Guess which Characters get Storymode Chapters!

How long was Injustice edited into one movie? This might help in predicting the number of chapters.

It seems like Injustice cut scenes edit into one move is around 1 hour and 51 minutes. A bit longer then MK9 which clocks in around 2 hours.

I've got a question for you guys. Normally, there are 4 fights per chapter in NRS games, with only a couple of characters getting 5.

How do you think this will work with the variation system? Will we only get to play one variation per character (unless, for example, they have two chapters)? I ask because I always assumed that we would get to play with at least 2 variations per character, but now that I think about it, that would be pretty terrible gameplay. You'd only have two fights in the entire game per variation? That's like no time to get used to the way a character plays... at all.

We may be able to choose the variation prior to the fight.

Same as ladder mode, I think we are able to choose the variation before the fights start, I don't think we are going to be stucked with one variation until we finish the entire ladder.

My speculation:

Cassie's chapter is early on. The pic below says so. Yes, it's possible that this bit from the trailer is not from story mode, but I doubt the gang would stop by Sub's home and leave without a fight or two. And Cassie's visit to Sub-Zero's hideout is definitely early in the game, since the way they are named off one-by-one makes it seem like this sequence serves as their introduction.
I dont think so. Didnt Boon say the story jumps from like 5, 15, 25 years after MK9? Cassie is at least 20 here. I sure as hell dont think she looks 5 or 15 lol. Unless you meant it was an early chapter in the actual story MODE. Because I remember Boon saying the story will jump around a bit.

I'm still wondering if the 5 and 15-year periods will be flashbacks during the 25-year period. Have they said anything about that?

Pretty sure they said MKX plot starts shortly after MK9, and then has time jumps untill eventually 25 years later.

I guess I need to let go of my hope that MKX's storymode will give me a fantastic gameplay experience the way other single player games do. MK9 certainly didn't, and neither did Injustice. They might tell a good story, and they might whet your appetite for the gameplay online, but there's really not that much gaming to be done in the story, there's no "learning the ins and outs" of the characters, there's no real challenge except for some of the cheap boss fights.

I'm being unreasonable, of course; what MKX offers is still leagues and bounds and galaxies beyond what other fighting games offer. But they give us so much, I want... even more.

Hm. Probably most of the roster I'd say. I think it's for sure going to be Cassie, Kotal, Takeda and Mileena, followed likely by Johnny, Jacqui, Kano, Kung Jin, Kung Lao, Reptile and also Raiden, Scorpion, Sub-Zero and Erron Black, concluding with D'Vorah, Ferra/Torr, Ermac, Jax and Kenshi. With the very last one being Shinnok. So a total of 20 characters/chapters. I think there will be more of this time, because some of those chapters will be shorter. I also think it's only logical for all the new character to have a chapter for them to be properly introduced.

I think the order could be like this: Johnny Cage -> Raiden -> Kung Lao -> Ermac -> Kotal Kahn -> Cassie Cage -> Kenshi -> Scorpion -> Takeda -> Jacqui -> Kano -> Reptile -> Ferra/Torr -> D'Vorah -> Mileena -> Erron Black -> Kung Jin -> Jax -> Sub-Zero -> Shinnok.

It's not out of the realm of possibility for the story to start 25 years in and do flashbacks for years 5, 10, 15, 20. In fact, I heard in an interview that that was the case, but I can't recall the exact source. I also remember hearing the majority of the story takes place in the 25-year mark and the trailer reflects this, which would mean the other time periods are flashbacks.

I think it's going to be much simpler than what people think.

It seems most people are traveling with a group of people. Kotal/Dvorah/FerraTorr/ErronBlack

And Cassie/Kung Jin/Takeda/Jacquie

Although no tag team, there might be a 4v4 system where you basically take turns doing 1v1's. Or you'll be mixing up who you play as.

I think it will be "faction" chapters rather than character chapters.

Reminds me of MK9, that was a pretty fun game!

I hate nothing much more than the MK9 storymode.

so much errors, boring fights, mistreating of the badguys, nonsense fights and boringness that I actually pity anyone who can find the mk9 storyline awesome.

You think playing as the bad guys will mean they're not mistreated anymore? All it'll do is highlight the absurdity of a franchise called "Mortal Kombat" where no one actually dies. At least the good guys have morals or a code, or some bullshit like that, that prevents them from killing the bad guys when they win. How dumb will Quan Chi look when he goes around beating up Raiden, Johnny Cage, Kenshi, and Sonya and doesn't kill any of them just because... what? He forgot? Or maybe he's so sure of his victory, he decides to tell them what his master plan is while they're lying helplessly at his feet?

The point of Mortal Kombat is to have people fight to the death. Neither NRS nor the fans actually want people in the games to fight to the death. Good luck making the bad guys not look like complete idiots.
