Western Black Rhino declared extinct

RIP. It seems like only the gangster animals go extinct.

We better appreciate the other endangered species while they're still here. They'll be gone before you know it.

The future generation of chirrens won't have these OG animals, they'll be stuck with a bunch of lame ones.

well dude, no offence but no one ACTUALLY cares about this shit except for activists and whatnot. last time I checked no one does anything to actually save animals threatened to be extinct soon. I too can go like 'awh mah gawd de rhino is extinct, those cruel humans' but it's actions that matter, not words. too many people claim to care about the planet, the animals and so on and that's all talk, when it comes to actions they either don't do anything about it or even act against it in their daily lives

No one actually cares? They'll start to care when they're wondering where all the tigers, rhinos and elephants went. Why the only the place the can see Pandas, polar bears or pygmy hippos are locked up in a zoo.

How can anyone do anything when the problem is hundreds of miles away? Best thing we can do is raise enough awareness to pressure the country's officials to better protect the animals and prevent poaching.

As technological advances show milestones in our kind's progress, I think the loss of AN ENTIRE SPECIES sets us back. It shows our lack of control. This shit is sad

The fuck do you want people to do? Travel to Africa and such and bring all the endangered animals to safety themselves??? Or do you want them to murder all the poachers? Because laws ARE in place and protests ARE made. What else would you suggest we do?

And yes, people do in fact care about rugged animal pimps like Rhinos

there are activist organizations that actually do care and act on such things, people can donate. protests, awareness and all that doesn't do anything. also, yes, they SHOULD travel to africa if they can afford it and care and help organizations with actions. distance isn't an excuse and I will repeat again no one ACTUALLY cares. it's all talk and zero actions. I can 'care' like that too.

How many people do you think actually can afford to fund their own gotdamn trip to Africa? And then when they get there what do you want them to do?????????????? Go into the plains and jungles and wrangle up all these animals themselves?

I'd also like to feed starving children across the globe but I can't really do that, can I? Doesn't mean I don't care

there are organizations for starving children as well. if you and anyone else ACTUALLY cares they would spare what they can to contribute. all talk and no actions isn't caring no matter how hard you try to make it so.

Who in the hell has Africa money around here?

Your ideas are completely irrational. "Go over there and help!" Help with what? You think anybody is going to stop a poacher with a sign? If a man is heartless enough to bring genocide to an entire species, he sure as shit isn't going to care about one human life.

When you want to pay the funds for me to go over there, and supply everything for me, then I'll go over there and try to help. Until then, you have no ground to stand on. People do ACTUALLY care, you seem to think that flying to Africa is just a trip down the street and it's not. Like NS said, what are we supposed to do when we get there? Disregarding they were on the verge of extinction anyways, if they weren't, we'd have to look all over for them and I don't think you realize how fast you can get lost in jungles and such over there and especially how dangerous some of the life is over there. It's not like the majority of the people don't want to help, it's that we CAN'T.

I've made it very clear awhile ago that I don't give 2 shits about the human race. No matter where you're from. As for animals? I actually would like to help. But once you start to fund our trip, you have absolutely no say in this just because YOU don't care, doesn't mean everyone doesn't care.

there's a thing, they call it a bank I think. you can get the currency of any country in exchange of the amount of dollars in your case. there are countless organizations to donate to that are actually where those problems are and any donation is helpful. your blah blah about it isn't doing anything

It takes a lot more than donating pocket change to stop the genocide of an entire species

At the end of the day, going to Africa to help thwart the possibility of an animal species becoming extinct is simply beyond our means. You might have had a point if we actually lived in Africa ourselves, but we don't, and there's only so much we can do when we're oceans apart.

Does that mean we don't care? Definitely not. While endangered species is a sad issue, it isn't the only concern in the world to have, especially since we're all everyday people with our own lives to lead. It's not always convenient or easy for everyone to invest their time and effort into something where our) involvement will only have minimal if any effect on the outcome, whether they care or not (which arguably would be the case with something like protesting).

Taking action on an issue would usually mean that you have concern for that issue, yeah, but that doesn't mean that the reverse has to be true

Conservation of the flora and fauna is never quite that simple. Loggers in Thailand are not going to stop cutting down trees because their livelihood is at stake. Unless provided alternatives to make a living, they are not going change their ways. Although laws against poaching are there, in practice the rewards for poaching far outweigh the risks. The market price of ivory tusks of elephants are much greater than the fines imposed for being caught. Sometimes even rangers who are supposed to stop such criminals poach themselves, especially when they are not paid very well in the first place.
