What character surprised/disappointed you?

Kotal is pretty much my after release Ferra/Torr. I thought Ferra/Torr was gonna be a useless, slow character. Thurns out they're great (OP in fact) and Kotal is what I described earlier.

Liu Kang is a freaking beast in this game flame fist variation can meter burn up to 45% or so it's insane and the combo into x-ray does about 49%.

Completed the arcade tower with Ferr/Torr this morning. Actually liked their specials in the vicious variation. I know literally 0 decent combos but it has encouraged me to learn them after disliking their play at first.

Still on Raiden as main.

Been trying to train with someone to be second spot.

Played a lot with Shinnok, he is currently the second, but still not completely secure as I am with Raiden.

While Raiden I complete Living Towers with ease, Shinnok I still don't have the same ease. Must train harder!

Trained with Mileena (yes, myself), liked her, and trained with Liu Kang (thank Elder Gods got the Dark Emperor), he is completely beast on this game, as I imagined, since he was one of the most difficult characters to me on Story Mode.

Sonya, Sub and Scorpion still on dispute to take Shinnok down!

Sub-Zero is always my favorite by default but I find myself maining Kenshi and Liu Kang. I'm no where near tournament status so it was a proud moment to get a 50% damage combo with Kenshi. Liu Kang's speed and zone dominance in his Dragon Fire variation makes it my favorite. This game really made me get in to "champ champ".

Yellow Ledbetter Emperor Liu Kang is awesome! I'm loving the amount of diverse skins most characters have. Definitley makes it fun each time.
I recently unlocked Revenant Liu Kang after 25 ranked wins. I used a ps+ two day trial specifically to try for him. Didn't get much time the first day to try so the second night I had no mercy on my ranked fights. I feel kind of bad for how cheap I beat them but I was pressed for time  Another awesome skin!

I don't know what I was expecting with Kotal Kahn since all the gameplay was there in my face for months but once I figured him out, he's one of very few that I like to play multiple variations with, Sun God and War God.
At first I thought him being somewhat tanky and not so combo friendly was a bad thing till I realized how he was intended to be used. That made every way more enjoyable and easy. Glad he turned out as cool as I hoped, afterall.

Erron Black kind of disappointed me at first but that was day 1 when I was overwhelmed with the game and what to do next. Didn't have the patience to learn him when there was some much to do. Glad I checked him out later because he's a very cool character. Definitley not my best but I still have a lot to learn with him.

Overall, no character has been disappointing. Just haven't gotten around to learning everyone I'm interested in yet. There's just so many and I want to catch, I mean, master them all.

Shujinko was the biggest disappointment for me. Went from the protag in Deception to being molliwhopped by Cassie Cage. Idk if that ending is canon, I hope not, but it probably is.

Yeah he isn't in the story but he is in Cassie's ending.

I was surprised by Jacqui.. I thought she would've been a female clone of her Dad.

I'm extremely disappointed with Johnny Cage. He played much better in MK9.

Kotal is as much of a disappointment (to me) as MK9 Sub-Zero was.
MKX Sub-Zero really surprised me with Grandmaster and Cryomancer.
It's nice to have an offensive Sub-Zero, for once, as well a a defensive Sub-Zero with so many different options for using the ice clone.
Ronin Takeda also surprised me, in a good way.

Good surprises:
Sub-Zero - finally an offencive version
Goro - great moveset, he is as good as he was in MK4
Kano - one of the best characters for casual play - easy combos, quick specials

Bad surprises:
Kotal Kahn - why he is so f'n slow
Reptile - with all the moves he had since debut, his 3 styles differences are minimal, even Liu Kang and Sonya are more diverse

Kotal was the most disappointing to me because I wanted his sun beam to be an actual beam, not a cancer ray.

Kenshi, Jax, Lui Kang, and Jason are the most surprising to me. Jason surprised me because I though he would stand out, but imo he literally fits in very well into MKX to the point where I'd like him to be a regular kombatant in future installments. With Kenshi, Lui Kang, and Jax, I felt they sucked in MK9 and they felt slow. However, in MKX they play pretty fast and fluidly. Lui Kang and Kenshi are two of my top 5 most played characters in MKX so far.

Guests are fine as DLC or for 1 game, but no guest should ever be permanently on the roster, imo.
I'd rather have MK characters taking up main roster slots.
The way that NRS did it for MKX was perfect, to me.

It's absolutely obscene how well Predator fits into the MK universe. Have you seen the Outworld monsters? Pred probably has a beach house out there. I think he deserves a place on the roster.

I've been saying that for years. He's an alien from a clan of nomadic hunters, who go across the galaxy looking for worthy prey. How does that not fit in to Mortal Kombat where people fight for sport, honor, greed, protection etc. Its about time its happened.

I also love Leatherface. He's a mentally retarded pyscho who'se abused and raised by his family to butcher. He wears his opponents face's and has an identity crisis (dresses like women sometimes). Doesn't really fit in MK as much. He's too much on the realistic side being based off a real life serial killer, Ed Gein. But I'm not complaining. I can't wait to see how they try to fit him in to the series. I'll enjoy it regardless and there will be a lot of salty tears falling around me

Just because he fits, doesn't mean I want to see him on the main roster for ongoing games.
As much as I don't care for the Xenomorph, he also fits well with the MK universe too, but I don't think a guest should take a main roster spot in every MK game.
MKX did it right, imo.
Save the main roster spots for the MK characters, and put guests as DLC.
They know that guests will make them a ton of money as separate sales, anyways, where that may not always be the case with certain MK characters that they want to bring back / give another shot.
Shinnok and some of the other MK characters (that aren't either the big 4 or the MKII characters that we got) would have likely sold terribly as DLC.
Tri-Borg will likely sell well because people wanted the cyborgs, and now they are in.
The MK11 main roster should be reserved for characters like Ferra / Torr, Erron Black, Fujin, Reiko, Havik and some of the other characters that could be either hit or miss as DLC.
I'd LOVE to see Fujin, regardless of being a guest or not as do lots of others, but he may not be as big of a DLC seller as a guaranteed guest sales characters, which should be reserved for DLC, imo.

I will admit that Preadtor and Alien are the two guest characters who actually make sense in the MK universe (despite my lack of interest in guests). More so than any of the others.

Jason and Leatherface, though..... Eh. A cannibalistic redneck from the middle of no where as no place in these events.

You could compare Torr to Leatherface (same with Jason in that matter). They're both like an Earthrealm counterpart to Torr, am I right?

I'd like to see how he's worked in to the story though. Predator and Alien are a given, I agree. Jason works well, being Emperor Liu Kang's lackey. Its simple and it works fine. It is an idea barrowed from Freddy vs Jason.

Torr and Leatherface are only similar in that they are really really dumb. But that's about it. And even so, Torr was only involved as a lackey/bodyguard to Kotal.

Who the hell is going to travel down into the deep south to find a nutty redneck to hire as a bodyguard? lol I honestly can't see how they could add Leatherface in a way that isn't forced and silly. But it is what it is.

And Jason so didn't work well. lol The only horror characters that have been incorporated well are Predator, Freddy and most likely Alien. And when I say Freddy, I am reaching a bit.
