Jade Thread - "Good Boy!"

Anyone got any official changes/findings regarding Jade since patch? I gotta play a lil bit of catch up hehe~

None of these are official, but these are what i've found so far:

- Her combos do 1% less damage, I think it's the B2 that might have got the damage nerf but not sure.
- Enhanced Shadow Kick has super armor. Enhanced staff overhead seems to have much more frames of armor as well.

That's not counting the damage nerf she got from the earlier patch where every character's damage got nerfed in general.
 
so uh.. met another Jade online that was good he did some crazy, DB2 into the >2,1,2 then cancelled it into Xray. It was pretty gross. The only reason i didn't break it was because once I saw the >2 I didn't think he'd pop an Xray to finish me off. Good stuff.

Also guys im having trouble with people rushing me down with using jade...

what are some strategies you guys use when dealing with rush downs?
 
Jade has some nice footsies and a good jump kick to deal with rushdown. D3 and 1,2 are fast moves with short range which can stop the opponent's attacks and condition them to block. Against jump ins and crossups, a fast njp is the best counter and leads to a combo.

Shadow Glow is actually her best tool to counter anything up close, including a throw attempt. If you're getting pressured by block strings, you can activate glow between the strings even if they are left at frame advantage and try to frametrap you (like Liu Kang's B3,1,2). But you'd have to have pretty good execution and timing, since you can get blown up hard if you mess up the input/timing. I don't recommend trying this online at all. I would just use her pokes or block and then punish when playing online. Jade can punish moves that seem safe like Sonya and CSZ divekicks with 4,F3 combo. 4,F3 is a great punisher since it's fast and has a deceptively good reach. The only thing is, you can't cancel the last hit of the string and so Jade can't get much more out of it than the 2 hits. It's still very useful in many situations...
 
Prince, We should work on matchup knowledge for Jade together. Like spend a whole day with Jade vs (Probably scorpion first he's the most played). And just test/discuss options/tricks/mindgames then test them out. Then sorta write up a report on our findings.
 
Yes, shadow flash will work against ground saw.

I'd be down for that, that's something I've been thinking about as well myself, since there's definitely very little Jade matchup info online. Let's work on that next time.
 
some stuff I learned about jade.

-The behind throw you have to walk a little bit toward your opponent so your DB2 can reach at max distance. when you throw them forward, You don't have to move at all

-You can connect Down3(useless cuz it does the same % as normal kick), Down 1(does 1% more than kick), or Down4(Extremely harder but does 2% more than kick), after a kick. your kick as to be delayed as long as possible just before you are grounded and you have to immediately dash. This is very impractical online. But offline if you get good at this every % counts.

-I'm sure this is common knowledge but you can also connect a dashing low punch after a shadow kick Mid screen. Useless because it's better to just nail 2 shadow kicks. However in a corner this is gold because you can combo 1,2/1,2/1,2,2 in the corner after your shadow kick(as the first hit.)

-Jades >3,2 combo sets up for the perfect range for DB2(Pressure I mean Not combo)

-Jade's 4,3> Sets up nicely to but it's weird because if you do DB2 immediatley it whiffs even when your opponent is standing. but if you wait a split second longer it will connect.I think it has something to do with cancelling out of your move faster, that you're positioned differently. (Also mean for pressure not combo reasons.)

I'm finding ways to set up Max distance on her DB2

-Nuetral Jump punch(In the air or off the ground) can be combo'd into DB2, and it still pops them up. So you can dash in and do B2, then dash in 1,2 shadow kickx2. Off the ground is strick timing you have to be doing the D,B part as your punch is coming out. then end the DB input with 2 Just as jade is ready to execute.

I was just wondering, does jade's enhanced overhead smash have armour? Because I'm pretty sure I've seen people hit while doing the enhanced one but they continued with the move anyway.
Also, if I have some combo I came up with that I think is really awesome, and everyone agrees is good, can it be edited into the main post?

It does have armor. I don't think it use to. But as of now I'm 100% sure it does. so you can use it as a counter move w/o using her enhanced shadow glow.

so enhanced is faster and has armour. That's really good for when your under pressure
Does shadow flash block Kabal's ground saw?
 
Prince already answered that. Yes it does go through it.

careful using the enhanced overhead special as a get off me move. If they are literally ON you you will whiff because they will attack underneath you as your move makes you jump.
 
Ya enhanced staff overhead didnt have SA frames before I tested it alot to be sure hehe. Welp within a week or 2 i'll update the OP with the changes etc. I noticed the 56% xray combo does 43% now for instance so i'll go back over the old combos and update the new dmg values as well.

Any new/more damaging combos have been discovered after the patches? I was gone for a while without net so I gotta play catch up on top of getting back up to par with Jade again as I've been busy with friends and other things etc hehe~ Thanks everyone for contributing and giving your support. ^-^
 
Take note of shadow kick into 1,2 1,2 1,2,2 the enhanced shadow kick when your opponent throws a projectile Is a free 24% + combo. This is in the corner obviously, really good against subzero if he's chilling in the corner behind his ice clone.

Anyways, if you're exceptionally fast after a shadow kick (mid screen) you can hit 4 and cancel into another shadow kick for 3 hits.

Overhead, dash, B2, dash, 1,2,4, then a couple of shadow kicks. You have to delay 4 ever so slightly.

Something else for shenanigans, over head, ex HIGH boomerang, followed up by another juggle. The ex boomerang will give you two "free" hits without fear of being broken.

Make use of her B1 ability to cancel into specials. A lot of people don't expect it as the normal has a lot of frames. You can catch people with shadow kicks or even better, her overhead.
