Should Hydro ever be considered as a character for MK10?

How the hell is Hydro a shitty character? He doesn't even have a ****ing story or personality or any official abilities.
 
Hydro

Hydro was a close friend of Sub-Zero and a fellow Lin Kuei. He journeyed with Sub-Zero to combat the forces of Outworld. Hydro has the ability to control water and even blasted strong waves of water that were so freezing cold that they could actually freeze the opponent upon contact.
After Scorpion and Hydro fought in Outworld, Hydro was killed, as part of the undead wraith's promise of killing all of Sub-Zero's friends and family before killing Sub-Zero himself.

In Mortal Kombat: Legacy, Hydro is portrayed as a training program used to demonstrate Cyrax and Sektor's abilities. This version of Hydro displays the skills similar to other Lin Kuei cyborgs, such as conducting electricity. Ultimately, Hydro was bested by both cyborgs, allowing Cyrax to perform a Fatality.

That's all we know about him, though is not cannon with the videogames...

None of that is canon, though. One is from a comic, the other a web series. And both are different. So... There's really nothing official. He's a name with a few different concepts going around. That's it. I think he could be made into something awesome if they put some effort into it. He has the potential.

you'd think people would agree Rain is enough water characters but I guess not.

I mean he's ok, I'd like him more as a cyborg if he was in the game (if only Cyber sub didnt exsist)


EDIT : also, Why do people say Frost or Robo Smoke shouldnt be in the game cause we have enough Ice character/Robots, yet think Hydro needs to be added? Hypocrites........

Well I for one don't mind Frost. Once in a while you're gonna have a character that mirrors another character's ability. As long as their personality and story is unique, it's really not a HUGE problem. I'd welcome Frost into this game.

As for Cyber-Smoke, I don't want him to be a separate character because Smoke is ALREADY in the game. As an alternate costume? Sure, why not? But Cyber-Smoke is not involved with the story and doesn't deserve his own separate slot.

Now Hydro doesn't necessarily have to mirror Sub Zero OR Rain. If they're creative enough, they can do something pretty unique and interesting with him.
 
I think the golden opportunity to bring out Hydro was to have him be the blue cyber ninja, but as another blue human ninja, it would be a bit excessive, at least IMO.
 
Oh my goodness,. you mean the game can't have a new character? Just because his element is water/lightning? Take out Shang Tsung and Liu Kang then, we already have Scorpion.
 
If they put hydro in, then every Cyber Smoke fanboy is going to shit bricks because Cyber Smoke isn't in...but Hyrdro?? Then all the Hyrdo hate is going to increase. Note to MK Community...You're Predictable!

Actually Tremor was in MK: Special Forces if I remember correctly, and Hydro was in the Non-Canon Comic book of the 90s

Honestly, the annoyance with people who want more obscure characters is just ridiculous. Characters like Tremor, Hydro, Meat, Chameleon... They all have a lot of potential and some people just want to see them be put to use.
 
I just don't get it. I honestly think because the character is "obscure" you guys immediately want it. He's a BLUE Ninja from the LIN KUEI. Sounds alot like Sub-Zero to me. You guys got your Water/Electricity ninja in Rain, and, again, we DON'T need any more ninjas, and certainly not any more damn Lin Kuei (We are up to..what 5 now? 6 if you include Frost).

You can change the concept, but then its NOT Hydro anymore, and thus just makes no sense. You HAVE a water based ninja. You toiled and bugged Boon for months bout it. USE HIM.

Stop looking at bringing in old shit characters that Boon & co. rightfully ignored, and focus on good new ideas.

And if you don't lik people posting their thoughts on Hydro (against him anyways), then don't name the thread as a question next time. You can't take the criticism? Rename it Hydro lovefest thread.
 
Yes, there is. I think MK has more ninjas than Street Fighter has shotos, at least in SF's main series. And thats sad.

Ninjas are the ****ing face of Mortal Kombat. You can't keep reusing the same old ninjas. Scorpion and Sub-Zero have been around FOREVER. And the only reason people accept it is because they've kinda become the poster children for the series.

But how much more do the other ninjas have left in them without seeming redundant? Eventually we're gonna need some new ninja-like characters thrown in.

Personally, I think he is a waste of space in his current form. Had they included him in the story at least for this game, and for drama purposes, killed him off and thus, he could appear in a future game in a new form, I'd be down for it. I don't want a blue ninja who utilizes water, nor do I want a blue robot who utilizes electricity.

I'm not sick of ninjas because the majority of the ninja characters have been re-imagined and half are no longer characters but I don't want them to waste their time with Hydro, when they are sitting on characters with great potential already.

We have Rain... If you want more clones, go play MKA

People finally get a good mortal kombat game that is nearly perfect and everybody *****es because they want new characters every 10 seconds... Even ones that are dumb and obscure like Hydro (and whatever that weird sand ninja idea was...)

Honestly, we have enough boring-ass ninjas in the game as it is... IMO we need at least one more female dlc... I wanna see some girls kickin ass ;)
