Saddest Moments in Video Games

Mega Man gets a new weapon for each boss he kills.
Ville gets 3 to 6 weapons for each boss he kills.

@rook and humansmoke: i found the part where ryu's father actually dies a "sadder moment" in games.

but nothing beats aeris's death in ff7. (i swear its aeriS not aeriTH)
 
Or the part when that dude gets shot, I can't remember it, had to be well over 15 years ago I played it.

Aerith's death wasn't sad, it was totally bad-ass! So bad-ass, in fact, that it single-handedly made Sephiroth my favorite character in the game! Though if I were in Sephiroth's shoes, I would've ripped her spine out and drank her blood, then I would've ran her spine right through her chest, chained her corpse to a pick-up truck, and driven down the Interstate at 70 MPH, and dumped her corpse into a sewer!

That's really the only RPG I play anyway. What's wrong with liking Sephiroth and hating Aerith? I mean, you're villifying ME for coming up with cool ways to kill Aerith on a website that endorses a game that GLORIFIES fatalities? Come on now!

And besides, there is only one TRUE tragedy in gaming, and it's this!

Michael Vick = fibula, prison
Ray Lewis = wrist injury cost his team a playoff spot
Donovan McNabb = sports hernia, ACL, benchings
Shaun Alexander = foot
Vince Young = benchings, coaching dispute
Brett Favre = Jenn Sterger, bounty victim
Troy Polamalu = MCL
Larry Fitzgerald = bad QBs
Drew Brees = MCL, bounty scandal
Peyton Hillis = hamstring, strep throat
