MK HD Kollection

No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

Out of all the interviews with NRS why aren't any questions asked about the kollection?Could NRS be telling them not too ask about the game before each interview to keep it a secret?Could it really be the reward after the end game challenge if so how will some of us access it if we can't beat it because i know if some people see it as a reward there going to be pissed if they can't beat it.

Re: No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

Yes they have been asked, they always say they can't talk about it.

Re: No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

Wasn't it supposedly released like yesterday? 4/1/11?

People Have Been Asking Him on Twitter But He Doesnt Respond Cause He`s Keeping It Secret

Re: No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

I don't think MK HD Kollection isn't going to happen until after MK9 is released.

Re: No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

A new vaporware/urban legend perhaps??

There's nothing confirmed about this release, only rumors.
OK, some stores had it for preorder, but I remember in '97 or so, here in Italy there were retailers claiming to have Duke Nukem Forever IN STOCK!!!

Re: No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

releasing mkhd doesn't even make sense now. was i going to buy it back in november? yes. i went to best buy with $45 bucks in my pocket prepared to buy it. will i buy mk9? absoluetly not, because i don't like it (my personal choice, remember, not hating).

why in the world would you release mkhd (presumably a digitized game) now that mk9 is out? mk9 is the future of the franchise, so why would you release a NEW game that looks and plays so differently than your flagship title? in a lot of ways, the constant re-imagining of mortal kombat has come back to bite both, NRS and the fans of the series.

there is absolutely no through-line in the series, stylistically or gameplay engine wise. basically, the only way that they could release a mkhd "remake" would be to use 3d models, like mk9, not digitized graphics, but that would kind of defeat the whole purpose.

mk existed in bizarro limbo back in the late 90's, when mk4(3d based) and trilogy(digitized) both existed at the same time, but mk4 was different because the game could only make things look (1996 3d game real. like tomb raider and resident evil 3d real). mk4 was kind of a cartoonified mk, whereas, mk9 is really trying to look "real", for all intents and purposes.

May I ask you why? I'm curious to hear a different opinion.

How about I ask you something my friend, why would Capcom release Super Street Fighter II HD Remix? Then release SSF4 afterwords? Because the fans wanted it, and both versions sold very well. I want MKHD and MK9, along with many other MK fans. That is your answer, just becuase they make a new 2.5 version of MK doesnt mean they can't make a new digitized version along with it too.

Re: No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

call me dumb or whatever ya might want to...but what is this HD Kollection y'all are talkin about?

Re: No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

maybe i'll send you a private message, since i have ranted about the "why" for over a year now, and i made a promise to myself and the mk9 fans on here that i wouldn't go into a rage hate over why i don't like mk9.

anyway, as far as street fighter hd remix goes, street fighter has always existed in the realm of animation. so even though 3d animation and 2d animation are different, they're similar enough that moving from one to the other wasn't a jarring or confusing experience. so even though ssf4 and sf2 and all the other sf games are different, you can draw visual links between each game, despite the new look of sf4. for example, ryu looks the same in each game; he moves nearly the same way he did 20 years ago, and only some of his moves have been slightly enhanced.

yes, mk is all about change, but the one thing that always kept the games tied (in spite of costume changes, and run buttons, and dial combos and the removal of fan favorites) together was the digitized look. for me, it would just be a strange juxtaposition to see a digitized mkhd exist alongside mk9, because, if mkhd is even possible, then ultimately you would have to ask the question that i've asked on here before: "what purpose does 3d modeled mk even serve, if mk is back in 2d?" 3d modeled mk made perfect sense when the game was in a 3d environment, but if mkhd can be made well, then why does the mk franchise still need 3d models? so you see, imo, digitized 2d mk and 3d modeled 2d mk kinda cancel each other out. it would make more sense to have two stylistically different games if you had--for example, full 3d mortal kombat with 3d models, and 2d mortal kombat digitized. each game would serve a different function, so i could forgive the visual difference more.

clearly, capcom needs to use 3d models, because i can't even imagine the amount of time it would take to animate sf4 the same way or better than they animated sf3 third strike, and making tweaks to a hand drawn animated game, with a cast of nearly 40 characters, would be insane. this would not be the case for a new 2d digitized mortal kombat game. in order to make adjustments to the game, all you would need is a camera and the actors. the only downside to digitized mortal kombat would be having to deal with an actor's death, an actor's ego, and no elaborate cut-scenes. barring those three things, it really makes no sense for a 2d mortal kombat game to use 3d models.

if mortal kombat hd existed alongside mortal kombat 9, it would be the visual equivalent of street fighter the movie game existing alongside those 2d animated street fighter games, and in that instance, it was just weird.

I agree to an extent. I wish MK9 had 2D digitized characters, but the fact that it's back on a 2-d plane is good enough for me. I haven't enjoyed an MK since UMK3, but I love the MK9 demo. Let's hope one day they return to digitized characters.

Re: No one ever asks netherealm about the HD Kollection?

i dont care if they decided just stylize the originals...like that fan picture of scorpion and shao kahn...that looked perfect for it

Re: MK Arcade Collection in November (?)

That info is more or less correct and the HD Collection is definatley scheduled for later on this year... Wait for the "Official" announcement but this sounds about the right date planned from what I heard to co-incide with a still yet unreleased hardware product in the UK that the USA and Canada have already
