Super Smash Bros

It looks like the adapter and the GC controller both have wires.
Unless you're talking about the adapter having the advantage of reading inputs quicker than a wireless controller. Then idk

what I mean is right now Wii U has no wired controllers. Wireless is unacceptable in a tournament. Frequencies and syncs can mess up tourney matches.

I'm hoping the signal for the inputs is sent through the wire into the Wii U.

And hoping that USB to the Wii U isn't ONLY for power.

Regardless if the game can be played at tournaments, I can now buy cheaper GOOD game cube controllers for melee as well.

I have faith that Nintendo is fully aware of the possible tournament scene for SSB4 and they will definitely have something out to cater towards those kinds of people.

Thank you Based Nintendo

I wonder if they'll patch in support for Mario Kart 8

haha @ the porn music.

this is amazing news. I remember I bought a another 3rd party pro controller that looked a little more like the cube one and was all analyzing how it would play on smash, looks like I don't need that anymore!

I'd love to see the cube controllers be another alternative to the pro ones for any game, but i'm not sure if they share the right buttons, idk I hope it could work.

It would work for simpler games like Mario Kart and Mario 3d World. But in a game like Mass Effect 3 that uses all of the shoulder buttons I imagine it wouldn't be possible.

Gamecube controller support definitely got me hype, don't really have much to say about that other than it's awesome on Nintendo's part.

I didn't even know Mass Effect was on WiiU  Does Garrus get a Yoshi alt?

@Critical Limit

It shows the adapter has 2 usb plugs.
People are assuming one is for power and one is for data. So wired connection MAY be confirmed.

not gonna lie, I watched that invitational tournament. While it's nice of nintendo to do that.

That game looks like garbage to me. At least from a depth stand point.

I saw almost ZERO combos, because hit-stun is still barely existent in this game, No one could follow up their hits. They air-dodged out of all the combos for free.

Defense is too strong, Like I said before Melee is barely fast enough to make rush down viable. Rush down is NOT viable in Smash 4. Good players are just going to camp the crap out of you and make you approach/whiff moves then punish.

I learned a lot from this invitational tournament. Sadly not a reason enough for me to purchase a Wii-U.

And I'm not a Melee purist. I just want a fast smash, with hitstun, and mobility.

This is some info so far.

Found this on the meleeitonme website. Pretty much says, anything you wish you could do in this game no longer exists.

Old Melee

L-Cancel – doesn’t seem to be in
Wavedashing – Definitely no
Shield Drop – Yes
Short Hop – Yes

Old Brawl Techniques
Run–> Turnaround is doable
DACUS – No one could do it
Glide tossing – None
Laser Lock – similar to Falco Laser lock, We managed it with Pikachu

Edge Mechanics
- Invulnerability depends on a combination of:
o %
o Air Time
o Distance recovered
- No Edgehogging
o If you hold ledge, and someone else wants it after, you get kicked off
After kickoff, lag before you can do an action
- Brawl Ledge grab -> Run, turnaround grab ledge
- Ledge regrab doesn’t give invulnerability
- Run off stage somersault/tumble motion XX(cancellable) into action
- Run off stage grab edge in tumble (only certain characters)

Throwing
- Delay after throwing someone. Really hard to follow up
- No grab release infinites
- Mashing is doable *Unconfirmed*

Dashing
- Dash dancing is impossible
- Crouching to cancel dashing is impossible
- Pivot tilts are easy. Foxtrot is possible (F-Smash out of fox trot).
- Pivot F-smash is also doable
- Dashing is really questionable in this game
- U-Smash out of dash really easy (Flick C-stick)
- Standing grab out of full dash (shield+A, or shield + up cstick)

Spike
- Really Strong,

Crouch Cancel
- None

Shields
- No lightshielding
- Tilt shield is available

Out of Shield
- U-Smash out of shield very doable (Tested with Fox, same input as Melee)
- Shield grab available

Spot Dodge
- Really solid option

Air Dodge
- Multiple in one jump
- Air dodge land = massive lag
Meteor Cancel
- Meteor cancel is available, seems difficult to execute (TV lag?)
Techs
- Buffer wall techs
DI
- Smash DI is not in (Tested with smart bombs) or significantly less than Melee? More testing needed
- DI is somewhat noticeable

Camera
- Doesn’t scale that well with people on edges/off-stage very well
-

Controls
- ¬Charge C-Stick smash attack charges

Character Specific
Mario (PewPewU)
- Fairly intuitive, similar to Melee/Brawl Mario
- Two aerials in one short hop
- Brawl D-Air
- Fair has two hit boxes (spike, non spike)

Fox (PPMD)
- Lag after shine
- No brawl cancel shine
- Short Hop laser = lag on land
- Up-Smash is nerfed (People lived at 110%, hitbox is smaller)
- Brawl Bair, Brawl Fair
- Brawl D-Throw
- Up+B is still great (Melee NTSC levels)

Marth
- Auto cancel BAIR is really good
- No short hop 2x FAIR
- Sluggish compared to Melee
Little Mac
- Super armor
Pikachu
- Quick Attack has massive lag on landing (Not sure if you can )

N1gga be hella butthurt. :lamo:

I played the game last Wednesday at best buy, totally not worth standing in line for 3 hours. There was only one station set up, and soo many people there. Also the people in line were annoying. And like 10 minutes before I got to play, they announced they were cutting the play time from two 2 minute matches to just one match to hurry the line up. So yeah that sucked. And when I finally got to play it was pro controllers cause I don't think the gamecube adapters are ready, and that controller is terrible for smash bros, it was so bad. I wanted to test for myself how the mechanics are but I was too distracted by the shit controller that it didn't even matter. Also it was just 2 minutes with high items on so that didn't help either. So yeah it was dumb. I panicked and chose Samus for some reason, I shoulda chose a newcomer haha.
