MK HD Kollection

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

Debo. You must not be a real Mk fan or something. I don't know about others here but I don't care if they came out with all three on april the 20th and sold them separately. I'm not rich by any means but I would find a way to purchase everyone one of them on the release date. I really did not like the 3d versions of Mk but guess what? I still bought them because I love the franchise. I'm super super excited about the new game and yes I have the tournament edition prepaid at Gamestop but I would/will still drop my cash on the remakes no questions asked. I think any diehard Mk fan would.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

From a friend of mine working at Netherrealm, who obviously is gonna stay nameless, I've got the scoop on this one. The game does indeed exist, but it may not see the light of day. Yes, it was being made, some of the actors even shot some moves, but the resources weren't there for the team to do both games at once. They tried outsourcing the game to another developer, but it was to no avail. Then the boss from Warner Bros decided to get involved and said something to the effect of putting out 2 products too soon would "confuse" the consumer into which to buy. Sooo, he tells me the game is pretty much on indefinate hold, which in the world of video games, could very well mean canceled. Or, if MK9 performs very strongly, they could pick it back up for a release late 2011, or more likely 2012. The team most likely will see some sort of break post-release before finishing DLC, which is pretty common knowledge to be coming, and is already being prepared. Most likely they will not hault the post-release content for the sake of a compilation of nearly 20 year old games. Long story short, do not hold your breath on this release for anytime soon. I know it's my first post here, which could lead to some doubters, but I wouldn't go through all the trouble of creating an account just to make up stories to a select few on the internet. Just trying to help the community of a game I grew up with and love.

Confuse the consumer HAHA. Have you seen how successful Super Street Fighter II HD Remix was before the release of Street Fighter 4. Capcom was a genuis to do that. SSFII HD did not confuse the consumers of SF4. Look at the sales of Street Fighter and tell me they were confused, you may have a close source but that statement had to have been a mistake.

**** you both....im drinking. damn kids.....hey jarvis...i'll let you know how MK 9 is....can you even get a copy?

LOL is that supposed to make me upset? Sorry to disappoint. Rest assured, a copy will find its way to me. I've already played the hell out of the demo.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

It's simple, WB is waiting to see how MK does.

Remember, MK9 is a multi-million dollar investiment. If it does well, WB will want to cash in any way it can. How long could MK HD possibly take to make? Remember, MK and MK2 were both made in under a year with only Boon, Tobias, Forden, and I think there was some other guy involved.

Consider that for the new game, there wouldn't have to be any conceptualizing, no new music writing, and the tools available today are so much more advanced than in 1992. Basically, what I'm saying is that NRS could probably throw this game together in a week if they had to. It's not like they'll be reinventing the wheel, just recreating a 20 year old fighting mechanic, not exactly time consuming.

I would think if MK9 sells well, you'll have your MKHD.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

I'm with gamemk on the fact that they totally screwed the pooch when they went 3d. I'm an old school 2d Mk fan but in all honesty, I think this will be the best Mk game ever. I really still want the hd remakes though. Or at the very least do a redone Mk trilogy with every characters render, every stage and every -ality. Now that would be will worth 60 bucks or so.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

trust me..WB didnt buy the franchise so they could make a M rated game...they will do anything and everything to revive this franchise....the fact that they bought in an almost dead state tells me they know at one point it was a cash cow...they just have to recreate the magic...i am one of those people who fell in love with the series when i was a kid and MK 1 was at the corner liquor store...i spent many many many many hours playing that game there...and then one day went into a local pizza hut and MK2 just came out...i was blown away...it was faster and just more extreme....my obsession was deep at this point...mk 2 consumed me....

not getting too deep...moving on...the move to 3D hurt the series..i know why they did it but it just doesnt seem right....the best thing for me in the last few games have been the konquest mode and chess...the fighting has been stale...MK VS DC could have been a great game if it wasnt so memorable..the game play was good, had some great elements...i loved free fall kombat and going through walls...even the up close fights were fun with friends...story mode was lame..and then the toned down blood and gore...BS this is MK...i want over the top violence and screw midway and boon for selling out so hard on their brand....it might have been a thought but once DC started demanding or saying no to things i would have shut it down....if i was boon or whoever dealing with DC on the midway side...i would have been like "sorry this is an MK game where its extreme violence and its possible for batman to get ripped in half, if you cant fathom the thought then this project is scrap"...but its all about money...people bought it were cool with it and then were disgusted by it...

wow...sorry..been drinking...got off topic...anyways...WB knows theres money to be made in the franchise and its not with a new game or web series...its all in the old school...they know we exist and that we will buy it...nostalgia/rehashes are at all time high....im more surprised that WB hasnt released arcade proper ports on XBL or PSN yet...im dying for a proper MK 1 AND MK 2 release....backbone did ok but left out a few elements that made them lacking....MAME is ok...but i want them on my PS3 and as collection..my PC is my PC and i rarely run games on it anymore.....anyways...i do believe depending on MK9...there will be plenty of MK to come...and im sure MK9 will do very well...MK HD will come...its inevitable and if it doesnt..than maybe the people that call shots are morons

I really feel they just don't want conflicting sales. You can't blame WB for that either. They have been developing Mk 9 for a while now and they even gave Neitherrealm extended time to make sure it is the best possible game it could be. They have even gone out of the way to stay away from a holiday release, so they are not competing with other games. There has been a lot of advertising for this game including, Tv comercials, games store commercials, truck tours, merchandising, multiple game editions, a Web Series to promote Mk 9 and even a new studio. I mean, to be real honest they have invested too much in this game to bring out Mortal Kombat HD any time soon. This is a type of game that can seriously hurt a company if it does not sell well. WB has the best intentions for Mortal Kombat and WB does know how much of a Buzz the HD collection has made. So I am sure it will be release.
By the way I am 28 years old and when I saw Mk2 I was blown away myself. Honestly Mk2 was the best Sequel to any game I have ever played.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

See to me it's almost like two totally different game franchises. I think they let mk9 sell however many millions it's gonna sell and then do the hd remake. It's a win win situation. I really don't think there would beuch confliction with the two because your talking about two different generations. It would be like nintendo releasing a new super Mario bros game and a Mario cart game back to back. It's the same games in name but totally different in game play and fans. I know I would buy them both.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

Back, Down, Back, Forward, Down, Forward, Back, Back, Forward, Forward and Hi everyone:)
I was lurking in the dark of Living Forest for a while, but now registred just to tell you. OK... It's not something really new to you, but maybe will give some more hope. I was in contact with some guys from an Old MK team. I asked all of them... and you know, some are silent as dead fishes, but at least 1 of them said "If i tell you anything about this project, I'm gonna be killed by ninja assassins...". I won't point who was this not to betray him, but indeed, it's already something. If the answer was "No", there wouldn't be any reason to send ninja assassins anyway.
Nice to meet you here, guys:) I'm a Russian girl, playing MK since 1994 and still in love with It;)

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

So yeah, long time listener, first time caller type of thing here. I thought that the news that I have on the HD Arcade Kollection would make a good first post. So the fact of the matter is that it is very real indeed and not some hoax and or mystery that all of us apparently think it is. I really don't know why it has/is been kept under such secrecy but I do know for a fact that it is real and it is planned on being released. Let me just say that I have access to a source close, more or less, to the source where the information is being presented. So this is how it stands at this point in time.

The description for it reads like: "Includes the entire original cast from MK, MK 2, and UMK3. Presented in both original and newly updated HD format."

360 release date: First week of October.

PS3 release date: First week of July.

Unfortunately that's as much as I know at this point. Why the separate release dates or anything else related to it for that matter, I don't know. I'll keep you guys posted whenever I get something new my way as well.

Unless u can proove this , stop posting

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

One last time, the HD Kollection is the 'amazing' bonus that the very few of you that complete the challenge tower will unlock.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

So after reading these 3 pages we're right back to where we were before this topic was posted. In other words, we don't know anything.

The OP posted that his "source" says its real and coming this year, then a few replies later another person with a "source" says that project is indefinitely on hold and isnt coming anytime soon.

My personal take is that there is far too much evidence to say its dead, or doesnt exist and that it is coming. Our OP could have legit info, and the 2nd guy with a "source" is WB/Nethherrealm damage control.

I like Jeremy's idea above in that the HD Collection is unlocked within the game, and ive mentioned that before....Sounds too good to be true though.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

I thought too, it might be a bonus on the top of Challenge Tower. But this goes against logic. Why the hell would they include it into MK9 for free though very likely MK HD will have very good sells seperately? And in this case we'd probably see some screenshots or just hear anything about it in Ed's interview about CT. I think they just afraid that if they give us a real beacon ahead, the ones who was gonna buy a console for MK9 will just wait till MK HD comes out. For me, both, MK9 and MKHD are treasures, but lots of fans are much more into klassics. NRS and WB are not fools, they're doing everything to get more money. Just be patient and don't loose a moment.

I like this idea, but in those interviews Boon said that people online will be able to tell that you legitimately completed the challenge tower and got this "awesome" prize. How would they tell that you unlocked the HD Collection? Part of me wants it to be true, but the other part of me is just telling myself not to get too hyped up...

Re: HD Kollection in 2011?

You do know that this isn't an HD version of MK Trilogy, right? They shouldn't even waste their time redoing MKT in HD form.

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

i dont understand how people believe WB will just give you MK HD as an unlockable, get real...you might get ports of the originals...but the collection in HD is a money maker

Re: MK: HD Arcade Kollection IS Real

Yes, that would be an "awesome prize" as Boon describes it, yet I too am very skeptical about it being unlocked after completing the 300th challenge....I guess only time will tell.
