PS3 or XBOX360 - Why chose one over the other?

I think it depends on how you judge it owning both and having good experiences with both I'll try to put out my answers. :

On controllers: Although obviously the PS3 is better built for fighting games, the 360's D-Pad is not bad once you get used to it. Just like the stick, don't expect to be decent without quite a bit of usage.

Exclusives: Although 360 does have more exclusives it all depends on what you want. Like RPGs go with PS3, wants shooters 360, etc. Can't live without Disagea, go Sony, can't live without ___ go Microsoft. (Note, series used are just examples as is ___)

Problems: I must be one of the rare who has never really had RROD or any Sony based problems, so I consider both great.

It really broils down to price for online service: 40>60 (if you want PSN+ benefits as compared to XBL)

But overall I think both consoles are generally great in their own right. It really comes down to a flip of the coin in my opinion.

Personally, I went with Xbox over PS3 because at the time I bought mine the PS3 was twice as expensive. I spent a lot of time working in electronics retail and saw firsthand how Sony went from being a high end brand to charging $100 extra for the name brand alone. Kind of like the Bose of video products. They finally started pricing the PS3 more competitively, but by then I already had a 360 and enough of a library to not want to invest in a new system.

Both have their pros and cons, and as long as you like the one you have that's all that matters. Besides, console wars are as old as gaming itself. I'm sure if there was an internet in the 70s there would be flamewars over which Pong system was the best.

There both going to look exactly the same and both builds are going to run just as smooth as one another I imagine. Exclusives and which system is most comfortable to you, should be you ultimate decision. I for one feel that the PS3 controller defiantly has a better design for fighting games which is my ultimate decision for getting the PS3 version. Well Kratos dosent hurt either. Could live without puzzle combat. As far as exclusive stages I imagine Xbox owners are pleased with Pit 3 arena which is going to kick ass. Love God of War but honestly the ending when you fight Zues in God of War 3 was uneventful for the conclusion of the story considering it is one of my favorite games. The arena is based off of the conclusion to the series when Kratos fights Zues in a 2D style battle but the background was kind of bland from what I remember so hopefully they change a good portion of it in the Mortal Kombat game.

Xbox 360

1) I always felt the online was better
2) Gears of War
3) Halo
4) Controller
5) Dead Rising 1

People complain about the Red Rings but my Xbox is over 4 years old and I've only got it once AND I'm an avid gamer. Also, Microsoft fixed it for free and had it back in a month.

"Ewww you pay for online!" -PS3 fanboy

The online is $60 for a WHOLE YEAR. If you can buy 15+ games a year I think you can dish out $60 for a fantastic online service.

PS3 is great too but I prefer Xbox any day of the week. I've never regretted buying one and I don't think I ever will.

(How did I find this thread? I just searched "Tekken" lol)

PS3 has the ability to save music & vidyas to its hardrive.

I look at the 360 as a primitive rock for lacking that function.

Welli have had a xbox360 for 3 years now. And i have to say im glad i have went with xbox.
I got a ps3 for xmas (the 60gb fat because i want a BC ps3 to play the old mk games) and it red lighted on me the morning i plugged it in :/. I only got to create my account. But i should have it back tommorow or saturday. So yea not a good strat with the ps3 :(

Plus, if you want to replace your hard drive, all you have to do is go buy a SATA 2.5" hard drive (make sure it's 5400 rpm; I chose not to take chances on a 7200 rpm). I have a 40gb fat model that I got for Christmas in 2007, and just recently, I ran close to empty on space. I bought a Western Digital Scorpio Blue 500 GB hard drive. Now I'm set at least until the next gen consoles (if we get that far, that is...this gen has already exceeded the typical 5 years).

I laugh at fanboys and their pride they have in their consoles. Both are almost the same to me, with a few exclusives here and there. But I slightly favor PS3, because it's overall more comforting to me for some reason. Makes me feel I'm playing games like I did when I was a kid. I dont know there was something missing about Xbox 360 but I cant put my finger on it. And I like the black colors of the PS3, and it's controller. My friend's got one, so thats how I know.

I owned an Xbox 360 for years, but recently sold it to my brother. So I can still play it if I go over to his place. He plays it more than I did anyway, and I made a profit. Everyone's happy. But I may get a PS3 someday, when I feel the urge to get back into playing more games.

i own both consoles so hope it helps

Graphics: same for both consoles although ps3 has 3D for MK9 (which personally doesnt matter to me)

Controllers: ps3 has better d-pad for fighting games (i personally like the 360 d-pad a lot more though). everything else about xbox 360 controller i prefer. better shape, more comfortable for you hands, MUCH BETTER PLACEMENT AND DESIGN OF ANALOG STICKS.

Online: Xbox Live has slighter better service (only talking about reliabilty and gaming online) and much better content. like someone said before ps3 is more of a entertainment console, xbox is for hardcore gamers so that depends on you. while Playstation network is free, xbox is better for its content and online playwhich is why you pay for xbox live in the first place.

Exclusives: ps3 generally has a better selection of different genres of exclusives titles like uncharted, GoW, infamous, Gran Turismo. while most of Xbox's exclusives are shooters, they are all PHENOMENAL. such as Fable, the Halo series, Gears of War, Forza. i own all the halos games and halo combat evolved is still as much fun as when i got it almost 10 years ago.

Pertaining to MK9: im getting it for xbox 360 for better online, and mainly because I DON'T WANT KRATOS in the game. i prefer a mk game of only mk characters but thats up to you.

Reliability: ive had the same xbox 360 since i bot it when they first came out and had no problems with it but i take care of my things so. same goes with the ps3. both consoles are very reliable and will last

Community: xbox live has a much larger online community. ps3 tries to say they have more but truth is most if not all ps3 users have multiple accounts (at least 2 or 3 including myself). AL L MULTIPLATFORMS ARE BETTER ON 360

Content: xbox live gets much better content (MK9 being the exception SO FAR) and gets content much earlier.

my personal preference is the Xbox 360 mostly because it has better online and thats what i play with my friends. i like the exclusives more even though i play pretty much every genre of video games (RPG, Racing, Fighter, Shooter, Adventure, Arcade Games)

Hope this helps with your decision

oops sorry forgot that ps3 has blue ray (i dont ever use it and blu ray players are really cheap now)

You, my good sir, are the god of gaming

PS3 has the ability to save music & vidyas to its hardrive.

I look at the 360 as a primitive rock for lacking that function.

Not to be rude my fellow MBN brother, but you CAN save music to a 360, all you need to do is put a CD in the tray and you can transfer them to your Xbox. and if you're not a poor basterd, then you can buy T.V. episodes and movies for as much as $5 (while on PS3, Blu-Ray movies cost as much as retail movies) from Zune then download them to your hard drive.

Anyways I choose Xbox because

1.) All my friends play Xbox
2.) Microsoft has better and stronger online servers
3.) Even though little PS3 fanboys whine about paying for online, They started to provide free 1 month trials.
4.) Left 4 Dead, Fable, Alan Wake
5.) There are more people playing Xbox than PS3 at the moment.
6.) If your Xbox DOES happen to break down, don't b!tch about it, you should've taken better care of your system. But if you think you did then there's obviously something you did wrong to it.
7.) Xbox has kinect. PS3 has glowing d!ldos
8.) An exclusive is an exclusive, who the hell cares. (BTW, Resistance 3 sucked ass)
9.) Xbox gets add-ons and other content earlier than PS3.
10.) Because pimppaperclip/L1ek 50 Ninjas plays it.

Your argument is very well said. With one exception, the PS3 was way more exclusives.

PS3-God of War, inFamous, Resistance, Twisted Metal, Metal Gear Solid, Gran Turismo, Uncharted, Little Big Planet, Killzone

Xbox-Halo, Gears of War, Forza Motor Sport, Fable?

Just in general, Ps3 was way more exclusives and half the games I listed have many prequels and sequels. Xbox does have a lot of very excellent shooters though.

Okay, I do NOT hate PS3(other wise I wouldn't own one) but I prefer the xbox 360 by far.

360 has much better first party/exclusive games(Gears of War, Halo, Kinect..others). I love my kinect, and didn't really see the point of PSM other wise to say "Yeah, we created motion support too, but no point in using it if you know...We just took what nintendo had and failed."

I don't care if PS3 online is free it sucks compared to xbox live. Playing Tekken, Mortal Kombat, RE5 and other multi-platform games you incounter a lot of problems comparing to the 360 games. I haven't even wasted my time playing COD or BF on the PS3 because I can just imagine how it would be to play online.

Most Sony exclusives I've played are pretty much from 3rd party companies, and all the Sony made ones I had I don't even own anymore with the lack of interest(innovation). The only Sony exclusive I like is God of War. I don't hate my PS3 I just love my xbox 360 more.

I own both they are both great systems, but I like my Ps3 a little bit more for a few reasons.

-First thing is that online is free. I dont play online often but when I want to play I'll just go to my ps3 knowing its free instead of me paying for something I wont use.

- Second the Ps3 controller is comfortable to me.

- Third Im just a playstation guy in general. I have owned a Ps1, Ps2, Psp, PspGO (even though I regret getting one) and a Ps3
The only reason I got a 360 first is because the Ps3 was too much money at one point.

I hope people dont read this and think Im a ps3 fanboy I love both. Xbox does have Gears after all :)

I do believe that Kinect is very good. But one thing Xbox lacks is a portable system, which the PS3 has called the PSP, PSPGO AND Vita.

I prefier the ps3 because of the controller and free online but i also prefier the 360 because of the xbox live exclusives and most of the games run at full 1080p.

Yeah, why choose one or the other when you've got a shiny new GameCube right around the corner at your local pawn shop ;)

I prefer xbox. Sorry also not a fanboy, in order for me to be a fanboy i would have to hate ps3 and eveyone who uses it. I reject the idea of hate in every way possible.

Bottom line, I like xbox more I have been playing nothing but playstation before I bought my 360. Ps1, ps2, and psp then xbox360 in that order was how it's been for me.

Also dont mind paying $60 a year for online privileges and offcourse this doesnt mean I dont want to own a ps3, but I dont have a job to pay for it, but I will when Im old enough to get a job

Yeah Havok I had ps1, ps2, and psp as well. I was planning to get a ps3 because I've been sony my whole life but Xbox just blew me away 8-)
