MK HD Kollection

Re: MK Arcade Kollection in December?

It would be better if the HD Kollection would be a downlaodable game for PSN and Xbox Live.

Re: MK Arcade Kollection in December?

At this point, I think we should hold off on all complaints, speculation, threads, etc. until we see some concrete evidence that this game is officially being released. Its clear that theyre using MK9 as a front to revive the series. The release of MK HD will depend on the success of MK9. Lets just stick with MK9's progress until its release, its reception and reaction, and then start up with the HD kollection again.

Great post, couldn't have said it better. Until we have that concrete evidence, I'm treating the game as cancelled. MK9 is enough excitement for me now, and will be for a long time to come.

What would you like to see out of the HD Arcade Kollection??

Hey guys I thought I'd post what I hope ends up in the final build of the HD Kollection and I hope others will post what they would like to see out of the game as well :)

1. (Obviously) Brand new actors rerecorded in full 1080p running at 60fps.

2. Improved gameplay for MK1. I would love to see them take the engine from MK 2 and apply the new HD assests from MK1 into it. I think it would be cool to play MK 1 in HD but have it perform as fast as MK 2.

3. If there are any completely glaring gameplay issues in any of the games it'd be cool if they could balance and modify them.

4. Overhaul the way UMK 3 selects the stages. I hated the fact that you only saw a handful of stages when playing UMK 3 in the arcades. They should also bring back the stages that were cut out from MK 3 to make room for the new ones in UMK 3. When I play UMK 3 HD I want to see all the stages from MK 3 and UMK 3 represented in glorious HD!

5. Re-modeled gib parts for exploding Fatalities from MK 2 and 3. I really hope they redraw the gibs from MK 2 making them even more brutal than they did at the time. For UMK 3 I hope they completely overhaul the skeleton gibs adding in guts (ala MK 2) instead of just bones and of course get ride of the 6 skulls, rib cages etc... They should have skeletal parts but if they want a ton of pieces onscreen, they should fill it up with chunks of skin and guts instead of cloning ribs and etc...

6. Fix Reptiles health bar in MK 1 so it does not read "Scorpion" like in the original.

7. An option for the high rollers among us (not me). The ability to run the games in stereoscopic 3D. It would be a cool feature if they could support it.

8. Surprise the hell out of us all and put a true, 100% arcade port of Mortal Kombat 4 with HD assets (trust me I know this is super wishful thinking on my part).

That's it for now. Some other stuff may pop into my head but that's all I got at the moment. What about you all??

Re: What would you like to see out of the HD Arcade Kollection??

What would I like to see out of the HD Arcade Kollection?? .... HOW ABOUT SOME DAMN SCREENSHOTS???

The fact that this crap has been beaten to death since late July / Early August, and we SILL have nothing, is utter Bull****!

Re: What would you like to see out of the HD Arcade Kollection??

The original games run at 60fps, so that's a non-issue.

I would love seeing the fatalities tweaked to be more detailed and less ridiculous or entirely new, especially the ones in UMK3. New sounds are a must for MK1 but the sounds in MKII and UMK3 are fine. I especially want Kahn's voice to remain the same. New music would be a plus. I'd also like for all of the stages to be available for all three games, but that's not a must.

I don't want the game engines messed with at all for MKII and UMK3. Would be sweet to have the Turbo Ninja engine as an option for MK1, tho.

I forgot about the Turbo Ninja version of MK 1 though. I think I would prefer that, over utilizing the MK II engine. Honestly I don't care how they do it, I just would like the HD version of MK 1 to be as fast as MK II so it doesn't appear archaic when compared to MK II and UMK 3.

Also, very few games can actually run at a native 1080p resolution at 60fps so that's why I put it up there because there is no guarantee the MK HD Kollection will be able to run natively at 1080p and keep the locked 60fps. Most games run at a lower resolution and upscale to 1080p so that's why I'm hoping to see the Kollection in native 1080p at 60fps. It would look disgustingly awesome!

Re: What would you like to see out of the HD Arcade Kollection??

I feel like we've had a thread similar to this before. Instead of re-writing whatever I wrote before, I'll just say this: I hope they stay true to the originals, but fix any bugs along with some minor tweaks here and there. Also, regarding the old Shao Kahn voice, I hope they either simply use all old audio or, if they choose to record new voices.... at the very least... bring back Steve Ritchie! As long as they have Steve Ritchie as Kahn, Boon as Scorpion and Dan Forden to say "TOASTY!", I'll be pleased.

Totally true... I recall back in the day, in those glorious days, one of the things that put my hair stand on end was the sound of MK2.. Music, Shao Khan voice, grunts and screams and overall sound efects. I just hope they bring back Steve Ritchie too.

And of course, what I would like to see from the HD Kollection is.. an official confirmation of its existence!!! not some guy's resume.

Cheers!

Re: What would you like to see out of the HD Arcade Kollection??

Whatever the HD versions will be, so be it. i'll post later what I want, but include the Classic versions, with netplay too.

and for XBLA.

I feel like we've had a thread similar to this before.

You're correct, I made one a while back called 'Your Opinions'.

Anyway, for this thread I'll just say that I hope they stick as closely to the originals as possible. Don't *change* anything, because even those ridiculous elements have their charm and are a source of nostalgia.

As far as 'fixing' gameplay aspects, it was something I brought up before, and I believe that it should also be left untouched; those fixes may have more impact on the gameplay than intended. With that said, they could implement 'HD' and 'Classic' modes to solve this problem.

I would like to see additions to these games though; more secrets, unlockables, easter eggs. Not necessary but something I would welcome.

i'm looking forward to seeing what they do for audio. i'd be psyched to hear any of the music from MK1 revisited.

I'd like them to redo the music identically, so we have simply a higher quality version of it. And as strange as it sounds, I think they should keep the original sound clips for characters, if they are unable to replicate them with believable impersonations.

PM a mod and have them merge these threads together.

While I agree with keeping SOME things the same, this is obviously not the originals, and thats ok. Use this chance to fix issues, such as.....

Again, i hope that the classics are included with this release, and that all 7 versions are included (I am including 1 version of the MK4 Rv3.0 arcade too haha)

Re: What would you like to see out of the HD Arcade Kollection??

And a "remixed" set of audio tracks. Same stuff, just 2011-afied.

Re: Your Opinions

this game is gonna be awesome. I'm really looking forward to the story mode, it looks awesome from the little clips we've seen in vignettes. after all of the stuff they have already showed or leaked this is gonna be the biggest selling point for me. the action looks top notch and the king of the hill feature sounds awesome. i just hope I can progress up the damn thing with out finding my score in the negative digits haha. some o them dudes are hard core, I don't know if I should be amazed at their skill, or disgusted by the fact that they never do anything else. can u imagine what their rooms must smell like? can you say " B.O. and Fritos" hahaaa! yeah can't wait.

Um.... what?

I assume you're responsible for merging this thread, so thanks for that.
I agree that this is not the originals, but it is still my preference to have options, such as:
- an option between new (2011-afied) and original (untouched) audio.
- an option between 'fixed' and original gameplay
- additionally, an option for regular MK1 speed (rev 5?) or Turbo Ninja. Perhaps Turbo as the default to keep speed more consistent across the board.

Such options would be easy to implement IMO, and provide for fans who only desire a visual upgrade; the game can have updated components enabled by default, and whoever doesn't find them appealing can always switch to their original counterparts. A simple settings menu could house these options.
