It's all just a form of self-expression In My opinion.
I couldn't explain it because I'm not gay or transgender, but maybe it has something to do with self realization?
People sometimes do believe they were born the wrong gender and they want to change that.
When I was young I couldn't wrap my head around the concept, but all in all it's just how they wanna live I guess.
