Batman: Arkham City

I think Harley looked better in Arkham Asylum.

...and, yeah, The Riddler finally making an actual appearance makes me wet with happiness <3

Robin actually looks awesome in this game and I was never a big fan of Mr. Freeze but, wow, I really like how they did him in this game! Neat voice, too.

It's the weekend, which means playing Batman for most of the day =) Stupid work restricts my weekday play so I am only at the part where you get back in the steel mill and look for Joker and the cure.

On a side note, I ****ing hate using the remote batarang, MY GOD.

This game is the best game to come out yet this year. I've been playing since I got it at the midnight launch. The characters are all great, love catwoman, freeze, riddler and harley. Id say scarecrow too but I can't find him or did I miss the memo about him not being in arkham city? Robin also happens to be a total boss in this game too. Not to mention the part with ra's is totally badass as well. I don't think there's any other game that has come out this year or that's going to come out this year thats better than arkham city.

^ Pretty sure Scarecrow does not appear at all in the game (though the scenes with Ra's al Ghul during the test reminded me of Scarecrow).

He looked INCREDIBLE in Arkham Asylum. Those scenes with him were scary.

It annoys me that he might not be in it. I think it sort of a wasted chance to really expand scarecrows potential in arkham city imo.

There is a scarecrow reference though in a riddle.

Finished the game about an hour ago. Is it just me or is it short? Awesome, but short.

Working on all the side missions now. So fun <3

I'm officially turned off to finishing this game to 100% completion, since I have to beat Catwoman's final story to regain access to Batman's story mode. She doesn't have the resiliency to fight Two-Face and his guards head-on, but Two-Face has an endless supply of henchmen. :/ Catwoman has been the anchor dragging down this game for me.

Scarecrow made me think I broke my brothers Xbox, It freaked me the hell out. I actually turned off the Xbox like 3 times in a row until I realized it was suppose to do that.

Ignore the guards and just go for Two-Face. What I did was hang out on the statues above and then jumped down to the bridge Two-Face is on (the side of the Mammoth's ass) and then hung on the side of the bridge until Two-Face walked over, and then I did a take down. After the take down, I quickly went back up to the statue and jumped from statue to statue until I got to where Two-Face was. I then jumped down, pressed the circle button, and combo'd his ass until he was dead.

It's easier than it sounds but, yeah, ignore the guards, they just keep respawning, so no use in fighting them. Just focus on Two-Face.

I'll have to try this. Thanks for the hint, Jade. :) <3

btw... My first time through.. I'm playing it on Hard... Cuz I'm a boss

One of the things I love about this game is it combines alot of what I liked in other games

silent infiltration/take outs of bad guys. (Metal Gear ect)

Detective work like in Heavy Rain

A pretty simple and easy to pick up combat system. (Great beat em up at times) (The bouncer/ Streets of Rage ect)

you get a sense of RPG elements when you get side quests/missions.

minor puzzle solving (Metroid/RE)

And not to mention it's... BATMAN. I'm just glad a video game was done well for batman.

Nah it seemed short to me too. I don't know if that is because the story and gameplay is so good and keeps you coming back, or it is in fact short.

I thought the game was easier. Like I thought the boss fights in asylum were more challenging. The only one I thought was challenging was the Mr. Freeze fight cuz you had to keep changing tactics. But even just regular fights where you had to be stealthy or what not I didn't think were to difficult either. Maybe I just knew what to expect.

I am all done with the main story, here are some thoughts:

*Main story feels short

*Repetitive locations (interior of buildings) I know the Riddler hostage challenges takes place in their own building but creating a few extra rooms for those dont really count, I am not a fan of going back to the exact same location when there are XXXX amount of building's just sitting there doing nothing.

*Everything after Wonder Tower, I didnt like how that all played out, the last fight (who it was against), the ending, the last location of the last part of the fight.

*AR missions are too generic, they missed an oportunity to make this more on the creative side instead of making them all flying.

*Too many Riddler Challenges around, having so many of them for me takes away from the game although I can appreciate the thugs mentioning them over the radio. Putting in 400 is too many.

*Catwomen sequences were cool but uneeded filler. The whole Ivy sequence was a wasted opportunity.

*Side missions are fun although I have 360 out of 400 challenges done and still cant do the last Riddler Conundrum mission is a bit frustrating. I didnt intend on collecting all 400 in this game.

*Gadget variety is not a great as i would have liked.

*The Tyger area surrounding Wonder Tower is not accessable, unfortunate wasted oppertunity.

*NRS staff worked on the engine was a nice suprise and a cool read when the credits rolled.

Enjoyed the combat again and the new combo upgrades, wish there were more Predator rooms to offset all the "open world" fighting. The game started out great and feels like they ran out of ideas (or just time) as the game progressed. Still one of the better games I have played this year, doesnt progress as much from the first one as I thought it would have.

*Opportunity

Sorry, it was just bugging the hell out of me, lol.

Anyways, the amount of Riddler trophies is insane...I don't know how many I have but I have been working on them forever....I have about half the map cleared, but it is just a ridiculous amount to have in the game....I also agree fully with your points about returning to areas. I lost count of how many damn times I have had to be in or around the Steel Mill to get something and the Tyger facility is sooooo in the way and I hate having to go 400 miles out just to get around it when I could just cut across to get to the other side.

Also, my god, to get the 'pay your respects' trophy....DOES IT SPIN LONG ENOUGH?

Hey Jade, thanks to your advice I was able to get Two-Face yesterday.

I agree with some feelings about the game. The story still seemed short. But, that said, I bet all of us played the game for a lot longer than we would care to admit, so that may only be a perception. It took me longer to finish the main story in Asylum, but I also played it less frequently and for shorter stints. Pretty much every game I've enjoyed a lot that wasn't an RPG, I've felt was too short. You get easily engrossed in the story and time really does fly.

I do think the puzzles are harder and more involved though, which is cool. I do think the AR training was something of a snooze though, but I wish that I'd completed the first four sooner, as the boost grapnel is really, really useful. I also agree that the choice for the final boss was weak, but the battle was fun and looked absolutely great. My fiancee commented though that Batman using Al-Ghul's sword was out of character for Batman, but I disagreed with that.

Also, I kind of wish that now with the main story over, I could get a new, untattered and fresh Batsuit for the main skin. I'm using the BTAS skin to complete the side-missions because Batman's Arkham City suit is all f*cked up.

I strongly disagree with reviews that have said that 'Catwoman stole the show'. Granted, I've never liked Catwoman/Selena Kyle as a character (I think she's the most one-dimensional character in the franchise practically), but I think she's kind of useless. She's weak, her moves aren't as varied as Batman, and she isn't nearly as stealthy. Maybe I haven't upgraded her enough, but I don't know. I might not download her upcoming 4 extra missions because I disliked her gameplay so much. Too much focus on making her sexy, not enough on making her effective. Her Thief Vision also gives me headaches.

Despite all this, I'm still blown away with the game, and it still holds a lot of replay value to me, and I will be obsessed with trying for the Platinum Trophy for it.
