SPOILER ALERT:Mortal Kombat X DIGITAL COMIC DISCUSSION

Uhm...well, you know that big red dragon being kept chained under Charred Mountain?

Also, in the original timeline, Raiden had sealed all portals after Shinnok's invasion and Quan Chi and Shang Tsung had to travel to a secret portal known only by deities and sorcerers.
Spoiler:
It's safe to say that he did the same as long as in the game Quan Chi has only one access way into Earthrealm, where the Special Forces make their ambush and capture him.

And there you go. So why is Reiko travelling around a problem again? All they have to do is contact the Charred Mountain base, and boom, portal.

Spoiler:
And no, it's not safe to assume that. Quan Chi had that one way, yeah, but we don't know all of the resources Havik and Reiko have at their fingertips or how many secret portals like the one in DA there are around, never mind how long it might have taken Raiden to do that so Quan Chi only had the one way out.

Spoiler:
The MK X comic has a better story telling than the game. The story of the comics is just more intelligent. Very sad that the story of the MKX sucks

Vigilante_FireDragon surely it's inevitable. Now it's more than ever. Once again Raiden follows the footsteps of his unchanged timeline version. And he is much more powerful than before. It's more kombat, more violence...if we had Armageddon without Earthrrealm responding, imagine now!

[...]

About the comics, imagine you, in you house, and Reiko appears in your backyard?

Notice that this comics wasn't that well explained.

Let's say if it was released BEFORE the actual game or any spoilers.

Do you think that explanation of how Sub-Zero was freed from Quan Chi's control would be enough?

Ok, his rebirth was well explained, even though the pit thing was more likely. Of course Quan Chi wouldn't want him as a cyborg (thank Shinnok!).

Now, we only know what really happened between Raiden's magic and Quan Chi's because of the game. The comic explained nothing about it, just threw some scenes.

And that outfits...

Only things left before this Armageddon begins:
1) Edenia liberated and separated from Outworld, as the location for Armageddon is located in the forgotten deserts of Edenia.
2) Onaga returning from the afterlife, thus freeing Blaze from the loyal priests' control.
3) A bit more kombatants involved, either returning or newcomer.
4) Taven awakening from slumber, after his dragon Oren, hears Blaze's signal to be awaken.

Also Yellow Ledbetter.....I hope they can explain what the hell had happened that explains what occur between Quan Chi's defeat in his lair (thus restoring Jax, Kuai and Hanzo back to life) and full details on Jax's PTSD that leads to his retirement from Special Forces.

It would be good to be addressed in the comics.

Well, for Armageddon, I think that Kenshi's ending may be canon, if it is, then Taven has awaken, and that would interrupt everything much more, because now there is no one to receive "the signal".

So it could happen anytime without nobody noticing.

Funny that people sometimes (usually) believe that, without Shao Kahn, we avoided Armageddon. Now, without Shinnok (I mean, no way he will get out of that state easily), even without Quan Chi, we have more villains appearing.

Look who are the rulers of Netherrealm. Look at how Raiden will deal with threats (and, if you have a good mind, you will remember that he becomes so ruthless that he starts seeing threats and doing absurdely nonsense alliances) and how Outworld is less powerful.

It shall be a massacre. Fingers crossed to Onaga.

If you look closely, it's a true prophecy, things are meant to end. Maybe it will be worse than it was before...

Not only that, it may also be a subtle change that Raiden is taking this protection of Earthrealm too far, and that he would kill anyone. Even those who sided with him before, thus may need to see Fujin's help before taking down the crazed Thunder God.

I don't like how Jax randomly knew exactly who Reiko is. Jax is an ex-Special Forces grunt, what reason could he possibly have for being able to recognize the second-in-command of Mileena's side in the Outworld civil war?

It wasn't even "Hey, aren't you that guy who was fighting in Shao Kahn's tournament 5 years ago?" It was "REIKO."

Very strange. It makes the universe feel small if everyone who matters knows everyone else who matters.

Well, Reiko was one of Shinnok's worshippers and member of the Brotherhood of the Shadow in MK4. He could still be just that in the comic without sitting around in the Netherrealm, just like D'Vorah in Story Mode.

So while Jax was a revenant, he might have had something to do with Reiko.

Yeah, but if this is true - and that's a pretty big if right now - then surely Shawn knows that we don't know any of those things, and they need to be set up properly. Having characters know one another's names isn't a good hint that there's a mystery here waiting to be uncovered... it could just as well be the result of lazy writing.

It wasn't that either, it was just "the hell are you doing here?" I think he'd say that to Reptile or Sheeva or any of Shao Kahn's other followers that he saw at the tournament who showed up at his doorstep. I don't think it's that random Jax would know him at all, when their paths have crossed before.

Reiko was on Outworld's tournament. Besides the fact that as revenant he remembers everything.

He probably recalls Reiko, and it's been 15 years since Jax's freedom, everybody knows that Mileena is allied with Reiko.

We'll see in the next chapter, hopefully. ^^

Their paths didn't cross, though. Thanks to Ermac, neither Jax nor Sonya ever made it to the MK2 tournament in MK9, which is the only scene in which Reiko "appears."

I thought Ermac vs Jax happened during the MK2 tournament.

Sub-Zero was seeking vengeance when that fight took place, which happens in MK2, after Scorpion kills the first Sub-Zero on the first tournament.

Chronologically, Jax's chapter is set in the MK2 tournament, but it's not clear that he's actually taking part in the tournament. Like... you wouldn't say that Smoke was in the tournament. He was just running around Outworld beating people up while the tournament was going on.

Jax never sets foot in Shao Kahn's coliseum, which is where most (if not all?) of the MK2 tournament actually takes place. That's the only time Reiko makes an appearance, so there's no good reason for him and Jax to have met.

Jax is also off-screen for a while after his chapter. We don't know where he and Sonya could have went to before they encountered Sub-Zero and Ermac. With Reiko running around that same area, I don't think it's beyond the realm of plausibility that they came across each other at all. Like how Liu Kang, Kung Lao, and Raiden were revealed to have had that little off-screen adventure with D'Vorah.

Of course it's not out of the realm of possibility, it's just very sloppy writing. This is the first time these two characters have ever canonically interacted across all MK media. Don't give us generic animosity, give us a line to establish how they know each other. I'm not asking for Shakespeare, I would have settled for "Haven't seen you in thirty years. I remember hearing that Kenshi whooped your ass. Sorry I wasn't there to see it."

We may see some of that on the next issue.

It's the "CSZ turning into human SZ" thing all over again.

We thought it was sloppy writing until they finally explained it.

Which is funny, because all Quan Chi did was basically snap his fingers and voila, human Subbie is back.
