Ok we need to talk about the lack of female characters!

Completely disagree. Had more characters had a female attached to them, people would still complain. It's not about a lack of female's in the sense of being female, but the lack of female characters that you can play with. Had more characters had a little woman attached to them, people still wouldn't be satisfied. Ferra serves no purpose to the Ferra/Torr character aside from being Torr's 'personality.' There are a lot of fans who main females, them fans aren't gonna main Torr for the sake of Ferra.

correct but what people don't seem to understand is the amount of fans who play as the males LARGELY OUTWEIGHS the fans who use females. The males, are used more therefore they dominate the rosters.

Ferra is just Torr's brain, you don't consider Raiden's brain a character.

It's a bit extreme but that's kind of what people mean (my very self included).

Uh... I consider Raiden's brain a part of Raiden's character. Like theincubuslord said, they're together. I prefer to look at it as Ferra/Torr isn't one character, it's two characters who fight together. They add both a male and a female to the playable roster.

Exactly, I don't care about female characters, being Skarlet and D'Vorah the only exceptions.

Well Kitana is earning a place in my heart in this game, her assassin variation is sick.

Yes , agreed! I can't believe people count Ferra.
IMO the body that you can do the fatality on is what we should count the character as. otherwise it's an assist, like in marvel vs. LOL!!!

Characters who get assists aren't named "Assisting Character/Playable Character." They aren't even named "Playable Character/Assisting Character." They're just named for the character you play as.

With Ferra/Torr, you play as both. Pretty straight forward stuff.

i haven't cared about females till this game and i still really dont. I never really use them unless i play a friend who constantly picks one then ill eventually use one which was always either sonya or kitana. But cassie is becoming one i like. So is Jacqui.

Just because the majority are straight males who like to play as male characters doesn't mean they are the only ones who should be catered to though.

That's why there are female characters too.

But just like you said, the majority of us are males, so it makes sense that the majority of the characters are male too.

Depends on how you look at it. I find it kinda funny that alot of straight males prefers to play as big, muscly, half-naked men in games instead of busty, half-naked women. ;P

I know it's not about that though, don't worry.

i never said the female lovers shouldnt be catered to my point is they don't cater to them as much because they are the minority. Just like 3d era characters. Alot of mk fans love them but more people love the scorpions, subzeros, raidens, liu kangs, johnny cages, and kung laos of the world compared to fujins, reikos, haviks etc.. Majority always rules thats just the way it is.

lol I think it's like some sort of "I would like to be muscly and powerful like him, so I play as him" think, some weird psychology thing going on

I honestly don't understand how you see Ferra as playable but w/e.

She may in STORY/LORE tell Torr what to do. Which is why I made that statement earlier, that she counts in story/lore

But in game, your fingers control Torr. The code goes straight to Torr. You don't control Ferra and influence Torr like you would with Ice climbers, or the dog form Zappa in guilty Gear, or Nirvana from Blazblue.

This is only an issue because we're dividing it into black-and-white "she either is 100% a playable character, or is 0% a playable character."

Obviously the truth is that she's somewhere in between, she's far less playable than Torr, and far more playable than your typical assist character who swoops in for an attack and then disappears again. This is enough for me to consider her a playable female character on the roster. NRS obviously wants me to, because the character isn't named Torr.

I don't see how naming a character on the screen means they're playable...

I'd argue persona's in Persona 4 arena are more playable than Ferra. And no one counts them as playable characters.

Ferra's name on the screen isn't what makes her playable, the numerous moves, brutalities, and fatalities that she performs on the opponent after you press certain buttons makes her playable. All Ferra's name on the screen does is tell us what NRS think of her - an even split character just like Noob and Smoke.

I haven't played Persona 4, so I can't say.

her doing a fatality with you or doing a Xray with you isn't you playing her.. that's her acting on her own accord to your actions.

I would go as far an say Nirvana from Blazblue is more playable than Ferra. She is controlled somewhat independently from Carl and the player can even adjust her position on the screen.

We already have as much females than MK9 in what seems to be an overall smaller roster than MK9. I dont think that its lacking now.

That's all any character does, act "on their own accord" in response to me pressing buttons. So I guess no character is playable.
