Don't get the JVM410H! Get the JVM205H instead (or the 210H if you really need 100w, which you really don't), trust me on this one. I've played through about 10 or so of each when I was a dealer. The 205H sounds consistently better, and costs $600 less. As far as EMGs go, have you tried the X series? They're sort of like the SD Blackouts in that they're supposed to sound more like passives while still having the bite/output of active pups.

My last V-styled guitar had 2 81s...I discovered that I really, really hate the 81 in the neck position and was aching for an 85 or 89 in there.

I never tried the EMG X-series, but I probably will down the road. As for pickup combinations, I have an 81 in the bridge and an 85 in the neck on my BC Rich Warlock, although I am curious as to what an 81/60 combo would sound like.

And thanks for your advice on the JVM series. Truth be told, I've been lusting over a Marshall stack since I first picked up a guitar.

Marshalls are OK. I've really yet to play one that made me actually want to spend money on one. The best 'Marshalls' I've ever played were smaller brand, handmade clones like Splawn and Ceriatone. Actually, the Splawns are a great deal, because unlike Ceriatone and Dave Friedman, Splawns are around the same price point, better made, and sound better. I owned a Splawn Quick Rod for a long time (it had a JTM45 and hot-rod JCM800 circuit combo in it between its two channels), and it did pretty much every great Marshall sound, and then some.

The top two are stupidly expensive up-scalers made specifically for old-school consoles so they look awesome on an HDTV. The third one's a Saturn Action Replay 5 in 1 cart that works as a region bypass, cheat device, memory backup, and 1MB/4MB RAM cart for some SNK and Capcom stuff.

And yeah, last one's a Saturn mod-chip. For like, you know, "research" and stuff.

Well, since posting the rifle I was strongly (and still am sort of) considering at the top of this thread, I think I might be moving to a better deal overall. Bolt-action, and I can get it customized whichever way I like, though I'll have to wait like 4 months from order date to get it. But, I figure if I'm going to have to spend ~$2500ish either way, I might as well get something tailored to me.

Customized Remington 700 bolt-action precision marksmanship/hunting rifle in .308 winchester

It'll be sort of like that, but not exactly. A few different tidbits here and there, different scope, different bolt handle, anodizing the barrel to match the stock/furniture, threading it + adding a muzzle brake. But, the same rifle overall, and the same Mk2A adjustable stock and tan/flat earth finishing. I'm kinda stoked.
