SoulCalibur V Confirmed

I've always loved Soul Calibur for its gameplay & modes.
II's Tales of Souls & III's Chronicles of the Sword are some of my favorite vidya game moments ever.

The badass music helps too.

To put some icing on the cake...

Soul Calibur's story is interesting, but it's very inconsistent. Just like Street Fighter and King of Fighters.

MK, Tekken and KI are the only fighting games with remotely consistent story lines. DOA? Forget about it.

Blazblue has a very consistent storyline.

Soul Calibur has some cool things they bring to the table

I like their mini modes. Like that one that felt like a RTS when you fought guys and took over towers you capture men turn them on your side, customize them and level'd them up.

^^^^
That crap was so fun.

If they did more stuff like that they'd stand out more IMO.

It had a cool RPG level up feel while maintaining a fighter feel. With a bit of RTS/movement strategizing.

Fun stuff.

anyone know yet if Altaïr is an alt costume for Ezio?
I mean its like the easiest and most predictable one they could ever do. I'll be shocked and kinda pissed if they dont have it. And I'm not even a huge fan of those games, but still.

There was one copy left at Target today, debated on getting it at first. Hesitated, then noticed if I bought it today through 2/4, I get a free $20 gift card (check your local Targets for this offer), decided I would get it then some dude comes up and gets the cashier to grab that and the new FF. I was like fffffff... so maybe it was a sign I should just skip it. DOA baby.

is there a boss on scv??? i played vs cpu against like 6 people and it just ended. wheres the thing where you fight a bunch of characters then you fight a boss?

There is no individual story mode for every character, so you don't get endings or a big boss battle. I wish there was though, because I hate Sophitia's son.

The more the reason for me not to get this game. Thank you! How can they leave out individual story endings for other characters?

Good thing I didn't get the game right away. I can't believe they never did that. They could've added another story mode, based on Maxi and company's adventures before their encounter with Patroklos and Soul Calibur. Or another story where Siegfried's mercenary group were up to destroying any malfested encountered, including a backstory in cutscenes on how each of the lieutenants (Hilde, Z.W.E.I., Viola) joined.

Plus, the story mode was much better than IV. But it was way too much concentrated on the Alexandra siblings, although playing as Z.W.E.I. was a good change of pace of getting away from either Patroklos or Pyrrha.

Soul Calibur just doesn't really stand out for me like other fighters.

MK has its gore.
SF has its art style.
Tekken has it's mechanics.

When I think of Soul Calibur I just think of another fighting game :/

uh, is weapon based, how can that not stand out lol.

i dont get why ppl are hating on this game without trying it out first smh, this game is amazing. at least this game has a story mode. what about twisted metal? it seems like it wont have individual story too. but are you not picking the game up because of that, considering how fun and how great the gameplay is, thats a stupid reason not to get a game. this game has amazing graphics and gameplay.

I picked this game up yesterday, I like it so far, but Legendary Souls and some of the quick battles are ungodly hard. Still fun, but seriously, shit is hard as hell.

I like it so far but arcade mode has me a little dissapointed though, but story is pretty good even though sophitia's son is kind of an arrogant ass and her daughter is a total twaffle from what I've seen so far. Create a character is good too.

how much has it improved from the last game? I loved it in 4, but I'm worried that they havnt done much to expand it.

It hasn't changed much from 4 but thats not a bad thing though. I just wish I could apply ezio's move set to my own character.

Patrokolos is Sophitia's son. Cassandra isn't even mentioned, which I thought was stupid.

If you liked it in 4 you'll probably like this one, It has a lot of new features while having pretty much everything SC4's creator had. I've been able to create some cool characters and I haven't even unlocked any of the good parts.

aw man that sucks. I was also mad that you couldnt make a custom Jedi character based off the Apprentice in SC4. Cmon now, you know that would have been badass.

Still, I love the custom features in these games. I really need to get around to playing this game this week.
