious how you could see that realistically playing out in this climate.
I absolutely and positively agree that NRS can do a much better job without fundamentally changing anything about how they make the game. Another half hour of dialogue, spread out across chapters 2-12, with nothing animated but characters' faces in close ups, would have been a very cheap way of fleshing out the world, the characters, and all the little subplots. It's not that hard to animate lip syncs in this day and age and it is puzzling why they would think that's not a priority.
