Baraka Thread - *Ching Ching* "RAAAAAR!"

Baraka is beast now.

From what I've learned he STILL has his b3,1 trap.

He now has a Kitana like D1

His ex d,f 2 has juggle properties. Add a ex blade charge and you do 24% damage.

His ex blade charge goes full screen now.

Raaaaaargh!
 
OFFICIAL patch notes:

• Adjusted the air reaction to the chop chop blades to allow for juggle opportunities afterwards
• Baraka's Blade Spin move starts up faster and is safer when blocked.
• Baraka's Enhanced Blade Charge (Blade Rush) attack goes farther now.
• Baraka’s Chop Chop no longer auto corrects mid-move.
• Baraka’s Away Front Kick, Front Punch combo is now a true popup.
• Increased the damage of some of Baraka’s special moves and attacks.
• It is easier to juggle combo after hitting someone with Baraka’s chopchop on the ground.

New post patch combos:

Corner: 2,2,1+2 B+3,1 B+3,1 B+1,1 chop chop- 40%

Corner: 2,2, 1+2 B+3,1 B+3,1 B+1,1 EX spin: 42%

Midscreen: 2,2, 1+2 1 X-ray: 39%

My highest combo is still Bjp, 2,2,1+2 B+3,1 B+3,1 B+1,1 X-ray for 51% damage.

His D+1 is now incredibly fast

EX blade charge is INSANE(goes fullscreen)

Spin is safer on block(making it best anti air)
 
Question: Why isn't Baraka's spin like Kung Lao's spin?

why does baraka's spin suck so much? I dont know either.

But I dont want baraka to be comparable to Kung lao anyway. I dont think it should knock you into the ****ing sky and make you slowly float down awaiting a combo like kung lao's does to people. That would be cheap. But I think Baraka's spin needs more range
 
Barakas spin doesn't suck.

It beats most teleports, it's fast, and beats most air attacks. It's also a great combo finisher.

Go back to Derp Lao if you're not satisfied.

EDIT: Baraka seems mostly unchanged (in how I use him) beside the EX Blade charge. Oh, but but his EX df, 1 is great...you can add a blade charge on the end of that now, and it has good juggle opportunities in the corner.

blade charge was always possible after EXdf1, but with dash.

I had a feeling his regular pokes with the exception of the d1 and d3 were relatively slow.

His spin is fast, but I didn't realise it was THAT fast!
 
Baraka has a ton of little moves.
B3, B1, B2, F2...etctera.. i'd be interested to see frame data for those.
 
Vs. Sektor
Spoiler:
First thing most Sektor players do is missile spam. Simply duck block and do a couple of well placed blade charges, or if you have meter EX charge into his face. The one thing you have to remember is if you get hit by the regular missile the up missile will hit as well, so be careful of this. Once you get in close he will use flamethrower, try and bait this and punish with a blade charge. Remember that he can teleport from ANYWHERE, so dont fall for his fake jump ins into Teleport Uppercut. If he does a wrong TU, its a free combo for you. If he tries to do his U+3,3 or 4 just d+4 or D+1 to stop him in his tracks. His launcher is unsafe and your frame traps will get him. Be aware of EX TU on wakeup, it might stop your corner pressure. The key is to get in close, bait his specials, and punish accordingly


Vs. Rain

First and foremost: DO NOT JUMP IN AGAINST RAIN! Thats a free 40% combo waiting to happen. You have to be smart. A popular tactic with rain is to do 1,2 RH cancel 1,2 RH cancel. A d+1 will stop this quickly, however you have to watch out if he has meter. An EX Roundhouse will go through your D+1, always be on the lookout for this. If Rain manages to get you in a bubble, HOLD DOWN BLOCK! Seriously, 75% of the time Rain's moves will not be able to hit before you hit the ground. This will throw them off their game and allow you to continue pressure. Once you get rain in the corner, let the corner combos fly. Use blade dash's with discretion because of EX RH. Just remember to not jump in and you will have a good match.

better than burning 3 meters for only 4%
