Scorpion/Sub-Zero since it goes back to the beginning of the franchise, Raiden has taken prominence in the later games.
 
Pretty much... I think Scorpion and Sub-Zero are the face of Mortal Kombat, and behind them (not so close) are Liu Kang and Raiden.

But I think the word "Ninja" is important in the MK franchise.

IMO.
 
Scorpion definitely,and sub-zero comes close.Something like ryu and ken on sf franchise.Raiden has taken a back seat(i need his mk1 costume...)in the last games
