SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Yeah, everything seems fine, but this supposed Kenshi vs Reiko fight still remains a mystery (though it's not contradicting the events) and I got the feeling that we won't learn anything more about it, thus making it irrelevant and not important at all, even non-existent.

Only reason I care about the fight is that's literally the only time in alternate MK history that Reiko and Jax are known to have existed on the same planet. And even then, not really, because the fight with Reiko happens after Jax and Sonya leave.

I just hate how Reiko and Jax's dialogue was so ambiguously non-mysterious. There wasn't a "tune in next time to find out how these two met!" cliffhanger. We could get an explanation or we could not get an explanation. That in itself bugs me.

Where is this stuff about a supposed Kenshi vs Reiko fight coming from?

MK9 easter egg, during one of the scenes set in the Coliseum during MK2, an announcer states that the next fight will be Reiko vs Kenshi and then the scene cuts away to somewhere else before we see them.

Shang Tsung, to be more precise.

It was at the end of Sub-Zero's chapter, after he is taken to become that thing.

Shang says it will be Kenshi vs Reiko, but it's a little hard to hear, because Raiden, Smoke and Johnny are talking.

Awwwwwwww bullshit.
Sub-Zero and Scorpion get entire issues dedicated to their histories, which we already knew about. But the mysterious newcomers get clumped together?

Not only that, but this is really something that should have been covered by the game proper. Very hard to get excited about.

Most of the interview isn't really for hardcore fans, which is weird because I'm not sure who but hardcore fans would watch it to begin with. There's a lot of glossing over the basics of what the comic is, and Ed and Shawn congratulating one another on jobs very well done.

The most interesting thing to me was finding out just how little oversight NRS has over how Shawn expands on the existing characters, like when he asks if it's "OK" that he made up all this lore about where Scorpion's power comes from and how it works. And Ed says, "Oh yeah sure."

It's pretty clear that Shawn is actually changing NRS's views of their own characters, e.g. how much he's developed Kotal Kahn. That's super cool. He's a good writer, so his influence is very welcome.

I didn't watch it, but that's exactly what I noticed on the game, and now I have the konfirmation.

They probably said "hey, the story is this" and he was totally free to fill the holes with his creativity.

That's why I mentioned that there are several things that doesn't exact match. Because they didn't design the game looking to the comics.

Things like, how Scorpion, in the comics, appears to be an undead that has overcome his dark side, and when you play the game you discover he is alive once again. Things like that.

Anyway, I think this gaps are in good hands. And we don't know if until MK11 Shawn will keep writing.

Probably, if this happens, the stories will have more of a match.

[...]

If Shawn really knew the story and have all this freedom to write, I really imagine that NRS may have said "Reiko Accords" like a vague thing, and Shawn will make us understand why the hell it's called this way, and many other things.

I imagine Reiko will make a lot of trouble, and Earhtrrealm and Outworld will seal the non agression pact, not only after NR War, but because of Reiko.

We already discovered that in the comic, man. Chapter 10 outright said that Scorpion had his life restored. It matches perfectly fine.

Yet I don't think things in the comic are clear. Equally as Havik as the blood demon. If you have never told me, I would be still like Shinnok's head on Raiden's bag

I don't think it was clear because he doesn't acts like that, all of his thoughts, his struggle...it's like philosophy hahahah.

And, I must apologize for being stubborn. Saw an intro where Hanzo says that Scorpion is gone, but he kept his powers.

I mean, that's the kind of thing that I think it's ambiguous in the comic, but not in the game.

You were right since the beginning ;)

I personally liked the video. It gives me hope that NRS is listening and that Shawn will be able to be a writer for MK11. I'm praying for a season two as well, really the comics are great. Keep them coming!

I also like how Ed said this when talking about DLC characters "People were asking for Tremor, Rain, so we knew who we wanted to do for the DLC" I mean, this isn't subtle at all. He basically outright says that Rain will be dlc.

I thought it was pretty clear he was talking about MK9...

Hello there. I just registered and have an issue I want to discuss with all of you:

In chapter 6 of the comic, Kotal Kahn states that he has battled Mileena for over a decade but the problem is that in MKX there is a flashback that shows you how Kotal Kahn betrayed her and became emperor of Outworld. This flashback is stated to happen 5 years before the events of the game....

So how can you explained this mayor inconsistency?

That is concrete evidence that the komic is not canon. The Source Material ALWAYS takes priority in the event of a konflict.
