You don't understand the point of Guest characters. It's a quick cash in to make money. Don't believe me? Ask Ames who said he only bought MK9 because Kratos was in it. He then later on to become a great Sektor player that taught me, Lord SekSek himself, about the anti wakeup missile setup.
It would have been much harder to advertise a guest character who wasn't available from the start.
I understand the business aspect of guest characters, but I don't agree with it.
There's a BIG difference between the 2.
Just because I don't agree with it, doesn't mean that I don't understand it.
Don't assume.
As a Kyrpt unlockable, the people that want the guest character on main roster can have it, and the people who don't want it on the main roster can also have that option.
When MK9 first came out, I could fight against someone who had already unlocked Quan Chi and CSZ already or who already unlocked alternate costumes (even though I didn't yet at the time), because those characters and costumes were already on the disc to begin with.
That's my point.
It's the best of both worlds, and you can choose to use that character if you want or not, without hindering someone else's choice.
Also people would have flocked to MK9, regardless of guest characters, given that MK9 was a reboot of the entire MK1 thru UMK3 era
(the era of MK that MOST fans and casuals alike tend to favor).
MK9 sold 4 million copies of
ALL console versions combined, meaning that there were TONS of people who also played it on Xbox and flocked to the game.
